Point of Sand, Little Cayman
Windy today as you can hear. Strong current as the tides change. We took snorkel gear and walked to the pier. Swam out about 20 yards and drifted back to this spot. 12' to 15' deep. Clear water. Saw rays and barracuda.

Cayman Kai & Rum Point | Grand Cayman | Cayman Islands Sotheby's International Realty
If you can imagine all the elements of your dream Caribbean paradise all rolled up in one location, this is it. Palm trees and casuarina trees dot the landscape, stretching lazily into the shimmering turquoise water. Hammocks swing invitingly, the shallow water twinkles blue, tempting you in for a cooling dip and homes here almost always lead their owners directly to the gently lapping ocean just yards away. Paradise found.
The small peninsular of land at the northern part of Grand Cayman known as Cayman Kai overlooks the magnificent and pristine aquatic wonderland of the North Sound just teeming with marine life and is a millionaire's playground indeed. It is reached via a forty five minute drive east out of George Town, then bisecting the island northwards before turning west along the district of North Side to the furthest most westerly point.
Two popular beaches set themselves out in particular for special mention in this location -- the Cayman Kai beach and yacht club and Rum Point Club. Both have a typically Caribbean relaxed vibe and cater incredibly well for visitors, with chilled out bars, plentiful hammocks, sun loungers and deckchairs, shops selling souvenir and beach paraphernalia, and so on. The water here is particularly shallow and therefore perfect for little ones enjoying a splash around in the sea. Snorkelers love to explore this part of the ocean as well because of its calm waters and interesting marine life. Locals love the location on holidays and weekends, mooring their boats in the shallow waters before wading ashore for a little sustenance, while visitors have the benefit of enjoying the location during the quieter weekdays as well.
There are a handful of small resorts around the area of Cayman Kai, each providing visitors with apartment or cottage-style accommodation right on the beach.
Real estate in this location, as you would imagine, is the ultimate in island living, with the powder-white sands and ocean beyond just outside your back door. Stunning homes and apartments and magnificent residences abound, often holiday homes for their lucky owners and frequently rented out to other lucky visitors when owners are not in residence. Land lots are also available for those who want to create their dream island home for themselves.

Little Cayman & Owen Island - All to Ourselves
Little Cayman is a place you want to go to get away from it all. It's best known for it's diving, but there's plenty to do above the water line too! One of those things is to explore Owen Island.
Owen Island is a small, uninhabited island just off the south shore of Little Cayman. It's tucked inside the reef which creates a large lagoon area. There's only one way to get there. By Boat. We rented a kayak from the Southern Cross Resort which is located not far from Owen Island. Just go inside the resort's clubhouse and they will help you out.
Be sure to pack water, sunscreen and some cold adult beverages is you plan to stay out there for more than an hour. It gets hot! We packed a cooler with sandwiches, water and the local White Tip Lager which we enjoyed as we explored Owen Island. This video gives you a small taste of the beauty you will find.
As always...#JustGo!
Cheers,

A Salty Passion: Hi! We are Ryan (RumShopRyan) and Crystal (Castaway Crystal), we document, photograph, and film the best the Caribbean has to offer. Whether it’s stunning beaches, relaxing hotels, friendly restaurants, or soggy beach bars…we want to share it and inspire others to explore the islands.
MEET US!
Who Is RumShopRyan:
Howdy! I’m Ryan and I hail from the land-locked, can’t get any further from the ocean, state of Kansas. I moved to laid back southwest Florida in 2001. I didn’t know a single person and didn’t have a job. Risky I know, but the ocean was calling and I had to answer.
I’m a huge fan of Kansas City sports, so you’ll probably see a lot of Jayhawks, Chiefs and Royals attire in my photos. Kansas City is a great town and I’m glad I’m from there, but the coastal life was calling. It’s kind of like Kenny Chesney’s “island boy” song. Check out the lyrics and you’ll see what I mean.
I write because I’m passionate about the Caribbean and the island lifestyle, and it’s my way to share it with you. If it has anything to do with the Caribbean, rum drinks, beach style music, or Caribbean culture, you’ll be able to find it on this site.
When in the Caribbean you’ll find a camera around my neck and note pad in my pocket. This is how I document the experiences in unique and interesting ways and bring it back to you, the Castaways.
Who is Castaway Crystal:
I was raised in Southwest Florida so it’s no surprise that I have a love for beaches, water and nature. As a child, most weekends were spent fishing in the warm gulf waters on the family boat. As an adult, most weekends are spent soaking up the sun on Ft. Myers Beach. Even though I have always loved the coastal life, I don’t think I fully appreciated it until I moved to Nashville, TN. I’m all about experiencing new things, and as a Licensed Massage Therapist I thought it would be amazing to massage some of Nashville’s biggest stars (a girl can dream right?). But I missed the sun and sand too much—and let’s not forget the rum runners! After a year I couldn’t take it anymore, this sun bunny moved back to her coast of somewhere beautiful.
I’ve always been passionate about photography and writing but my passions never really had a purpose until I met Ryan. I couldn’t be happier being Ryan’s first mate and sharing my photos and stories with you. May they inspire you to go after your tropical dreams and wishes. Make a plan…Set a date…Just go!

Grand Cayman Island ???????? Rum Point Snorkeling in 4K
Our Rum Point visit in Grand Cayman with some snorkeling. We loved this area in Grand Cayman. It was very kid friendly and the food was pretty good too. There wasn’t a lot of coral to see snorkeling but it was still an interesting spot with tons of barracudas and little stingrays. Shot with a GoPro 7 Hero Black. - May 2019

Little Cayman: HD Travel
There are no inclusive resorts in the sister islands of Cayman Brac and Little Cayman; no casinos; golf courses; little in the way of shopping, and just a few restaurants. But they have birds, trails, cliffs, reefs, and caves. They move to the rhythms of the natural world. Owen Island is a true desert island off the southern coast of Little Cayman. The isle has no lights; no electricity; no man-made structures; no men or women. Just talcum-soft white sand, driftwood, scrub and a lagoon. It is the pefect place for a Digital Detox.
