RAINBOW BEACH COOLOOLA HIGHLIGHTS - Things to see! Carlo Sandblow, Poona Lake & Inskip Point
Hi everyone,
The Cooloola region is such a beautiful area of Australia and has so much to offer.
I have been to Rainbow beach a few times, but never to Poona Lake so made for an interesting visit.
It was only a few short walks to see each of these locations, Poona lake was probably the longest at 2klm one way, but the swim after the walk was fantastic. Carlo Sand Blow was like a mini Sahara and Inskip is an awesome camping beach location.
I was actually visiting at a time Inskip was having another sand erosion episode, you can see that You tube clip below
Would totally recommend the area

Australia East Coast Road Trip | Airlie Beach to Rainbow Beach
Today we start a long 2 day road trip down the East coast from Mackay to Rainbow Beach. The total journey is roughly around 10 hours plus several stops along the way.
Day 1: We start just north of Mackay at the Bucasia Beachfront Caravan Resort. We pack up for the drive and get on the road in the morning.
We make a couple quick stops in Sarina for a snack and a visit to the information center.
We stop in Rockhampton and have lunch in the van on the river where we are surprised to find dolphin swimming in the river!
The highlight of the day is definitely seeing 5 kangaroos on the side of the road as the sun begins to set outside of Rockhampton.
We make it into 1770 after dark and settle in the for the night.
Day 2: After staying the night at the 1770 Camping Ground, we get back on the road heading south.
We make a stop in Bundaberg for lunch and a quick rum tasting at the distillery.
And finally we complete our long journey to Rainbow Beach just after dark. We have a big adventure planned the next 2 days so we get to bed early!

Great Beach Drive von Noosa bis Rainbow Beach | Queensland
Beim Great Beach Drive in Queensland erleben Australien-Reisende einen erstklassigen Roadtrip.

Searys Creek, Rainbow Beach, Qld
Crystal clear running water makes a nice home for the eel and catfish. Just 7 km from Rainbow Beach towards Gympie and Tin Can Bay, you will find a small carpark off the road. Set in ferns and melaleuca woods, take the boardwalk down to the one of the two swimming holes. It was great to see National Parks and Wildlife Service had recently updated the jetties. There is plenty of room for towels and drinks and spectators (it is cold!). Steps down into the water are easy for all ages and run straight into a sandy creek bottom. Stained with tannins from vegetation, the rainwater is tea coloured but transparent. No murky water today – we could see the little fish and big yabbies. A huge tree trunk lies across one end -perfect as another platform for launches across the water.
