Diving Port Noarlunga Jetty And Reef, South Australia

South Australia: Port Noarlunga Jetty and Reef
Produced with CyberLink PowerDirector 17
Port Noarlunga is a picturesque seaside village located approximately 30 kilometres south of Adelaide and perfect to swim, kayak, snorkel, dive and fish and also home to SNUBA (combination of snorkelling and scuba diving). The red sandstone beach cliffs, long jetty and reef, make it one of the iconic diving destinations in the state.
The off-shore Port Noarlunga Reef and aquatic reserve forms part of the Encounter Marine Park - a divers and snorkelers paradise and also viewable from the end of the jetty. The reef is home to more than 200 species of marine plants, which the fish love too and can be further discovered by the self guided Aquatic Trail for divers.
The safe swimming beach is patrolled by the Port Noarlunga Surf Lifesaving Club over the warmer months and also forms part of the Mid Coast regional surfing reserve - Australia's first!

Port Noarlunga Reef Scuba Dive - Southern Shallows (Diving Adelaide)
Awesome dive in the Southern Shallows - the southern part of the Port Noarlunga Reef! This part of the reef is harder to reach than the northern part (which can simply be dived from the jetty) and therefore not dived that often.
Brett and Ron decided to explore the whole southern part of the reef, including the gap (where marker number 8 is located) - a dive that took us 86 minutes with a maximum depth of 18.3 metres in the gap (the average depth is only about 4-6 metres).
The conditions were great with about 10 metres visibility and a little bit of surge. We dived it on a sunny Autumn day when there was a dodge tide (minimal tidal movement). The water temperature was 20 degrees Celsius.

Port Noarlunga - South Australia
Diving Port Noarlunga Jetty and Reef. Port Noarlunga is an ideal location to be introduced to Scuba Diving. The Jetty provides easy access to the water along with protection below high tide from the reef that runs parallel to the shore line, at the end of the Jetty.
This is a common teaching ground for beginner divers due to these reasons,
It is still appreciated by the most experienced of divers for the diversity of marine life that makes this area their home, and which varies between the seasons.
In this video you will see images of the underwater trail, and what could be expected to be seen. Photographs from night dives are also included, capturing some of the usual and not so common residents and visitors to Port Noarlunga marine park.
I hope you enjoy the short video, and take the time to visit the Port Noarlunga area, or better still, take the Plunge.
Thanks for your interest.
Port Noarlunga Reef Part 2
Yesterday I was diving at high tide for a change and swam to the Western side of the reef at Port Noarlunga which is usually too rough to dive, but yesterday was very calm and I recorded hundreds of fish and one or two I have never seen before. South Port Beach - Port Noarlunga-Adelaide-South Australia
South Port Beach is located some 30 klms from the CBD at Port Noarlunga.
This beach was voted Australia's cleanest beach in 2016.
The South Port Surf life saving club is also situated here and the beach is a favourite with the local surfers when the swell is up.
.
This mid-coast surf beach, bordered by the Onkaparinga River, estuary and lime stone cliffs, stands out in all its majestic lime stone colours changing throughout the day.
There are small rocky out crops of the lime stone cliffs and foreshore
(to the south of South Port Beach and Onkaparinga River estuary)
where the clear water and pockets of white sand are just begging for swimmers/sunbathers who want their own piece of tranquility and space.
