SwissTravelChannel is a YouTube channel of my holiday’s trips videos, taken all around the world since 2008. Some are for pure tourism and others are more of an adventure. The videos usually show the top best tourist attractions, the top things to do and top places to see. The goal is to inspire others on their next vacations. The videos can also be seen as a guide to have an idea of the main highlights and places to explore. I love to take pictures of the nature, traditions and different cultures, to search the must-see spots and show the essentials in my videos, for this reason I always try to create the perfect vacation. Traveling is more than a hobby for me, is a way of life.

AMALFI (source Wikipedia):
Amalfi is a town and comune in the province of Salerno, in the region of Campania, Italy, on the Gulf of Salerno. It lies at the mouth of a deep ravine, at the foot of Monte Cerreto (1,315 metres, 4,314 feet), surrounded by dramatic cliffs and coastal scenery. The town of Amalfi was the capital of the maritime republic known as the Duchy of Amalfi, an important trading power in the Mediterranean between 839 and around 1200.
In the 1920s and 1930s, Amalfi was a popular holiday destination for the British upper class and aristocracy.
Amalfi is the main town of the coast on which it is located, named Costiera Amalfitana (Amalfi Coast), and is today an important tourist destination together with other towns on the same coast, such as Positano, Ravello and others. Amalfi is included in the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
A patron saint of Amalfi is Saint Andrew, the Apostle, whose relics are kept here at Amalfi Cathedral (Cattedrale di Sant'Andrea/Duomo di Amalfi).
CAPRI (source Wikipedia):
Capri is an island located in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the Sorrentine Peninsula, on the south side of the Gulf of Naples in the Campania region of Italy. The main town Capri that is located on the island shares the name. It has been a resort since the time of the Roman Republic.
Some of the main features of the island include the following: the Marina Piccola (the little harbour), the Belvedere of Tragara (a high panoramic promenade lined with villas), the limestone crags called sea stacks that project above the sea (the Faraglioni), the town of Anacapri, the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra), and the ruins of the Imperial Roman villas.
Capri is part of the region of Campania, Province of Naples. The town of Capri is the island's main population centre. The island has two harbours, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande (the main port of the island). The separate comune of Anacapri is located high on the hills to the west.
Visiting Hadrians Villa and Villa D'Este in Tivoli
We were invited to a party at The Beehive in Rome so we decided to make a weekend of it.
We drove from Positano to Tivoli (3 hours) and visited the old Roman estate of Villa Adriana, Hadrians Villa and spent a couple of hours there.
Then we drove up to the centre of Tivoli for lunch and a visit to the Renaissance Villa D'Este before heading into the centre of Rome for the party.
Tivoli is about 40 minutes drive away from Rome, easy to visit both villas in one day. It is also accessible by public transport from Rome.
All the Villas in Tivoli are dog friendly!

Trafalgar Bus Tour: Best of Italy 13 days Slide Show Oct 8-21, 2016
This was a Trafalgar Bus Tour from Oct 8 thru 21, 2016 departing from Toronto Canada. We flew Air Atalia from Toronto Pearson airport to Rome Italy with stops in Rome, Pompeii, the Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Assisi, Venice, Milan, Lake Como, Pisa, Siena, Florence and back to Rome for our return flight.
The weather was very good; only a couple of 'soft' days and high temperatures hovering around 20 Celcius - quite comfortable.
Our trip lasted 13 days. Danilo was our excellent tour director and Roberto was our bus driver and both were fantastico.
Great tour; highly recommended! I lost 10 pounds on our China trip but probably gained 10 pounds on this one! The Italians eat very well and I am guessing the gelato we had each and every day helped.
Watch the related video which I posted last February of some video compilations entitled On the Move.

Capri , Sorrento & Pompeii
Capri (ancient Capreae), island, south central Italy,
at the entrance of the Bay of Naples. Limestone cliffs,
rise from the sea in the east; Monte Solaro, in the west,
the highest point on the island, is 586 m (1,923 ft) above sea level.
The town of Capri, 136 m (450 ft) high.
Sorrento, resort town on the southern shore of the Bay of Naples,
in the Campania region of southern Italy.
Spread out on terraces rising to 60 m (200 ft) above the sea,
lies on the coast road between Naples and Amalfi.
Pompeii is a ruined and partially buried Roman town-city near modern Naples
in the Italian region of Campania, in the territory of the comune of Pompei.
Along with Herculaneum, its sister city, Pompeii was destroyed, and completely buried,
during a long catastrophic eruption of the volcano Mount Vesuvius spanning two days in 79 AD.
The volcano collapsed higher roof-lines and buried Pompeii under 60 feet of ash and pumice,
and it was lost for nearly 1,700 years before its accidental rediscovery in 1748.
Since then, its excavation has provided an extraordinarily detailed insight into the
life of a city at the height of the Roman Empire. Today, this UNESCO World Heritage Site
is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Italy,
The music The Way We Were seems to be the most appropriate as its lilting melody
fitted the picturesque views. Also I took the liberty of extrapolating the the way we were
as Pompeii was preserved so well it brings you back in time to how people lived all those years ago
Tour of the Island of Capri, Campania Region, Italy
Capri is an Italian island in the Tyrrhenian Sea off the Sorrentine Peninsula, on the south side of the Gulf of Naples, in the Campania region of Southern Italy. It has been a resort since the time of the Roman Republic.
Features of the island are the Marina Piccola (the little harbour), the Belvedere of Tragara, which is a high panoramic promenade lined with villas, the limestone crags called sea stacks that project above the sea (the Faraglioni), Anacapri, the Blue Grotto (Grotta Azzurra), and the ruins of the Imperial Roman villas.
Capri is part of the region of Campania, Province of Naples. The town of Capri is the main centre of population on the island. It has two harbours, Marina Piccola and Marina Grande (the main port of the island). The separate comune of Anacapri is located high on the hills to the west.
Capri is a tourist destination for both Italians and foreigners. In the 1950s, Capri became a popular destination. In summer, the island is heavily visited by tourists, especially by day trippers from Naples and Sorrento.
Capri is served by ferry or hydrofoil from Naples, Sorrento, Positano or Amalfi as well as by boat services from the ports of the Bay of Naples and the Sorrentine Peninsula. Naples is served by two ports, Mergellina and Molo Beverello. Molo Beverello has a higher frequency of departures and a larger selection of boats than Mergellina.
From Naples, the ferry takes 80 minutes, and the hydrofoil 40 minutes. From Sorrento, the ferry takes about 40 minutes while the hydrofoil takes about 20 minutes.
Boats call at Marina Grande, from where a funicular goes up to Capri town. From Anacapri town, a chair lift takes passengers to the top of the island.

