Porto Bridge Climb. Ponte da Arrabida, Oporto, Portugal
A little bit of footage of our bridge climb experience in Porto, Portugal on Friday 28th September 2018. It's a steep walk at the bottom but really very easy overall so I'd encourage anyone to do it. Only 15 euros for a 45-minute experience. Well worth it for the views at the top. Thanks to Ines, our wonderful guide. So friendly and informative.

The double-decked Ponte Luis I bridge connecting Ribiera and Vila Nova de Gaia, spanning the Rio Douro, is perhaps the most iconic monument in Porto Portugal.
Come with us on this Porto 4K walking tour as we cross the Rio Douro from Vila Nova de Gaia to Ribiera. High above the water, there'll be spectacular views of the river, Cais de Ribiera and Cais de Gaia.
We cross the Ponte Luis I bridge on the upper deck away from traffic. We'll spot various important landmarks such as the Funicular Of Guindais, Bolsa Palace, Ribiera Square (Praça da Ribeira Porto), Paço Episcopal, the Lada Lift, Teleférico de Gaia (cable car) and the Rotunda da Boavista (Portugal's largest Ferris wheel.)

Porto Bridge Jump
Jumping from Dom Luís I Bridge
Dom Luís I Bridge, Porto, Norte, Portugal, Europe
The Dom Luís I Bridge is a double-decked metal arch bridge that spans the Douro River between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal. At the time of construction its span of 172 m was the longest of its type in the world. The government held a competition for the construction of a metallic bridge over the Douro River on a site that was adjacent to an existing bridge that it would replace. Théophile Seyrig had engineered the D. Maria Pia Bridge project nearby, whilst working as a partner of Gustave Eiffel. He now took sole responsibility for the new, major Luís I Bridge. The construction was begun in 1881 and the bridge opened on 31 October 1886 (the upper deck; the lower deck opened in 1887). Originally and for more than a century, the bridge carried road traffic on both decks. Along with other vehicles, electric trams crossed the upper deck from 1908 until May 1959, and trolleybuses crossed both decks from May 1959 until 1993. In 2003, the top deck was closed to private motor traffic and since that time the top deck has been occupied by Line D of the Metro do Porto light rail system (which opened in 2005) and a pedestrian walkway, offering great views on the historic center of Porto, the Port wine caves of Vila Nova de Gaia and the river Douro. In 1982, the bridge was designated a cultural heritage Property of Public Interest (Imóvel de Interesse Público) by IGESPAR, the Institute for the Management of Architectural and Archaeological Heritage, a national agency. The bridge often is confused with the nearby Maria Pia Bridge, a railway bridge built nine years earlier and located a kilometre to the east. However, although they bear a strong resemblance to one another, the earlier bridge has only one deck.
City break : Portugal : Porto - The Ribeira distric Dom Luis I Bridge on the Douro River from drone
Porto is the second-largest city in Portugal and one of the major urban areas of the Iberian Penisula. A gem in the North of Portugal famous for its Port wine, Porto is colourful city, cherished as a World Heritage Site. Its unique quirkiness is attributed to the jumble of styles and eras which make up its foundations. On top of this, the city is a lively hub for all ages, sharing a love of culture, food and music which makes a city break to Porto a popular destination for tourists year upon year.
The city boasts an extensive history, interesting tourist attractions and a buzzing nightlife. There is a lot to see and do in Porto.
Take the funicular to the top level and walk across - amazing views. Walk down the streets at the Gaia side of the river and visit the Port Houses. Cafes are cheaper this side of the river too.
The Ribeira district - The oldest district of the city which is filled with ancient houses, narrow cobbled streets and numerous family owned restaurants, cafes and bars.
The Dom Luís I Bridge is a double-deck metal bridge that spans the River Douro between the cities of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia in Portugal. At its construction, its 172 metres span was the longest of its type in the world. It has been confused with the nearby Maria Pia Bridge, a railway bridge that was built 9 years earlier.
There are trains that run in the middle of the bridge only a few feet from the walking area. That said, the walk across the bridge is worth the sights and sounds. The views from this Eiffel bridge are wonderful.
Portugal TRAVEL GUIDE. Best Places to Visit in Porto | Porto Bridge Climb. Arrabida Bridge
Hi friends. This video about Portugal. See more on same playlist.
The Arrábida Bridge is an arch bridge of reinforced concrete, that carries six lanes of traffic over the Douro River, between Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia, in Norte region of Portugal.
In March 1952, a preliminary project for a roadway bridge was adjudicated to Professor Edgar António Mesquita Cardoso, by the JAE. It was approved in 1955.
The construction of the bridge proceeded in May 1957.[2] By decree 42/234, dated 22 April 1959, the Ministério das Obras Públicas (Public Works Ministry) promoted, through their respective City Councils, the construction of modest dwellings for the accommodation of families that needed to be demolished, as a result of the construction of access to the bridge. By 22 June 1963, the bridge was concluded and inaugurated. At the time of its completion, the bridge's main span of 270 metres (890 ft) was the largest of any concrete-arch bridge in the world.
In the 1990s, the elevators on the bridge were deactivated.

Last Day in Porto - Porto Bridge Climb and Francesinha
Our last day in Porto we finally climb the Porto Bridge then try Francesinha, a traditional Portuguese sandwich (heart attack on a plate). We then make our way to our next destination, Madeira.
Porto Bridge Climb
