July 2016. Pity I didn't get shots of the amazing moonless night sky. It was an amazing sight on cloudless nights. Porcupine Gorge is about 60 kms north of Hughenden, about 460 kms approximately from Townsville. Great few days!

Welcome to Porcupine Gorge, Australians Grand Canyon. Located only 60ks from Winton, it's a great little spot to adventure. It has its own campsite and waterhole for swimming. As you can see from our drone footage, it's beautiful.

Porcupine Gorge National Park

We explored Porcupine Gorge National Park in Queensland back in April and it still stands out as a highlight. It was perhaps the first day we stopped to rest, relax and truly enjoy a nature in all its beauty as a family. We practically had the gorge to ourselves to hike, swim and climb rocks.

Our camp was perched up in the National Park with great sunrise and sunset views. We had to hike about 1.5km down to the gorge, with a steep hike up after our morning exploring.

Leyland's Australia Episode 2: Rockhampton to Porcupine Gorge

The quartet leave Porcupine Gorge in central Queensland and travel north to Karumba in the gulf of Carpentatria. The traditional owners guide the Leyland's into a 6000 year old rock art site.

Continuing their great caravanning safari around Australia, Mal, Laraine, Carmen and Robert travel west from Rockhampton to Porcupine Gorge near Hughenden in central Queensland. .

Departing Karumba in the gulf of Carpentaria the Leyland's venture south to avoid roads inundated by wet season rains which block their progress west. .

The odyssey begins as Mal, Larraine, Carmen and Robert travel from Brisbane to Rockhampton in Queensland following Highway 17. Along the way the explore the Bunya Mountains, visit an Aboriginal.
