Ancient Mosque in Quanzhou-China
Ancient Mosque in Quanzhou-China
Qingjing Mosque in Quanzhou is The Oldest in China
Quanzhou, China was once an international port city on the maritime Silk Route and Marco Polo regarded the location as...one of the two ports of the world with the biggest flow of merchandise.
Qingjing Mosque is the oldest mosque in China and rated one of the top 10 Muslim holy sites in the world. Only a few portions of the original mosque survive due to an 8.1 earthquake in 1607.

Quanzhou: Where world cultures meet
There aren’t many cities in the world like Quanzhou, and you’ll soon see why. As the starting point of the ancient Maritime Silk Road, it was a place where China met the world, and the world met China. As a result, Quanzhou is full of cultural influences from all around the world: Christianity, Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Confucianism.... the list goes on!

Historic Shanghai street honoured for its cultural significance

BEHIND THE SCENE: Exploring Quanzhou with Nat Geo
I was a member of the National Geographic (Chinese Edition) photo team, I went on a photo shooting assignment to Quanzhou, a major city in Southeast China's Fujian province with the editor-in-chief and photo editor.
The magazine planned to do a feature story on how much impact oversea Chinese had on the construction of the city. These Chinese, after running good business in countries like the Philippines and Indonesia, usually repay their hometown. Mostly they donate significant amount of money to building shrines, infrastructure, and schools.
I shot this behind-the-scene video with Nikon D4s, iPhone 6 and GoPro Hero 3. I edited the footage with Adobe Premiere Pro 2014.
The story and photos are scheduled to be published on October's issue.
