This Week in Arkansas History, Episode 53: Historic Wine Museum

Episode 53 highlights one of the state's unique museums: The Arkansas Historic Wine Museum in Paris, Arkansas. It is the only museum in the United States that is dedicated to preserving the wine history of an entire state.

Arkansas has a rich heritage of wine making dating from the time of the earliest settlers. In all, there have been 150 wineries bonded in Arkansas by the federal government since the repeal of prohibition and more than 1,000 Arkansas permits issued for wine making. The Arkansas Historic Wine Museum preserves the historic information and artifacts of the commercial and home wine-making tradition in Arkansas. Most of its artifacts are from wineries that are no longer active. They enable you to see the process as it was many years ago and follow this art step-by-step from the grape to the bottle.

47th Annual Winefest Lakeridge Winery Clermont Florida

The annual wine fest is held every February at the Lakeridge Winery located in Clermont, Florida. Depending what area you live in central Florida you are minutes away from the winery. The winery offers year round stock of desert wines and ports. The winery is open year round and the best time to see the grapes in full bloom is from March to July and while harvesting begins in June. They are open 7 days a week. They are easily found online and with a great web site with all their products for sale and upcoming events. The area is growing with many residential homes opening off the main state roads and US Highway 27. History of NC Wine

Trailer promoting the documentary about the history of NC wine. The documentary focuses on the rich past that NC has in the wine industry. NC was the number wine producing state until prohibition. Sidney Weller and Paul Garrett played a big role in state's wine history. The mother vine at over 400 years old is still alive and well. Scuppernong and Muscadine wine were in demand in the late 1600's to the early 1900's. Steve Saxon and Bill Barnes have been shooting and conducting interviews across the state for this documentary.

Friendship Family matches an international student or scholar with individuals and every type of family from the NW Arkansas community. Chateau Aux Arc Proprietor Audrey House asks for your support to sway the Arkansas Legislation concerning the production and shipping of wine. Off Road Fun at the Ranch

Labor Day Weekend Fun. Some friends brought over a couple dirt bikes and a Polaris Ranger to the Ranch. We had a blast tearing it up in the open pasture and on some old un-groomed trails. Got some work to do this winter to clear some trails. We visited the squatters tent for the first time since the big reveal right after we closed on the land and Makayla got stung bad by a red wasp. Not fun.
