Pendolino, Warsaw to Kraków - PKP Express Intercity Premium (EIP) First Class Trip Report
I take Poland's headline train, the Pendolino from Warsaw to Kraków. These are marketed as Express Intercity Premium trains and I travelled in First Class. The fare? £12, or around $19!
Train travel in Poland is easy and accessible for tourists.

W wakacyjne weekendy w 2018 ARRIVA uruchomiła pilotażowe połączenie w relacji Bydgoszcz - Kościerzyna - Bydgoszcz. Para pociągów kursowała w tej relacji dwa razy w soboty i niedziele, pokonując na co dzień nieużywany w ruchu pasażerskim odcinek Kościerzyna - Bąk i Bąk - Czersk, dając tym samym okazję do przemierzenia Borów Tucholskich koleją. Połączenie przedłużono do końca września, dając nadzieje na jego utrzymanie, jednak od października zdecydowano się na zaniechanie tegoż połączenia. Wszystkie znaki na niebie i ziemi wskazują, że niestety w 2019 roku takiego pociągu na wakacje niestety zabraknie...
During holiday weekends in 2018 ARRIVA carieer operated seasonal service en route Bydgoszcz - Koscierzyna - Bydgoszcz. A pair of such trains ran twice every Saturday and Sunday, travelling on unused in daily passenger service sections of railway line Koscierzyna - Bak and Bak - Czersk, maling it quite an opportunity for the enthusiasts (and not only them) to take a trip through vast forests of Bory Tucholskie by railway. The service was kept also in September, making some hopes for maintaing it in the rest of the year as well. But afterwards the decision has been taken to withdraw by the end of September. All signs point out that, unfortunately, in 2019 we won't see such a train in upcoming holiday schedule...

Film z podróży na pokładzie pociągu BGE (Berlin - Gdynia Express) ze st. Berlin Hauptbahnhof do st. Gdynia Główna, prowadzi EU44-010. // A movie from the travel onboard 'BGE' train (Berlin - Gdynia Express) from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Gdynia Glowna, led by Siemens EuroSprinter.

1.10.2018 | Film przedstawiający podróż międzynarodowym pociągiem EC 55 Express Intercity BGE, a więc Berlin-Gdynia Express z perspektywy podróżnego. Podróż odbyłem na całej długości relacji tego pociągu, a więc od stacji początkowej Berlin Hauptbahnhof do stacji końcowej Gdynia Główna. Podróż odbyła się bardzo sprawnie i komfortowo, na pewnych odcinkach z prędkościami dochodzącymi do 200 km/h. Pozytywne wrażenia odniosłem również z dynamiki jazdy pociągu prowadzonego przez lokomotywę, potocznie zwaną w Polsce Husarzem lub Taurusem, a więc Siemensa EuroSprintera ES64U4 (EU44): krótko mówiąc czuć różnicę między nią, a lokomotywami rodzimej produkcji. Podróż ze stolicy Niemiec do Gdynia zajęła według rozkładu 6 godzin i 7 minut w wagonach z klimatyzowanymi przedziałami i udogodnieniami takimi, jak regulowane siedzenia, lampki i gniazdka 220V dla każdego pasażera, a coś na ząb można było wrzucić przy okazji odwiedzin parokrotnego wózka z przekąskami oraz udając się do wagonu gastronomicznego WARS. Na komfort podróży miał też wpływ standard konstrukcyjny nawierzchni na odcinku Berlin - Oderbrücke oraz dalej od Kunowic do Poznania - pociąg poruszał się z prędkościami przekraczającymi 160 km/h (prędkość szlakowa wg PKP PLK to 200 km/h). Ciekawostka: na stacji granicznej, jeszcze po stronie niemieckiej (Oderbrücke), Husarz zatrzymuje się i restartuje, by zmienić tryb pracy z zasilania niemieckiego 15kV AC na polski 3kV DC.
1st October 2018 | Movie depicting travelling onboard international PKP Intercity's train EC 55 (Express Intercity/EuroCity) 'BGE': Berlin-Gdynia Express from passenger point of view. I took the trip on entire distance of the train, so starting at Berlin Hauptbahnhof station (Germany) and finished at Gdynia Glowna station (Poland). The travel was quite comfortable, on some parts with speeds up to 200 kph. Dynamics of the leading loco (EuroSprinter ES64U4) was surely over those from Polish factories used in national service. Travel from Germany's capital to Gdynia took 6 hours and 7 minutes, while sitting in compartments with A/C, moving seats, personal lights and sockets; one could order a little something to eat from the WARS trolley that visited each compartment few times or pay a visit to WARS dining car, too. The ride was comfortable too because of the standard of the railway track, that from Berlin to Poznan enabled the locomotive to travel with speeds between 160 and 200 kph. At German border station Oderbrücke, the locomotive was stopped and restarted to change the voltage from German 15kV AC to Polish 3kV DC.

