Dunseverick County Antrim Northern Ireland
A trip to Dunseverick and a chance to watch the sunset and a very early sunrise to the soundtrack of Above & Beyond 'Sun In Your Eyes'. Also a chance to see the very unknown place called Port Moon and the bothy at the bottom of the cliffs.
Sights of Northern Ireland
I've travelled to Northern Ireland several times and I really love it there. So I've put together a collection of my photos from several parts I have visited. Photos include: Ballintoy Harbour, Belfast Giants, Bushmills, Carrick-A-Rede, Castlerock Beach, Dunluce Castle, Giants Causeway, Glenariff, Mussenden Temple, Portbradden, Rathlin Island, & Whitepark Bay,
360 Degree Video - Ballintoy Beach - Ballintoy Harbour
Ballintoy Harbour in Co. Antrim - a great location for a beach or cliff walk. There is a historic harbour where the waves crash around. Ballintoy beach and Game of Thrones Ballintoy is well known for the TV show. There are some lovely Ballintoy harbour cottages and its possible to see sheep island and the rope bridge in the distance. All this in 360 degree video!
For those who are not familiar with this place we have been at, Ballintoy Harbour - which is translated from the Irish dictionary to the northern townland - is a small village, townland, and civil parish in county Antrim, Northern Ireland, that is located North East of Coleraine, West of Ballycastle and between it and Bushmills. This village or small town is located one kilometer away from Ballintoy Harbour which we have taken this video at.
Ballintoy Harbour is a small fishing harbour at the end of a very small, narrow, and steep road down Knocksaughey, which passes by the entrance to Larrybane and Carrick-a-Rede Rope bridge. We have been to these different spots and we finally ended them with the Ballintoy Harbour where we took different pictures and brought this 360 degree video to life.
We have been filming this video at the Ballintoy Harbour but when it comes to this small village, there are other beautiful things and places that one could enjoy, such as a couple of small shops that you could stroll by and enter, about two churches are found there - one of them is the quaint white Ballintoy Parish Church that is located on the hill above the harbour - as well as some restaurants along with commercial and social facilities.
Among all the different other locations in Northern Ireland where the famous movie series Game of Thrones was filmed, Ballintoy Harbour was one of them and that's the reason why a lot of people started to know more about it and started to make plans to visit different locations related to Game of Thrones.
I always believe that the more one visits the hidden gems of a specific place or village, the more he/she will find more beautiful places - which is exactly part of what we are doing and what we face. Ballintoy Harbour is one of those destinations which we enjoyed because of sitting there by the water and needing nothing else - maybe just a cup of tea :-).
I have been to several other destinations which are near Ballintoy Harbour - and enjoyed every single one of them - and from the ones which I would recommend for those trying to explore Northern Ireland the way am doing, there is the Giant's Causeway, which is a truly different kind of experience and which is one place I liked very much - lots of things to be seen there ( Another exciting place - not historical yet is interesting to walk through - is the Carrick-a-Rede Rope bridge which is also in the same area close to the Ballintoy Harbour ( Not all the places that one visit are related to nature, there is also the famous Old Bushmills Distillery which you could visit and enjoy that old place where whiskey is being done and produced and where you could also bring yours back home as well - we have also been there before and enjoyed walking in this old place (
You could also check these two videos for Bushmills place which we have brought out to life during our visit ( and (
We managed to visit some places in Ballintoy or even close enough to them, but there are those which we - unfortunately - still didn't get the chance to pass by and see what they have to offer. From those other recommendations which you could head out for but which we still didn't manage to cover yet, there is Kinbane Castle (actually there are lots of different castles in Northern Ireland in general which one could check and which we have already been to some of them), there is also the Dunseverick Castle which is also close to Ballintoy Harbour and which you could visit while being there, another place in the area is the Bonamargy Friary, the Dunseverick Falls, the Portbradden Harbour the Causeway School Museum, the Shepherd's Steps, and there is also the Northcoast-National Trust.
Northern Ireland is rich with different places and destinations which one could choose from and this will depend on where you are going to stay during your vacation - Irish people could definitely plan a trip every now and then around their own county - at least something we could win at :-)
Have you ever been to any of these different places near Ballintoy? Have you ever visited the Ballintoy Harbour? We would love to know more about your experience if there is any, so please share with us what you have been through before.
