DIVING THE WRECK OF THE SPIRIDIAN VAGLIANO, THE MANACLES, CORNWALL,UK
I FILMED THIS YESTERDAY DIVING FROM PORTHKERRIS DIVE CENTRE, WITH DAVE BROWN AT THE HELM OF THE CELTIC KITTEN.
A GREAT LITTLE DIVE, THO IT FELT RATHER COLD IN OUR WETSUITS AT 8-9 DEGREES CELSIUS.
VIS WAS PRETTY GOOD AND DUE TO THE FACT IT IS STILL JUST SPRING, THE KELP HAS NOT GROWN YET, SO IDEAL TIME OF YEAR TO DIVE.
SORRY THAT THE VID ON THE WRECK STARTS RATHER DARK, BUT I FORGOT TO CHANGE ISO SETTINGS ON THE CAMERA AS I AM STILL FAMILIARISING MYSELF WITH IT. A CANON 650D.
PLENTY WRASSE AND POLLACK ON THE WRECK....ONE WAS ALMOST 18 INCHES LONG. NORMALLY YOU GET CONGA EELS AND NUDIBRANCHS ETC.
THE WRECK IS ON THE OUTER PART OF THE MANACLES WHICH IS A SITE OF MANY TRAGIC WRECKS, THE MOHEGAN IS NEARBY AND CAN BE INCORPORATED INTO THE DIVE.
WE SET OFF FROM PORTHKERRIS DIVE CENTRE THAT HAS 2 MAIN BOATS AND A RIB. FANTASTIC CREW THERE, AND IS ALWAYS A PLEASURE DIVING WITH THEM. THERE IS A VERY NICE SHORE DIVE FROM PORTHKERRIS ALSO AT DRAWNA ROCKS. THEY HAVE A COMPRESSOR ONSITE TO AIR AND NITROX REFILLS ARE AT HAND.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY, SUBSCRIBE IF YOU WANT TO SEE MORE DIVE CLIPS AS I WILL ALWAYS BE UPDATING!

TSAC Diving with Porthkerris Divers at Lizard in Cornwall August 2015
Teddington Sub Aqua Club visited Porthkerris Divers at Lizard in Cornwall for 4 days of Diving at The Manacles and surrounding sites. We dived from the Celtic Kitten on a couple of wrecks including the Mohegan and Volnay, had a drift dive and saw Conger eels, Large Crabs, assorted fish and a pod of Dolphins off the bow.
Porthoustock, Cornwall
Porthoustock is a coastal hamlet in the parish of St Keverne on Cornwall's Lizard peninsula. Although originally being a fishing hamlet, during the 1890's Porthoustock's main industry turned to quarrying. This can clearly be seen by the large abandoned concrete stone mill which jets out to sea from near the cove. This can also be seen by the still working West of England quarry, which is owned by Aram Resources and is Porthoustock's largest contributor to its economy.
Porthoustock is located within a Site of Special Scientific Interest, Coverack to Porthoustock SSSI for the hamlets geology.
Another interesting thing about Porthoustock is that it was the birthplace of Mrs Annie Margaret Hold, one of the survivors of the Titanic.
Today, Porthoustock stands as a collection of houses with a pebbly beach. Porthoustock can be found between Leggan Cove and Porthkerris Beach and in between the coastal villages of Coverack and Porthallow. Porthoustock is 1 mile from St Keverne.

Dean Quarry Short
One beautiful evening up at Dean Quarry. It was sad to see that the old buildings had been demolished. Last year you could wander into the abandoned locker rooms and the doctors site office. The stretcher and files were still there. Now all that remains are the bare structures but I still think they have a monumental quality and atmosphere which I have tried to capture on this little film. I hope you like it.
Kayak Trip - Porthoustock and the Manacles - Cornwall UK
November 2012 Kayaking trip at Porthoustock, around the inshore sections of the Manacles. Dean Quarry loading Cargo Ship Shoreham, this will now be rare footage as the Quarry is now being shut down. My biggest disaster in this film was missing capturing a very big Basking Shark, it was so close at the time I had to avoid foul hooking it with my fishing gear. By the time I had retrieved my line the shark had slipped back off into the depths.
It was a very calm day but there was a fresh south westerly wind blowing so I could not get around as far as I would have liked, just out from the shelter of the rocks was a little choppy.
Filmed with Panasonic DMC-FT20, I now have a GoPro Hero3 black edition to go with this.
