Chloe The Foxhound Takes Us For A Walk At Point Farms Beach - Goderich, Ontario
Point Farms Provincial Park has a fantastic dog beach along the shores of Lake Huron. The park, just north of Goderich, Ontario, is small but well-maintained and we love taking Chloe the Foxhound to the beach. It's becoming even more enjoyable to walk her near water because not only has she become somewhat obsessed with it, she's started to go deeper and more frequently into the water! We are so excited to see her blossom and overcome some of her previous fears.
In this video, Chloe the Foxhound not only plays in the water but she also decided to take us on an unplanned hike up part of Point Farms Provincial Park's Below the Bluff Trail.

Kincardine to Goderich - Ontario Bike Tour #2 - Day 7 of 10
This video summarizes Day 7 of my 10 day solo bicycle trip along the shores of Lake Simcoe and Lake Huron in Southern Ontario, Canada. All of the clips in the video were filmed on Thursday July 26, 2018.
From Kincardine I headed southwest along Huron Terrace, turned right onto Kincardine Ave and followed the shoreline on Goderich St. After crossing the border into Huron-Kinloss, the name of the road changes to Boiler Beach Rd. At Concession Rd 10 I jogged inland and followed Lake Range Dr which took me over the Pine River and through Lurgan Beach.I turned right when I got to Concession Rd 2 and headed South West away from the lake. I eventually turned right onto Sideroad 25, then left onto Amberley Road (County Rd 86). When I got turned right onto Kintain I had then left Bruce County and entered Huron County and the township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. I stayed on this road until I reached Belfast Rd where I turned left. I made a right turn from there onto Kingsbridge Line which I followed until Highway 21 (the Bluewater Highway). After a short stretch on Hwy 21 I turned left onto Glen's Hill Rd, and then right onto Kerry's Line. When I reached Dungannon Rd it was in the process of being paved and I turned left onto it. I made a right onto Cransford Line which I rode until Nile Rd. I continued south on Loyal Line, then West on Gore Rd back to Highway 21. After a short stretch of Highway 21 I was at the entrance to Point Farms Provincial Park.
I selected a campsite within the Colborne Campground and went for a quick swim at the beach. I then got back on the road and headed to Goderich along Highway 21. I passed the Goderich Municipal Airport, a bridge for the G2G (Goderich to Guelph) trail and the Maitland River. At the top of the hill coming into Goderich I turned right onto Gloucester Terrace where I passed the Huron Historic Gaol (Jail). I then I approached the Courthouse Square from North Street. I also went and saw the Lighthouse on Cobourg Street, and down Harbor street to see the beach and Goderich Salt Mine. I ate dinner with family at Park House Restaurant.
Strava for Day 7:
The bike I used for this trip is a New York made Linear Recumbent Bike which I believe is from around 2004. I carried my gear in 2 Giant Waterproof Panniers, and mounted my tent and sleeping pad on the top of the rack.

Port To Point Trail Proposal
The Port to Point Trail Association has been incorporated as an arm of the Goderich & District Charitable Foundation since February 28, 2011. The Association has a single goal of advocating for and stewarding a multi-use active transportation trail connecting the Port of Goderich to Point Farms Provincial Park and the adjacent communities in the Colborne ward of ACW.
The Port to Point Trail is intended to be a comprehensive Active Transportation Route. It must be an accessible and safe choice for walkers, hikers, cyclists, children and those with reduced mobility to move north/south along the Lake Huron Shoreline. The Port to Point Trail will provide a connection to, not only, existing trail networks in Huron County, including the proposed Goderich to Guelph Rail Trail, but also a connection between local communities and local businesses. The Port to Point Trail will be a significant contributor to community and economic development capacity by promoting safe, inclusive, healthy transportation choices for residents and visitors alike.
Point Farms to Conestogo Lake - Ontario Bike Tour #2 - Day 8 of 10
This video summarizes Day 8 of my 10 day solo bicycle trip along the shores of Lake Simcoe and Lake Huron in Southern Ontario, Canada. All of the clips in the video were filmed on Friday 27, 2018.
I exited Point Farms Provincial Park onto Highway 21 (Blue Water Highway) briefly heading north. I stopped for a quick breakfast at Burdan's Red Cat Farm Bakery. I made a right turn onto Gore Rd and headed east. Gore Rd eventually ends at Nile Rd and I headed South East. Eventually Nile Rd merges with Blyth Rd which took me across the Maitland River heading east. Before reaching the community of Auburn I turned right onto Baseline Rd/Maitland Terrance where I crossed from the Township of Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh into the Municipality Central Huron. When I reached Hullett-McKillop Rd I turned left and continued South East. Eventually I crossed into the Municipality of East Huron and made a right turn onto Roxboro Line heading North East. I made a right onto Blyth Rd which took me into the community of Walton where I continued North East on Brussels Line. I passed over the G2G trail (Goderich to Guelph). I stopped for lunch in Brussels at the Jam Jar Pub and Eatery. I made a right turn onto Brandon Rd and headed South East through the community of Ethel. The road curves North East and becomes Molesworth Line. I made a right turn onto Browntown Rd. When I crossed Road 172 I left Huron County and entered North Perth, within Perth County. The name of the road changes to line 81 and I turned left onto Road 169 which took me through the community of Trowbridge. I then turned right onto Line 84 and continued South East until Wallace Ave S where I turned left which took me into the Community of Listowel. I explored up and down Main St then continued NE on Wallace Ave where I stopped at the Food Basics grocery store. I also grabbed a Vanila Chai Ice Frappe from McDonalds across the street. I turned right when I reached Line 87 and headed South East again. Along this road I observed many Mennonite (similar to Amish) farms with families in plain dress and produce for sale with signs saying No Sunday Sales. Eventually I crossed into Wellington County within the Township of Mapletown. The name of the road changes to Concession Rd 3 on the other side of the border. I turned left onto Wellington Rd 11 which took me to the entrance to Conestoga Lake Conservation Area.
Conestogo Lake was created when a flood control dam was built on the Conestogo River in 1958. This river flows into the Grand River, which eventually flows into Lake Erie near Dunnville, ON.

Scenic River Views! Hiking At Wawanosh Valley Conservation Area Near Goderich
Hiking trail with scenic river views of the Maitland River!
During a camping trip to Point Farms Provincial Park, we ventured off on a day trip to a local conservation area. We had never been to this park before, but we thoroughly enjoyed the hike we did down to the Maitland River and back.
We started in the shaded parking lot near the now-closed Wawanosh Nature Centre. The trail crossed the lovely Belgrave Creek, passed through meadows filled with damselflies and wildflowers. We followed the trail down to the cedar lowlands and along the river to another small stream.
It was a beautiful path, well maintained and a gorgeous day to discover a new hiking trail fairly close to one of the campgrounds we visit at least once a year.
The park doesn't offer any camping but there were picnic tables and a new, very clean privy. We highly recommend this park and will hopefully visit it again, perhaps in a different season.
Trail map:
The conservation area has three different trails for hikers to enjoy.

Vinyl Update from Our Campsite.
Hi there friends of the VC. My wife and I spent some time at Point Farms Provincial Park near Goderich. You are probably aware of the tornado that touched down there a couple of weeks ago. For a small part of the downtown, there was mass devastation to many homes and businesses A relief effeort is in place to restore things back to normal. Anyway, I shot this vid while we were down there camping. Hope you enjoy. Comments please, even if they say how ridiculous I am.
