Ponshukan is located in JR Echigo Yuzawa Station. It's a museum of Echigo's sake, all made with Niigata's finest rice.
At the Ponshukan, we've got sake from all 96 of Niigata's producers, and it's possible to sample representative products from each brand. There's also a hot spring bath that contains sake, called Yunosawa, and sake and other souvenirs of Niigata available for sale.
This spot is a must-see for any sake lover.

Japanese Sake Vending Machine ★ ONLY in JAPAN #51
Who needs a bartender when you can replace him with a vending machine! Japan is loaded with amazing vending machines -- and in this episode, John travels with a JR Tokyo Wide Rail Pass from Tokyo to Echigo Yuzawa to sample a lot of Niigata's best sakes from the SAKE TASTING VENDING MACHINE!!
The sake tasting vending machines are inside the train station in a place called Ponshukan. There are 120 different sakes to try.
SAKE TASTING VENDING MACHINE SYSTEM:
500 yen gets you a cup and 5 coins.
1 coin can fill the cup once.
When finished, return the sake cup.
The drinking age in Japan is 20 year old.
Getting to Echigo Yuzawa Station:
The JOETSU Shinkansen / bullet train departs from Tokyo and Ueno Stations every 20 minutes from 6am to 10pm.
It takes 80 minutes to travel the 180km to the center of the Japanese alps.

The Tokyo Wide Pass Information:
* It replaced the Kanto Pass in 2015
* You must be non-Japanese and hold a foreign passport
* Residents and Tourists can purchase it in Japan at JR Pass Offices. There is one in Tokyo Station Marunouchi NORTH Exit.
* Good for 3 consecutive days of travel for 10,000 yen
* Not valid on the Tokaido Shinkansen and only valid in limited areas about 150-200km from Tokyo.

JR Echigo Yuzawa Station, Yuzawa Town, Niigata Prefecture
JR Echigo Yuzawa Station is the main access point to the Yuzawa Town in Niigata Prefecture. Yuzawa Town is the largest ski and snow boarding resort in Japan and easily accessible. You can take Joetsu Shinkansen line bullet train from either Niigata or Tokyo to get to Echigo Yuzawa Station.

まずは新潟の特産品からオリジナル品まで豊富な品揃えの物販コーナーと、室温15度の低温貯蔵室で管理された酒販コーナーがお出迎え。越後の代表銘柄の日本酒はほとんどがここで揃うとのこと。お気に入りのお酒を探すなら、奥にある「テイスティングGALLERY「越の室」」（利き酒コーナー）へ。ここでは越後の96の代表銘柄が全てきき酒できます。
また駅の中にある温泉として話題の「酒風呂 湯の沢」では天然温泉にお酒をまぜた温泉に入浴できます。温泉に入った後は、大きな釜で魚沼産コシヒカリを炊き上げるお食事処「雪ん洞」へ。日本酒で一杯やりながら、新潟の食を味わいましょう。
