WHAT TO PACK for a HOLY LAND TOUR in ISRAEL
Here's some packing tips for Israel along with unique footage of our 2018 Holy Land trips. Our May tour was a week long 'cultural' tour and our October tour was lead by Dr. John Dickson - 'The Origins of Christianity'. We had a fantastic time with each tour and would love to visit Israel again.

TRAIN TRIP TLV HAHAGANA STATION - JERUSALEM YITZHAK NAVON STATION(1ST TRIP FOR 2020)
Jerusalem–Yitzhak Navon railway station (Hebrew: תחנת הרכבת ירושלים – יצחק נבון, Tahanat HaRakevet Yerushalaim–Yitzhak Navon, originally named Jerusalem–HaUma railway station) is an Israel Railways passenger terminal in Jerusalem.
The station is the eastern terminus of the Tel Aviv–Jerusalem railway. It is the world's deepest heavy-rail passenger station, and the fourth deepest underground station in the world, with its platforms extending down to 80 metres (260 ft) below street level.[3] It is located near Binyanei HaUma and constitutes part of a major public transportation hub, being situated adjacent to the Jerusalem Central Bus Station as well as next to a station serving current and future lines of the Jerusalem Light Rail.
Construction of the station began in 2007 and was completed in 2018 at a cost of about NIS 500 million (appx. US$140 million). The station entrance is located at an elevation of 815 metres (2,674 ft), with most of the station's 60,000 square metres (650,000 sq ft) of floorspace located underground.[3] The length of the platforms is 300 metres (980 ft).[4] The station can double as a shelter in case of a conventional, biological or chemical attack, being able to provide refuge for 5,000 people.[5]
The station is named after Jerusalem native Yitzhak Navon, the fifth President of Israel.

Welcome to another episode of Chopstick Travel. Today we take you on the ultimate street food tour through the Holy city of Old Jerusalem, within the city walls only. Old Jerusalem is an ancient area, and is packed with street foods, teas & coffee, fresh produce, historic and religious relics and endless sightseeing opportunities.
We take you to eat some delicious Palestinian food all around the city, starting with the simple Za’atar bread. Next we locate some spiced lamb kebabs, cooked fresh over fire. And to wash down the kebabs, a delicious & cheap hummus! We then find a bizarre yellow sweet, called date bread, as a dessert. After, we head to a famous Palestinian spice shop, where you tell them exactly what you’re going to cook, and they create the perfect spice blend for you. We picked up local spices - za’atar and sumac, as well as a special spice concoction. Next, we take a short break with some street side Arabic coffee, spiced with cardamon. We decide to do some sightseeing to digest some food. Our first sight was a short stop to the Western Wall. Then we visit an ancient sweet shop, over 150 years old for mutabak. We then visit the next sight - the Dome of the Rock, and then the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. To end our insane day of eating street food inside the old city, we pick up a pomegranate/orange juice, freshly pressed, and head to a small shop selling kanefe.
All shops, restaurants and sights are located within the city walls. There aren’t addresses, but using Google Maps, you can type in the name of the shop and it will give you an approximate location. A better option, ask shop owners inside the Old City. They give great directions. Here are the names of the shops/approximate locations:
- Za’atar bread - NEAR DAMASCUS GATE ENTRANCE
- Lamb kebabs - ON SHUK HA-TSORFIM ST. (also near Shaheen Kebab)
- Hummus - ARAFAT HUMMUS
- Date bread - NEXT TO ARAFAT HUMMUS
- Spices - SEA OF HERBS JERUSALEM
- Arabic Coffee - can be found all around the Old City
- Sight #1 - THE WESTERN WALL
- Mutabak - ZALATIMO SWEETS (we had to ask a shop owner for directions)
- Sight #2 - DOME OF THE ROCK
- Sight #3 - CHURCH OF THE HOLY SEPULCHRE
- Pomegranate & Orange Juice - NEAR THE AUSTRIAN HOSPICE
- Kanefe & tea - CONFECTIONERY JAFAR

Tel Aviv, Israel. Part 2 (English Version)
#ISRAEL #TELAVIV TEL AVIV JAFO is the Israeli Tech, Financial and Foodie epicentre.
For sunshine and food lover like me this city is perfect, it has 300 days of SUNSHINE per year, it is vegan friendly city, with loads of culinary trends on offer and the wine, the coffee and the freshly squeeze juice scene is also BIG! Although quiet pricy...
This is gay capital of the Middle East with loads of Jews, Christians and Muslims living together and all of them speaking the same language, Hebrew, which is one of most ancients languages in the world.
THE FOOD:
It incorporates many different ingredients, normally eaten in Levantine, Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cuisines. Food such as Falafel, Hummus, Musabbha, Shakshouka, Raisins, Dry Fruits, Sumac and Za'atar are now widely popular in Israel.
TAHINI or Tahina
Is a paste from toasted ground sesame seeds. It is served as a dip on its own or as a major component of hummus, baba ghanoush, and halva. Tahini is used in the cuisines of the eastern Mediterranean region, from the Balkans, Caucasus and Middle East to Northern Africa. It is also widely used in Chinese and South East Asian cuisine, notably Vietnamese cuisine.
Pomegranate
Originated in Iran and extended all over the world, this fruit is was cultivated around the mediterranean on ancients times. Till Spanish took it to america. This fruit is loved by everyone and has travel thousads of miles!
Shakshuka
Is a dish of poached eggs in a spicy tomato sauce with onions and peppers, often served with cumin and coriander it reminds me to a Tagine with eggs or huevos rancheros. Tunisian origin and is now popular among many ethnic groups of the Middle East and North-Africa.
Sumac
Is a tangy, lemony spice often used in Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cooking. Try using it in salads instead of lemon juice or to season grilled meat and fish. It’s also delicious sprinkled over hummus.
Za’atar
A crucial spice blend in the food of the eastern Mediterranean is a generic name for a family of related Middle Eastern herbs from the Origanum(oregano), (wild thyme), and Satureja (savory) Its used is very popular throughout the Middle East.
Aubergine
Is a core dish of Israeli cuisine. Whether it’s tahini laced, smoked, lined with yogurt or some sort of mixture of all three, you’ll find it in any traditional Israeli breakfast, and most probably lunch and dinner too.

Какво да Правим в Тел Авив | Част 2 | What To Do In Tel Aviv | Part 2
I am Lora. Have a nice journey!
