Carrer del Bisbe in gothic quarter, Barcelona, Spain (Night & Day)
The journey begins on Carrer del Bisbe, meaning ‘Bishop’s street’, where you will find the stunning neo-Gothic bridge known locally as the ‘Pont del Bisbe‘ or ‘Bishop’s Bridge’. The bridge crosses the street uniting buildings on either side: the ‘Casa dels Canonges‘ (Canon’s House) and the ‘Palau de la Generalitat‘. Although it blends in seamlessly with its Medieval surroundings, the bridge was in fact constructed in 1928 by Joan Rubió i Bellver. The architect’s ambition was to construct a series of new buildings inspired by the dominant Gothic style of the area, but his project was not accepted by the government, who only validated the construction of the Bishop’s Bridge. The architect, disappointed with the decision, secretly incorporated a hidden skull with a dagger inside. Legend says anyone who crosses the bridge and sees the skull will fall prey to an evil spell.

2. More About This Video ????
⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter can be really confusing! So many winding streets, so many tourists, so much to see! But it’s actually quite a small area, and it’s one of the most magical collections of 13-15th century buildings in the world.
And did you know that Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter is actually built on the remains of a 2,000 year old Roman settlement?
Also, not everything is as it seems in the Gothic Quarter. There are lots of secrets in this part of the city, but you have to know where to find them. I will show you!
To sum it up, the Gothic Quarter is a place you really need to visit. It’s also called the Barrio Gótico in Spanish and the Barri Gòtic in Catalan.
In this video I take you to XXXX of the must-see sites in the Gothic Quarter. These are places we visit and you’ll learn about on Devour Tour’s Tapas, Taverns & History Tour.
At each stop in the video, I give you some information behind the history of the area, and also a little Google marker with the name of the street or square so you can find it yourself.
So, where do we visit?
1. Plaça Nova - where the entry point to the Roman town was
2. Carrer del Paradís - where there is an amazing Roman temple
3. Behind the Cathedral - where you can see lots of hidden symbols
4. General Archive of the Crown of Aragon
5. Plaça del Rei - did Columbus stand on these steps?
6. Pont del Bisbe - the most photographed site in all of Barcelona… but it’s not as old as it seems!
7. Jewish Quarter (El Call) - a fascinating little tangle of streets with a long history
8. Plaça Sant Felipe Neri - my favourite square in the city… and with a dark secret
9. Plaça Sant Jaume - the perfect place to decode the Catalan independence issue
10. Pont de Mar - the exit point of the old Roman city!

The Gothic Quarter is in the center of the city of Barcelona. It stretches from La Rambla to Via Laietana, and from the Mediterranean seafront to Ronda de Sant Pere. It is part of Ciutat Vella district.
The Gothic Quarter was built primarily in the late 19th and early 20th century, though several buildings date from the medieval times.
The Barri Gotic retains a labyrinthine street plan, with many streets opening out into squares. Most of the Gothic Quarter is closed to traffic, apart from service vehicles and taxis.

BEST GOTHIC VIEWS – Exploring Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter
During our final day in Barcelona, Spain, we went on a DIY tour of the Gothic Quarter!
We visited three gothic churches, multiple plazas and other beautiful gothic architectural sites. We’ve put links below to all of our stops below.
The highlight of our tour was the Catedral de Barcelona! Seriously, if you’re in Barcelona, you must visit it! Included in the entrance cost is a visit to the roof of the cathedral. It’s such an amazing experience!
For lunch, we stopped at Tucco Real Food. The food was good given the prices, so it was a good value.
After exploring all day, we went back to our Airbnb to pack our suitcases for the next destination!
Enjoy the video and we’ll see y'all in our next one as we keep GOING PLACES!
