Mae Kachan Hotspring

This hotspring is located in Mae Chedi Mai Sub-District of Wiang Pa Pao. It is a place that buses from Chiangmai stop before go to Chiangrai. Many Souvenir shops, jewelry shops and other local products are available here. Mae Kachan Hotspring is divided into three hot springs and an average temperature is about 80 degree celsius. Eggs can be boiled within 10 minutes. It is another interesting place that Visual Chiang Mai & Northern Thailand would like to recommend all the visitors to visit while they are visiting Chiang Mai and Northern Thailand. To visit this beautiful hotspring, just drive on High Way No.118 to Chiang Rai, pass Doi Saket distruct, drive through the hilly area for a few minutes then you will arrive to the hot spring. 45 min drin from Chiang Mai city.

What to see in North Thailand: Bo Khrai, a Lahu Village.mov

Approximately 40,000 Lahu hill tribe people live in the northern mountains of Thailand. The Lahu originally came from Tibet, moved to Burma and now are one of the six main hill tribes in Thailand. Their total Thai population is estimated at around 100,000.

A lovely Lahu family gave us permission to visit their house and we cautiously, very cautiously, climbed the ladder entrance, barefoot. Their house was immaculate and even as I entered, a woman was busy cleaning the floor to make sure there were no crumbs. One room is used as a kitchen only while another room is sleeping quarters for the family. Like most tribal societies, more than one related family usually shares a house. This family had farmland and grew rice, potatoes and corn, while little piglets ran around the yard, the cutest little things.

Guide O then walked with us through Bo Khrai/Bo Krai Village, occupied by 500 people to get more of an idea of Lahu culture. Not the most interesting experience in the Mae Hong Son loop but still a learning process with another minority... Pardon me if I don't wax lyrical...

In Mae Taeng district, Chiang Mai province, about 40 kilometers away from Chiangmai.It is a large hot springabout 1-5 meters hight.It is a large hot spring Kaiser (Geyser), very high temperature about 170-200 degrees, the temperature of the surface water is about 90 to 100 degrees.

โป่งเดือดป่าแป๋ อยู่ใน อ.แม่แตง จ. เชียงใหม่ ห่างจากตัวเมืองประมาณ 40 กิโลเมตร เป็นน้ำพุร้อนขนาดใหญ่ ที่พุ่งขึ้นมาจากพื้นดิน ในอดีตน้ำพุร้อนแห่งนี้เคยพุ่งสูงถึง 5 เมตรแต่ปัจจุบันสูง 1-2 เมตรเป็นบ่อน้ำพุร้อนขนาดใหญ่แบบไกเซอร์ (Geyser) เกิดจากการที่น้ำใต้ผิวดินไหลผ่านทางช่องว่างที่มีความร้อนส่งผ่านขึ้นมาจากหินหลอมเหลวที่อยู่ลึกลงไปทำให้มีอุณหภูมิและแรงดันสูงมาก ซึ่งจะเดือดพุ่งขึ้นสูงจากผิวดินตลอดเวลา เกิดจากการสะสมของแก๊สในน้ำร้อน โดยการพุ่งขึ้นสูงสุดของน้ำจะเกิดขึ้นในช่วงเวลาที่คงที่ อุณหภูมิน้ำใต้ดินประมาณ 170-200 องศา ส่วนอุณหภูมิของน้ำผิวดินประมาณ 90-100 องศา
