Whitby is a town in Durham Region. Whitby is located in Southern Ontario east of Ajax and west of Oshawa, on the north shore of Lake Ontario, and is home to the headquarters of Durham Region. It had a population of 128,377[1] at the 2016 census and it is approximately 20 km (12 mi) east of the Toronto borough of Scarborough, and it is known as a commuter suburb in the eastern part of the Greater Toronto Area. While the southern portion of Whitby is predominantly urban and an economic hub, the northern part of the municipality is more rural and includes the communities of Ashburn, Brooklin, Myrtle, and Myrtle Station.

A visit to the Port Moody Station museum
While on a walk in a park in Port Moody, BC I decided to take a visit to the Port Moody Station Museum, I had a nice time there and I finally can get the time to visit the museum I get to see again since I was young up close after passing by it multiple times. I'd definitely like to visit it again some day! (When I have time of course)

Port Moody Museum - Vimy Ridge 2 day Event 2017
On April 8 and 9th, 2017 The Port Moody Museum and the Port Moody Historical Society hosted a Commemoration to those who fought and died at Vim Ridge in France during World War 1.
The event featured displays, lectures, entertainment and a Service of Remembrance featuring political dignitaries, representatives of the War Amps, The Canadian Legion and many more speakers.

Port Moody Museum - Candlelight Vigil 2017
Featured is the Great War talk by John Goheen on the Battle of Passchendaele followed by a candlelight vigil held in the trench at the Port Moody station Museum where Charlotte Cameron read from her book containing her one-act play Running: The Alex Decoteau Story, presented by PlayConnect. The play tells the story of Alex Decoteau who was the first Indigenous police officer in Canada, a runner in the 1912 Stockholm Olympics, and finally, a message runner in the Great War who died at the Battle of Passchendaele.
Port Moody Museum - A Trench Raid 2017

Port Moody Heritage Society Honours our Veterans, July 1st, 2014
Canada Day July 1st 2014, The T55 Tank arrives at the Port Moody Station Museum! Now you don't see that every day!!!!
The displays included multiple military vehicles and inside the Museum we showcased a replica of the Vimy Ridge Monument.
The McKnight Trench is located outside the Museum and pays tribute to our WWI and WWII efforts. Thank you Guy Black and family for your contributions to this event.

The Cancer Fundraising Group, Ride 2 Survive is a group of dedicated individuals working as a team to raise and donate 100% to Cancer Research. They have raised over 4 million dollars since their inception. They ride from Kelowna to Delta BC in 1 day!
CP CANADA 150 TRAIN #1401 - Port Moody July 28, 2017 Dean Brody Dirt Roads Scholar
Powered by Engine #1401 & #1900, the CP Canada 150 Train, CP Rail’s salute to the 150th birthday of the confederation, rolled into Port Moody, BC on July 28, 2017 looking just as elaborate as the annual CP Holiday Train at Christmas. Then at 8:30PM that night, the transcontinental journey across Canada to Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa began with Juno award-winning country music star Dean Brody (It's Friday, Dirt Roads Scholar, Upside Down, Canadian Girls, Time, Bob Marley, Bounty, Bring Down the House, Love Would Be Enough etc.), Aboriginal World Champion Hoop Dancer Dallas Arcand onboard and country singer Kelly Prescott (Hillbilly Jewels), fiddler Linsey Beckett & hose band The Rail Ramblers on board.
Port Moody Mayor Mike Clay and others helped kick off the cross-country event. The train leaves at around 8:30 PM at Port Moody BC on July 28, 2017 and travels across the country with scheduled stops at Revelstoke (July 29), Calgary (July 30), Edmonton (July 31), Saskatoon (Aug 01), Regina (Aug 02), Winnipeg (Aug 4), Thunder Bay (Aug 06), Sudbury (Aug 08), Hamilton (Aug 09), Toronto (Aug 11), Montreal (Aug 13), Ottawa (Aug 20).
The iconic diesel locomotive CP 1401 (1958) leads the train, powering more than 10 beautifully restored Royal Canadian Pacific heritage cars (1916-1931). The train makes its way across the country. Also included in the train is CP’s exclusive retrofitted stage car from which event-goers will be treated to a truly Canadian performance.
