Porteau Cove Provincial Park is located along the Sea to Sky highway in western British Columbia, Canada. This beautiful park features some of the most breathtaking views of Howe Sound and the surrounding mountains. A great places to stop if you are on your way to Whistler or Squamish B.C.

Edit: I've crunched the numbers and it appears that I won't be able to complete this project in my lifetime, especially given all that there is to see and do in this world! I've always said that you can spend a lifetime just exploring BC and not come near to seeing it all. The same can be said for every region of Canada, every mountain range, and every country. These are good problems to have. Where do you want to explore in the near future?
Porteau Cove is located along the shore of Howe Sound between Vancouver and Squamish. I have focused on the wildlife and plants in the area, however the park is also popular with campers and scuba divers.

Porteau Cove Provincial Park 2018
Porteau Cove Provincial Park is situated on the eastern shore of Howe Sound, approximately 38 kilometres north of Vancouver and 20 kilometres south of Squamish. To get there follow the Sea to Sky Highway north from West Vancouver until you reach the sign for Porteau Cove Provincial Park (not Porteau Road which is 2km south of the park). Turn left off of the highway into the park.

Our first trip to Porteau Cove in North Vancouver. Porteau Cove is located on the Howe Sound, the most southerly fjord in North America, 38 km north of Vancouver on the Sea-to-Sky Highway, 20 km south of Squamish, 8.5 km south of Britannia Beach. Other nearby communities include Brackendale and Lions Bay.
Fishing, shellfish harvesting or removal of other marine life is not allowed.
Pets/domestic animals must be on a leash at all times and are not allowed in beach areas or park buildings
Campfires are permitted in designated fire rings only. Firewood is available for sale, or park visitors may opt to bring their own. Collection and burning of driftwood is prohibited. Beach wood is an essential component of the inter-tidal zone. Collection and burning of woody debris such as leaves, branches etc. is also prohibited. Beach fires are not permitted.
Scuba diving from the pier and washing dishes are prohibited.
Nude sunbathing is prohibited in the camping area.

Alice Lake Park in Squamish B.C.
Alice Lake is located just north of Squamish, B.C., the outdoor recreational capital of Canada (that may be self proclaimed). The park is a wonderful recreational area for swimming, kayaking, biking, camping or just relaxing by the water.

Porteau Cove Provincial Park is located on Howe Sound about 35 minutes north of Vancouver and about 20 minutes south of Squamish. There are approximately 40 to 45 RV accessible sites, most located directly on the water and all have electricity. There are also a number of walk-in camping sites. Howe Sound is the most southerly fjord in North America.

Porteau Cove Provincial Park is a short drive north of Vancouver and provides a beautiful and serene view of Howe Sound. There are occasional trains, which can be quite loud, but the scenery more than made up for it, in our opinion.

▷ Alice Lake is surrounded by towering mountains, dense forests and grassy areas. There are four fresh water lakes that dominate the landscape and make swimming and fishing very enjoyable pastimes. The trail around Alice Lake is a popular one for an evening stroll and for the more adventurous there is the Four Lakes Trail. There are excellent views of the Squamish River and the Tantalus Range from the DeBeck’s Hill Trail. This is a favourite family park.
▷ The Sea to Sky Gondola is located on Highway 99 just south of Squamish, a scenic 45 minute drive from downtown Vancouver. A 10 minute gondola ride will take you up to a truly magical place with some of the most spectacular views you will ever see and activities for all interests and ages.
As you rise from the water’s edge on the valley floor, the view opens up before you: the bright blue water of Howe Sound, dotted with green islands and backed by the steep mountains of the Coast Range; the majestic Stawamus Chief; and a bird’s eye view of the town of Squamish with the rugged, snow-capped mountains to the north.
You will arrive at the Summit Lodge where the experience continues. A popular spot for spectacular photos is the 100 metre Sky Pilot Suspension Bridge.
