1622; نبرد ایران و پرتغال بر سر خلیج فارس Iran Portugal war over Persian gulf. English subtitle
1453 fall of Constantinople to Ottomans cut land trade routes to east.At the time pepper was very popular in Europe. This led to a hike in pepper price and mariners searched for a sea route to east.In 1498 Vasco da Gama crossed the cape of good hope and invaded port of Goa in India.leading to Portuguese monopoly in pepper trade for a century.1507 Alfonso de Albuquerque landed in Island of Hormoz.1515 Portugal annexed the island. At the time Hormoz was a major international trade hub.Portuguese established a vassal kingdom in Hormoz and built a fort. This was a part of Emmanuel king of Portugal decision to end Muslim trade Indian ocean by Invasion of Hormoz, Bab al mandab and Melaka. In 1521 Kingdom of Hormoz And Portugal Invaded Bahrain. However Iran had a strong army, they lacked navy and were busy fighting Ottomans and Uzbeks in west and east thus Portugal kept the islands through 16th century. In 1602 by order of Shah Abbas of Iran Bahrain was recaptured but in 1612 Portuguese invaded Gombron. In 1622 Iran lay siege to Portuguese fort in island of Gheshm but they needed ships for capturing Hormoz. In return for facilitation in silk trade , East India Company sent 9 ships to assist Iranians. At the time Iran was a major silk producer and this silk industry continued until 1720s Russian invasion of Northern Iran.English Ships opened fire on fort of Gheshm which led to quick surrender of Portuguese.Iran and English forces lay a 10 weeks siege on fort of Hormoz. Eventually Portuguese gave up and retreated to Muscat, Oman.As the result Iran became dominant power of Persian gulf for the next 200 years until 19th century.

IRAN 2019 | Two Beautiful islands in the Persian Gulf
Hormuz island is a special place, this is a geological wonderland…
PORTUGUESE CASTLE
The Fort of Our Lady of the Conception, also known as the Portuguese Castle, is a red stone fortress on Hormuz Island, Iran. It is one of the last surviving monuments of Portuguese colonial rule in the Persian Gulf. Ormuz (or Hormuz) was an important maritime city and a small kingdom near the entrance to the Persian Gulf
RAINBOW VALLEY
Hormuz Island is a dome-shaped salty Island located in the Strait of Hormuz, about 8 kilometers off the Iranian coast. The island is arid (the climate is very hot in summer), covered by sedimentary rock and layers of volcanic material. There are many virgin beaches and the mountains are amazingly colorful.
QESHM ISLAND
PORTUGUESE FORTRESS
This fortress was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century when they seized Qeshm in a strategic effort to maintain control over the Strait of Hormuz. The fortress was used for over a century, and today, four watchtowers, a number of cannons, and two cisterns still exist.
KHORBAS CAVE
Overlooking the Persian Gulf, Khorbas Cave is part natural, part man-made. The caves are connected from the inside by a series of tunnels said to have been carved out by ancient Iranians. It is said that this cave may have been used as a look-out system to warn against impending attacks.
VALLEY OF THE STARS
Locals believe that a star once fell on this area thereby creating the rocky shapes that make it seem as if from another planet. In fact, it is the result of years of erosion by heavy precipitation. The valley is composed of marl and sandstone, and the rock formations vary from tall pillars, creating canyon-like paths, to hollowed-out spaces and smooth, round stones. With a little imagination, the eye can make out the shapes of faces, hands, animals, and even the map of Iran. A short hike to the top and you can see the layered mountain rock embedded with seashells. Local legend has it that the Valley of the Stars is full of ruh [spirits].
CHAHKOOH PASS
The striking natural beauty of Chahkooh, literally mountain of wells, has been named as such because of the wells at the beginning of the pass. The pass starts out wide but becomes more narrow, the walls nearly touching at some parts. Similar to the Valley of the Stars, Chahkooh is the result of erosion from rainwater on sedimentary stone.
This valley which has been created in a layer of sand and due to the existence of marl layers, silt and lime and their dissolving erosion in holes, several beautiful ruts have been created. Since the floor of the valley is the place on which water flows after each time raining, the locals have graved well (Chah in Persian) on it to make use of water, so the name “Chahkooh’ which means “Mount Well” has accordingly been chosen for it.
NAZ ISLAND
Situated on the southern coast of Qeshm. At low tide, you can stroll on the soft sand full of colorful seashells and coral
HARA FOREST
Located just behind Qeshm’s northern ‘fin,’ this forest is an 8,000-hectare biosphere reserve of mangroves, or hara as they are known locally