Video przedstawia nowy, a właściwie odnowiony dworzec PKP Bydgoszcz Główna, który został oddany do użytku 24 sierpnia 2015 roku. Video zostało zrealizowano prywatnie w okresie Świąt Bożego Narodzenia w 2016 roku. Materiał filmowy został zrealizowany w jakości 4K zarówno w dzień jak i w nocy, dzięki temu widać porównanie, a po zmroku rozświetlone neony dworca PKP Bydgoszcz Główna.

PKP Steam Engines in Poland Part 2
This clip includes a visit to a 600mm gauge system that was still using a huge variety of different engines of 0-4-0, 0-6-0 and 0-8-0 wheel arrangements. I dont recall seeing any of the giant Lyd2 diesels on this system at the time of my visit.

In this video you can see diesel multiple units class 844 (RegioShark) and 814 (Regionova) at Medlešice station on 29th April 2018 (2:41 pm - 3:19 pm).
Medlešice (Chrudim District, Pardubice Region, Czech Republic, Central Europe) is a village which is a neighbourhood of the Chrudim town, about 6 kilometres (3.6 miles) south from Pardubice and about 3 kilometres (1.9 miles) from Chrudim. It has about 550 inhabitants.
The Medlešice station lies on the single-track railway number 238 (Pardubice-Rosice nad Labem - Havlíčkův Brod).
Diesel multiple units class 844 (PESA Link II for ČD):
In 2010 Czech Railways (České dráhy; ČD) made a tender for 31 new two-car diesel multiple units for regional services. 2 companies submitted an offer: Slovak ŽOS Vrútky, and Polish PESA Bydgoszcz, which won. The units were partly paid by the European Union. Regular service started on the 1st October 2012.

Diesel multiple units class 814:
Diesel multiple units class 814 are basically big reconstruction of the motor coaches class 810 and their trailer coaches class 010 (currently Btax780). The coaches class 810 were designed for branch lines with small amount of passengers. The problem was that they were used on services on which weren't suitable, which resulted in lower travel comfort than usual. ČD decided to solve the problem by reconstruction because of their large quantity. In 2001 Pars nova made the prototypes - the motor coach class 812 and the control car class 912 (currently Bfbdtanx792). After tests in service ČD decided to don't continue in production of motor coaches class 812 and start production of the diesel multiple units class 814, on which gained experience from the prototype were used. It was made 238 units in total, thereof 211 two-car units for ČD, 26 three-car units (814.2) for ČD and 1 two-car unit for ŽD (814.5). One two-car unit consists of a power car and a control car (914), which is partly low-floor, and one three-car unit consist of two power cars and one partly low-floor passenger car, which is located between the power cars. They are the most common trains in the Czech Republic.

2-10-0 Ty45-379 and 4-6-2 Pm36-2 carry out the line work at Wolsztyn, with at least another two locomotives in steam on shed. In the closing sequence you can see a snow plough converted from one of the electric locomotives modelled on the British AL1 class (E3001). Filmed in 1995.