Rome Italy - The Trip Begins
Our first trip to Italy! We start off at JFK as we're about to board the flight to Rome. We were seated in premium economy on an Alitalia over night flight; it was very comfortable. Once we arrived in Rome, we took private transportation from the airport to our hotel. Later that night, we visited St. Peter's Square. The next morning, we were up early to catch the bus down to Sorrento for an over night excursion that would take us to Capri and the Blue Grotto.

Impression of Sorrento Italy
Sorrento (Neapolitan: Surriento) is a town and comune in Campania, southern Italy, with some 16,500 inhabitants. It is a popular tourist destination which can be reached easily from Naples and Pompeii, as it lies at the south-eastern end of the Circumvesuviana rail line. The town overlooks the Bay of Naples as the key place of the Sorrentine Peninsula, and many viewpoints allow sight of Naples itself, Vesuvius, and the Isle of Capri. The Amalfi Drive (connecting Sorrento and Amalfi) is a narrow road that threads along the high cliffs above the Tyrrhenian Sea. Ferry boats and hydrofoils provide services to Naples, Amalfi, Positano, Capri and Ischia. Sorrento's sea cliffs and luxury hotels have attracted notable people, including Enrico Caruso and Luciano Pavarotti. Sorrento is famous for the production of limoncello, a digestif made from lemon rinds, alcohol, water and sugar. Other agricultural production includes citrus fruit, wine, nuts and olives. Wood craftsmanship is also developed. The Roman name for Sorrento was Surrentum. Legends indicate a close connection between Lipara and Surrentum, as though the latter had been a colony of the former; and even through the Imperial period Surrentum remained largely Greek. The oldest ruins are Oscan, dating from about 600 BC. Before its control by the Roman Republic, Surrentum was one of the towns subject to Nuceria, and shared its fortunes up to the Social War; it seems to have joined in the revolt of 90 BC like Stabiae; and was reduced to obedience in the following year, when it seems to have received a colony. Numerous sepulchral inscriptions of Imperial slaves and freedmen have been found at Surrentum. An inscription shows that Titus in the year after the earthquake of 79 AD restored the horologium (clock) of the town and its architectural decoration. A similar restoration of an unknown building in Naples in the same year is recorded in an inscription from the last-named town.

Naples and Pompeii Day Trip from Rome
Discover history, art and archaeology on this fascinating day trip to Naples and Pompeii from Rome. Your journey takes you from Rome to the Gulf of Naples, where Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 A.D., devastating the towns of Pompeii and Herculaneum.
On your full-day tour from Rome you'll travel along the Highway of the Sun, crossing the area known as Castelli Romani dotted with enchanting medieval villages. During the journey you will pass the ruined Abbey of Monte Cassino, destroyed during the Second World War.
After a photo stop at Naples' impressive Castel dell'Ovo (Egg Castle), you'll continue across Naples' historic center. You'll pass Naples' historic sights, including the Royal Palace, Basilica of San Francesco di Paola, San Carlo Opera House, Gallery of Umberto I and imposing Castel Nuovo.
Leaving Naples, you will cross the valley of Mount Vesuvius, passing through the villages of Ercolano (Herculaneum), Torre del Greco and Torre Annunziata before arriving in Pompeii for lunch.
After lunch, you will take a two-hour walking tour of the ancient city of Pompeii with a local guide. A thrilling archaeological journey unfolds as you walk through the ancient ruins which were buried in ashes after Mount Vesuvius erupted almost 2000 years ago. You'll discover the everyday life of Rome's Imperial age at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, and imagine the panic felt by the people in those last few minutes before the city was so disastrously buried.
On the trip back to Rome (approximately three hours), you'll stop at a coral and cameo factory, where you will have the opportunity to purchase examples of this ancient craft that dates back to the Greek period.
