POWERSCOURT GARDEN IRLAND
A walk through Powerscourt Gardens in County Wicklow, Ireland
The Powerscourt House and Gardens are located near Enniskerry in County Wicklow, just down the road from The Ritz-Carlton, Powerscourt. The castle was originally constructed in the 13th century, retooled in the 1700s, burned down (or close to it), and revived in 1996. Today, house is open to visitors year-round, and while it's fun to eat and shop within the house itself, the Gardens behind it are the focal point.
Admission is 6 Euros for adults, while children and seniors can get in for less. The entire garden is open for enjoyment once you're in, and there are a number of walking paths to explore. It's easy to spend an hour or so on each, and if you're looking to see every square inch, you could probably do so in around three hours (buffering in time for photos, of course).

Powerscourt House and Gardens
Even the avenue leading to the Palladian house echoes the magnificence of the whole estate, being a mile long and lined by over 2,000 beech trees. In addition the 47 acres of gardens are remarkable for their grandeur of scale, at the same time combining great delicacy and refinement of detail.
The house was gutted by fire in 1974 but recently has been reborn as an exceptional tourist destination. An exhibition brings to life the rich history of the estate, while the double height Georgian ballroom has been restored and hosts weddings and corporate events. The house is now home to the best of Irish design in gifts, clothes, and furniture in the Avoca Stores and the Interiors Gallery. You can also treat yourself to a dish from the Avoca Cookbook in the Terrace Cafe.
Our aims at Powerscourt are to always present a friendly face, to always respond positively to the needs of our visitors, and to always go the extra mile in terms of quality and service. In this way we can give our visitors an exceptional experience, and Powerscourt will continue to flourish in the 21st century.
