The Mercato di Porta Portese begins, as the name suggests, at the Porta Portese, a former city gate in Trastevere.
It takes place every Sunday from 9:00 to 14:00. With about 4500 stands, the Mercato di Porta Portese is one of the biggest markets in Europe.
Along the Via Portuense the usual market offerings are sold. Food, meat, vegetables, clothes, shoes, sunglasses, cosmetics, household goods, car accessories, etc.
Already at the entrance the big price tags signal that here the goods are sold via price and quantity.
Near the square of Largo Alessandro Toja the Via Ippolito Nieva branches off. Here we meet the band Etruska jazz, which drags the audience along with their playing and singing. Spontaneously a couple joins in and offers excellent dance performance. The Italian photographer Giuseppe Galante has fun to photograph us during the shoot. Each has its pleasure!
We walk along the Via Hipolito Nieva, where mainly furniture, pictures, equipment, porcelain and supposed or real works of art are offered.
We finish the Sunday leisurely with a lot of new experiences and make our way to the center of Trastevere.

Der Mercato di Porta Portese beginnt, wie der Name bereits andeutet, an der Porta Portese, einem ehemaligen Stadttor in Trastevere.
Er findet jeden Sonntag von 9.00 bis 14.00 statt. Der Mercato di Porta Portese ist mit rund 4500 Ständen einer der größten Märkte in Europa.
Entlang der Via Portuense werden die üblichen Marktangebote verkauft. Lebensmittel, Fleisch, Gemüse, Kleidung, Schuhe, Sonnenbrillen, Kosmetika, Haushaltswaren, Autozubehör, etc.
Bereits am Eingang signalisieren die großen Preisschilder, dass hier über den Preis und die Menge verkauft wird.
Am Platz Largo Alessandro Toja zweigt die Via Ippolito Nieva ab. Hier treffen wir auf die Band EtruSka Jazz, die mit ihrem Spiel und Gesang das Publikum mitreißen. Spontan gesellt sich ein Pärchen hinzu und bietet eine hervorragende Tanz Performance. Der italienische Fotograf Guiseppe Galante macht sich den Spaß uns beim Filmen zu fotografieren. So hat jeder sein Vergnügen!
Wir gehen die Via Ippolito Nieva entlang, an der hauptsächlich Möbel, Bilder, alt Geräte, Porzellan und vermeintliche oder tatsächliche Kunstwerke angeboten werden.
Wir lassen den Sonntag gemächlich mit jeder Menge neuer Eindrücke ausklingen und machen uns auf den Weg ins Zentrum von Trastevere.

PORTA PORTESE
Porta Portese è il mercato di Roma per eccellenza, ricordato anche dall’intramontabile canzone di Baglioni. Questo luogo vivace, tipicamente romano, è stato fonte d’ispirazione per registri, scrittori e cantanti.
Il mercato di Porta Portese è sorto intorno al 1945 come nuova sede della borsa nera che si teneva a Campo de’ Fiori. In questo luogo, nel dopoguerra, “i romani de Roma” potevano vendere, comprare e barattare gli oggetti più strani. Oggi, al susseguirsi delle generazioni di ambulanti, si sono uniti marocchini, indiani e cinesi, rendendo Porta Portese uno dei mercati più famosi in Italia e in Europa per la sua multi-etnicità e per la possibilità di trovare gli oggetti più impensabili. Infatti, si dice che a Porta Portese “puoi trovare di tutto dalla pillola al Jumbo Jet”.
Questo perché, come tutti i mercatini delle pulci, anche questo mercato offre qualsiasi tipo di cianfrusaglia, libro, antiquariato, giocattolo, disco, mobile, cosmetico e cartoline d’epoca. E’ possibile trovare dall’ argento indiano, al capo in pelle venduto dagli africani, alle scarpe e abbigliamento “taroccato”. Di sicuro non è un mercato alimentare, ma nonostante ciò ci sono anche delle bancarelle in cui è possibile comprare noccioline tostate, ciambelline fritte e taralli pugliesi. Insomma, l’elenco delle cose da trovare è così vasto che si potrebbe continuare all’infinito. Come ogni mercato che si rispetti, è possibile contrattare sul prezzo della merce, si possono chiedere sconti, si può toccare tutto senza poi comprare niente. Gli ambulanti tirano i passanti verso le loro bancarelle, cercano di attrarli con le chiacchiere e li conquistano con la simpatia, così, anche chi si reca a Porta Portese solo per curiosità, ritorna a casa con le mani pieni di buste.

Porta Portese is a weekly Sunday flea market that is located near the ancient Porta Portese city gate. It is located in/around the neighbourhood or zone of Trastevere and can be accessed easily by public transportation.
The market is a huge attraction for both locals and tourists, who gather to its many stalls to by trinkets and necessary household goods. There are also many cafes and food stands around the market for hungry shoppers.
Of course, because it is so crowded, it is important to be aware of the possibility of being pickpocketed! Guard your wallet!

On March 10, 2019 we were able to experience the mile-long flea market held at the Piazza di Porta Portese, which held every Sunday morning. We arrived at seven in the morning, about an hour before the market truly began. This allowed us to see the empty plaza quickly transition into a bustling market filled with vendors proudly advertising their stalls to potential customers looking to haggle. Clothes, antiques, food, and more can be found throughout the market, being sold by an array of vendors that showcase the true diversity that Rome has to offer. It was exciting to take part in a market that thousands of people have been gathering to since the second world war.

You can get to the Porta Portese market by catching multiple buses, including the #280 or #23. They both get you close to the main gate. You can also, from Largo Argentina, catch the #8 tram across the Tiber. It's the fifth stop after you cross the river. 벼룩시장이 있었다. 알고 보니 100년 전부터 있었다는데, 1km에 걸쳐 약 1500여개의 상점이 있다고 한다. 관광객도 있지만 현지인인 로마사람들도 자주 들르는 곳이다. 골동품부터 생필품 까지 정말 없는 거 빼고 다 있는 도깨비 시장 같은 곳인데 50년간 사용하던 흔들의자부터 다양한 생활용품들까지 로마사람들의 오랜 생활 자취를 엿볼 수 있었다. “어렸을 때 어머니가 저 기계를 돌리며 커피콩을 볶으면 냄새를 맡곤 했습니다.” 시장에는 역시 흥을 돋우는 악사가 있는 법. 얼핏 보기에는 우리나라 전통시장의 약 장수 같기도 하다. 혼자서 북 치고 장구 치고 노래 부르며 사람들을 마냥 신나고 즐겁게 해준다.
