Siege of Fort Texas - May 3 - 9, 1846 (Mexican-American War)
Playlist of historical battles in Total War ranging from 1457 BCE - May 1865 -
I am using the mod ACW 3.6.2 which can be found here -
Having secured independence from Mexico in 1836, the Republic of Texas existed as independent state for nine years though many of its residents favored joining the United States. The issue was of critical importance during the 1944 US presidential election. That year, James K. Polk won the White House on a pro-Texas annexation platform. Moving rapidly, his predecessor, John Tyler, commenced statehood proceedings in Congress before Polk entered office. As a result, Texas joined the Union on December 29, 1845. Responding to this action, Mexico threatened war, but was dissuaded from following through by the British and French.
After declining an American offer to buy the New Mexico and California Territories, tensions between the US and Mexico increased in 1846, over a border dispute.
Since achieving independence, Texas claimed the Rio Grande as its southern border, while Mexico argued in favor of the Nueces River farther to the north. With the situation deteriorating, both sides sent troops to the region. Led by Brigadier General Zachary Taylor, an American Army of Occupation marched into the disputed territory in March and constructed a supply base at Point Isabel and an earthwork on the Rio Grande known as Fort Texas.

We learn through play. In play, we learn how to collaborate and negotiate rules and relationships. In play, we imagine, create, think flexibly and critically, and solve problems. Play provides important pathways for social, intellectual, physical, and emotional growth. Yet informal play and formal schooling are not always an easy combination. This session focuses on creating formal educational settings (preK through high school) where playful learning thrives.

San Francisco Bay
Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written
language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through
audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio
while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using
a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
San Francisco Bay is a shallow estuary in the US state of California. It is surrounded by a contiguous region known as the San Francisco Bay Area (often simply the Bay Area), and is dominated by the large cities of San Jose, San Francisco and Oakland.
San Francisco Bay drains water from approximately 40 percent of California. Water from the Sacramento and San Joaquin rivers, and from the Sierra Nevada mountains, flow into Suisun Bay, which then travels through the Carquinez Strait to meet with the Napa River at the entrance to San Pablo Bay, which connects at its south end to San Francisco Bay. The Guadalupe River enters the bay at its southernmost point in San Jose. The Guadalupe drains water from the Santa Cruz mountains and Hamilton Mountain ranges in southernmost San Jose. It enters the bay at the town of Alviso. It then connects to the Pacific Ocean via the Golden Gate strait. However, this entire group of interconnected bays is often called the San Francisco Bay. The bay was designated a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance on February 2, 2012.
