Fingal Bay Beach Walk - Fingal Spit to Port Stephens Lighthouse on Fingal Island
A near-perfect C-curve of sand that faces southeast, Fingal Bay has its own island connected by Fingal Spit and is well protected from all but a hefty southeast wind. The spit at the north end which links Fingal Island (also known as Shark Island) to the mainland gets decent waves when the sand builds up.
The island’s key feature is an imposing lighthouse surrounded by beautiful views of the ocean.
Crossing over to the island can be very dangerous if you don't work around the tides, so please be sure to cross during low tide and cross back during low tide. Find all the tide info here:
With your support, I'll be able to shoot more and more of Australia for all to enjoy!

2011-10-23 - Diving Fingal Bay, NSW, Australia
SCUBA diving at FIngal Bay, NSW, Australia.
My dive buddy for this dive was Peach. Technically it wasn't meant to be a shark dive but there were plenty of port jackson sharks and a good sized wobbegong to ogle.
The dive site itself is very easy and possible for even beginner divers. Entry and exit is via the beach below the bluff to the right side of the bay (facing out). Navigation can be done using natural markers of which there are many to choose from including boulders/bommies, other rock formations, and a distinct sandy edge to the long kelp gardens.
Yes I know this is old footage. I have a heap of unpublished footage to go through of my various dives between 2011 and 2015, excluding videos I did for other things so I figured I'd start at the earliest stuff and work my way forward.
All of the footage was shot with a GoPro in a modified housing using an after market red filter from Snake River Prototyping. Post production was done with Cyberlink PowerDirector 15.

The sand formation known as 'The Spit' connects Shark Island to the mainland. The feature is not passable during high tides and after extreme weather events when the formation is washed away.

Fingal Bay - Fingal Spit - Fingal Island
Wow. This morning was amazing. I hiked from Fingal Bay, across the spit and onto Fingal Island. On the most easterly point of the island I found a fantastic little light house. The weather was perfect and the tide was low enough for the spit to be fully exposed. I'm pretty stocked with the footage the Phantom took and I hope you enjoy it to.
