Walking to Coal Harbor Vancouver Canada **NEW**
Walking to Coal Harbor Vancouver Canada.
Coal Harbor is located between Vancouver, Canada's downtown peninsula and the Brockton Peninsula of Stanley Park. It is now become the name of the neighbourhood adjacent to its southern shoreline.
The northwestern section near Stanley Park features picturesque parkland, private marinas, several rowing and boating clubs, high-end shoppes and restaurants, and a community centre designed by architect Gregory Henriquez. To the east is Deadman's Island, the site of the naval station and museum HMCS Discovery, where the harbour itself opens up to the Burrard Inlet. Towards the Financial District in the southeast, the neighbourhood is dominated by high-rise office buildings, hotels and numerous apartment towers. Immediately south lies Vancouver's Luxury Zone along Alberni Street.
Coal Harbour is home to Vancouver Harbour Water Aerodrome, located a few blocks from Canada Place and the Vancouver Convention Centre. Within the harbour is a floating gas station for marine vessels.
The six floating homes in Coal Harbour, along with the twelve across town in False Creek are the only legal floating homes within the city of Vancouver

DFO: Boaters & Whale Encounters Increasing off Vancouver Island
VICTORIA - It's a close encounter on the water you have to see to believe.
A Port Alberni woman captured some amazing video while she and her husband were on a fishing trip just off Ucluelet.
A grey whale nudged her boat and swam underneath the small fishing vessel.
Weeks before, a whale breached meters from a fishing boat off Tofino, also caught on tape.
What are the odds?
The Department of Fisheries and Oceans say humans and whales are meeting more often than you might think.
Boaters are asked to be aware of their surroundings and slowly move away if whales are in the area. If a whale pops up by your boat, you should turn off the engine, let the whale pass and get out of the area.
