When you visit the St. Thomas on the US Virgin Islands, you will LOVE being a part of St. Thomas Food Tours. The Historic Main Street Tour will get you the furthest for your buck as the group stops in various restaurants and historic spots. During the tour our guide, Gerard, told us about the culture and explained the different traditional Caribbean food we were indulging in. We got to try salt fish quiche, tamarind cake, callaloo soup, fungi with creole sauce which is like polenta, conch fritters (of course), beef pattes, and the bushwacker (St. Thomas' signature alcoholic beverage). St. Thomas Food Tours is great for families, couples, and friends who just want to get to know downtown St. Thomas (aka Charlotte Amalie) in a few hours. With the tour lasting about 2.5 hours, you can't make a mistake with St. Thomas Food Tours!

You Must Visit Trunk Bay US Virgin Islands National Park - St. John USVI : Ep.15
In this video I explore The U.S. Virgin Islands on my Princess Cruises Stop in St. Thomas. The original plan was to take a shuttle to Magen's Bay on the north side of St. Thomas but after over hearing a group mention that they heading to St. John to visit a place called Trunk Bay, I changed my plans.
One of the great things about the USVIs is that you have excellent cell coverage since you are in a US territory. It was easy to look up pictures of Trunk Bay before I committed to the trip. For those that plan to venture to St. John from St. Thomas you will want to take a ferry from Redhook to Cruz Bay. Round trip tickets will cost you about $18.00 USD. Upon arriving at Cruz Bay you will find several Safari-style taxi trucks that will get you to your Beach destination of choice. For around $10-$20 you can enjoy an open-air ride along the coast. Be sure to have your camera out as the views are awesome. After about 1.5 hours of travel from the cruise ship we finally arrived at the US Virgin Islands National Park. As we exited the safari truck I could tell this was a good choice. The park has lots of tropical plants and palm trees complete with a snorkel gear rental shop right at the entrance.
Don't be surprised if the first sight of the beach takes your breath away. This place is majestic... A true paradise. I was seriously in awe of the natural beauty and I couldn't wait to get in the water. This may sound lame but the warmth and natural beauty of this beach is almost spiritual. For any corporate 9-5'ers that grind away their lives in a stuffy office building, this place just really sets your soul free.
Once I entered the turquoise water I knew I was in for a great snorkel session. For the more experienced swimmers I highly recommend you swim about 200 yards around the bend to the right and explore the less populated reef by the cliff. There was no other swimmers over on that side, just pristine untouched reef with a huge variety of fish. I was in heaven. At one
point I just rested on the surface of the water looking down at the virgin untouched reef and I had to pinch myself. It was so surreal. The ocean was speaking to me and it was saying, Tyler, you need to leave those cold rocky mountains and come live close to me! LOL! I have not quite been able to make this happen but I'm working on it.
After a return to the beach I made the trek back to the cruise ship and arrived 5 minutes before departure. So glad I made it back. I hope to visit again soon. I really enjoyed my time in the USVIs.
I can not recommend this place enough. It was such a wonderful place to discover.

What We Eat, St. Croix Beaches and Minimalism
⭐Moving to Paradise E-book:
Our weekend was spent hiking, eating and swimming in the beautiful St. Croix beaches. We take you along with us to simple island living and our minimalist lifestyle. 1 month ago, we arrived to our new home with 3 bags, having sold the rest of our worldly possessions and lead a very modest daily life. We like to focus on family, good food and adventures! This past weekend, we celebrated J's 32nd birthday with a hike to Annaly Bay with our new friend to swim in the natural Carambola Tide pools. We also planted our garden. I'm most excited about the moringa {the islands local green superfood}. Full blog post:
Keep sending in your questions for the Q&A at the end of each of our vlogs. Today, we answer questions like what inspired our move to St. Croix? What do we eat daily?

The Forgotten Americans: Why Did U.S. Media Ignore U.S. Virgin Islands Devastated by Irma?
- Hurricane Irma made landfall in the U.S. Virgin Islands as a Category 5 storm just over one week ago, knocking out electricity and running water, and cutting off communications with the outside world. Now, Governor Kenneth Mapp says the islands of Saint John and Saint Thomas are still nearly entirely without power. The hurricane also destroyed schools and the main hospital on Saint Thomas. The devastation was so extensive, it can be seen from space. Earlier this week, a U.S. military amphibious ship arrived on Saint Thomas ladened with equipment and supplies. The islands have also received emergency aid from residents of the nearby island of Puerto Rico, where volunteers banded together to collect supplies and transport them on dozens of ships. But while Hurricane Irma hit the U.S. Virgin Islands days before it made landfall on the Florida Keys, the Virgin Islands have been largely forgotten in the wall-to-wall U.S. media coverage of the storm. And that omission is even more striking given that the U.S. Virgin Islands are in the midst of celebrating their centennial as U.S. territory. We speak with Saint Thomas native Tiphanie Yanique, award-winning poet and novelist. She’s an associate professor in the English Department at Wesleyan University and the author of the poetry collection Wife and the novel Land of Love and Drowning.

Saint Thomas' Magic Point /Nick Lido in US Virgin Islands
Produced and Featured by Nick Lido's Travel Journal. Exploring Saint Virgin Thomas Island. View of magnificent Megan's Bay. Pre-colonial history: The island was originally settled around 1500 BC by the Ciboney people. They were later replaced by the Arawaks and then the Caribs. Christopher Columbus sighted the island in 1493 on his second voyage to the New World. The Caribs barely survived the first decades of contact with Europeans, either due to disease, deportation into slavery or being killed. Featured by
Danish colonial period:
The Dutch West India Company established a post on Saint Thomas in 1657. The first congregation was the St. Thomas Reformed Church, which was established in 1660 and was associated with the Dutch Reformed Church.
The Danish conquered the island in 1666, and by 1672 had established control over the entire island through the Danish West India and Guinea Company.
PAN AM AIRLINES JUMBO JET CARIBBEAN TRAVELOGUE FROM 1970s 72602
Dating from 1972 when the airline was at the top of its market share, this Pan Am travelogue Pan Am's World begins with a flight from New York Kennedy Airport's Worldport to the Caribbean aboard a 747 jumbo jet. At this time the airline flew to Antigua, Jamaica, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Haiti, St. Thomas, Trinidad, the Dominican Republic, St. Croix, Barbados, and Puerto Rico. Scenes from many different nations are seen throughout the film, which also includes a driving soundtrack populated with steel drums and reggae.
Pan American World Airways, known from its founding until 1950 as Pan American Airways and commonly known as Pan Am, was the principal and largest international air carrier in the United States from 1927 until its collapse on December 4, 1991. Founded in 1927 as a scheduled air mail and passenger service operating between Key West, Florida, and Havana, Cuba, the airline became a major company credited with many innovations that shaped the international airline industry, including the widespread use of jet aircraft, jumbo jets, and computerized reservation systems. It was also a founding member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the global airline industry association. Identified by its blue globe logo, the use of the word Clipper in aircraft names and call signs, and the white pilot uniform caps, the airline was a cultural icon of the 20th century. In an era dominated by flag carriers that were wholly or majority government-owned, it was also the unofficial flag carrier of the United States. During most of the jet era, Pan Am's flagship terminal was the Worldport located at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.
The film was directed by Geoffrey Reeve and produced by Film Services Limited of London. Geoffrey Reeve (1932–2010) was a well loved and successful British film director and producer. After graduating at Oxford with a degree in Law, he left for Canada and a job with ICI, making promotional films for the company. He was known for his creative flair and brought the Hollywood 'motion picture' to British shores
