Today we visit the charming Pont de les Peixateries Velles in Girona.
Built on a framework of iron and painted red, the Pont de les Peixateries Velles (Old Fishmongers bridge) crosses the Onyar river and connects the old town of Girona with the most modern area of the city.
In 1876, the City hired Gustave Eiffel, known for his work with iron, to replace a temporary wooden bridge. Once the bridge was finished, the town people named it the Pont de les Peixateries Velles, in memory of the fish market that was once near the river.
From the bridge, you can see the houses hanging over the river Onyar. These buildings have facades painted in different colors that make up one of the most emblematic images of the city of Girona.

The Eiffel Bridge was constructed where four rivers meet. Girona has got eleven bridges!! The most famous is the one that was constructed by Gustave Eiffel just before the construction of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Cross the Onyar and go to a commercial street.
The picturesque houses overlooking the Onyar river also serve as a tourist attraction. One of the bridges over this river is the Pont de Ferro or Pont Eiffel. It was built by Gustave Eiffel et Companie around 1877 years before he built the famous Tour Eiffel in Paris. It is a pedestrian bridge.
he city of Girona is located about 100 km north of Barcelona. There are many tourist attractions in this city. The old Jewish ghetto or Call is one of the best preserved in Europe. The ancient cathedral is one of the most important examples of Spanish gothic architecture. The Passeig de la Muralla is a restored medieval defensive wall on the east side. It now forms a tourist route around the old city. The Plaza de La Independencia is a center of great activity with many excellent restaurants around it.

Places to see in ( Girona - Spain ) Esglesia de Sant Feliu
The Collegiate Church of St. Felix is a basilica dedicated to St. Felix in the Spanish city of Girona, dating to the early days of Christianity. It houses the offices of the Parish of Sant Feliu, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Girona, so called because it was the main church of Girona before the construction of the cathedral.
Esglesia de Sant Feliu construction, in honor of Felix of Girona (Sant Feliu), occurred from the 12th century until the 17th century. It retains much of the Romanesque construction, completed later with a Gothic nave and a covered baroque facade.
Esglesia de Sant Feliu is notable for its eight Roman and early Christian sarcophagi of the 3rd and 4th centuries, along with the Gothic tomb of Narcissus of Girona who, according to tradition, was one of the early bishops of the see.
