SRF36- ILLAWARRA Pt2 - Port Kembla Loco & Wollongong Yard
Another low quality 80s video, this time taking in the Illawarra region.
1989
First we visit the Port Kembla loco depot to see what is on hand. Most of these locos have since been scrapped, these are outlined in the video.
44, 46, 48, 422 and 70 class are all to be found.
D7 is seen shunting CRM.
Then we move on to Wollongong yard to see the Flying Scotsman, along with the passing passenger train parade. The most exciting, for me anyway, being 4470 and Budd cars on an up service from Nowra.

SRF77-B: CRINGILA STATION (NSW, Australia)
EDITED & REPOSTED
Following a request, I headed on over to Cringila station to get some video and photos.
The station is located on the Port Kembla branch which skirts around the outside of the Bluescope Steelworks, in a mostly industrial area.
The future of passenger services on this line has been under a cloud for many years, so it was thought best to make the effort to capture it now.
If you enjoy transport videos, old and new, please consider subscribing. Then you will be notified each time a juicy new offering that spurts forth.
Hope you enjoy.

HILL 60 PORT KEMBLA VLOG - 27
HILL 60 PORT KEMBLA VLOG
Port Kembla's highest point, Hill 60, overlooks the Five Islands and Red Point. Hill 60, originally the site of an Aboriginal settlement, was used by the army during World War II to make a coastal gun emplacement known as Illowra Battery. In September 1942, Aboriginal inhabitants were forcibly evicted from the area.[7]It has remained in the army's ownership and is now a public lookout reserve, despite a vigorous campaign to return some of the land to its Aboriginal owners. Although not technically open to tourists, the tunnels are open, and can be explored by foot. The entrance to the tunnels is located almost under the coastguard tower on Hill 60, and can be seen down the left when standing at the information board, facing southeast.

Pacific NationalCoalie passes through Arncliffe at dusk.
A coal train from the NSW Western Coalfields passes through Arncliffe, bound for the South Coast port, Port Kembla.
Pacific National is the second largest coal haulage operator in Australia, delivering approximately 83 million tonnes of coal per annum by rail to both domestic and export markets.
The coal is hauled from the Hunter Valley and Southern and Western coalfields to the ports of Newcastle and Port Kembla, as well as domestic coal to power stations and steelworks located in NSW. Additionally coal is hauled in South Australia from Leigh Creek to the power station in Port Augusta.
Pacific National carries 93% of New South Wales's export coal. The annual value of the export coal exceeds $3 billion.
