This Prada store is actually an art sculpture created in 2005 by artists Elmgreen and Dragset. It's called Prada Marfa however it's actually located closer the Valentine than Marfa. It showcases real Prada handbags and shoes inside from the 2005 collection. A definite roadside attraction must see when in Texas!

The end of Prada in Marfa? Designer 'store' installation in middle of Texan desert
A Prada storefront in the Chihuahuan desert, 35miles northwest of Marfa, has been classified by the Texas Department of Transportation as 'illegal outdoor advertising'.
Not a retail store, but a permanent installation by Michael Elmgreen and Ingar Dragset, Scandinavian artists based in Berlin, Prada Marfa, despite its isolated location, has drawn thousands of tourists since opening in 2005 - including, last summer, Beyoncé.
In violation of a technicality in the 1965 Highway Beautification Act, the treasured installation, which sits on unlicensed land bordering federal highway U.S. 90, could be forcefully removed; although the department has not yet decided what action it will take

BEST VALENTINE GIFT EVER!!! - Van Life 2018 - Valentine Texas Concert AG002
We first learned about The Valentine's Day Concert in Valentine, Texas from a couple we met in Florida. We added it to our itinerary knowing that it would be 12 hours and over 1,000 miles out of our way. We always seem to just miss events, but were not going to miss this one!!! We hope this helps some people learn about this awesome concert and the awesomeness of the surrounding towns. It is worth the long drive, but make sure to bring your cowboy boots...it's prickley out there!

A few miles outside of Valentine, a tiny Texas ghost town, is a Prada store. Nothing else in sight. It was built by Marfa artists.

Marfa Texas was cool. The Marfa Lights, Prada Marfa and Marfa Burrito were not to be missed, as these were all bucket list items for us. This is a very minimalist town so don't try to find your way around with flashy signs. And Wednesday thru Saturday are the best days to visit. Most businesses are closed Sunday-Tuesday.
Prada Marfa was about 30 min outside of Marfa in a town called Valentine, TX. There's not a lot on the way expect beautiful scenery and photo ops. Sounds like a perfect afternoon!
Not everything in Marfa is expensive. It's ok to pass on the expensive restaurants here and head straight for Marfa Burrito and Pizza Foundation. The food trucks are amazing as well. Of course if you want a fancy dinner, go for it. But, I promise, you will love these cheaper suggestions just as much.
The Marfa Lights... What can we say that hasn't already been said. They're an unexplained phenomenon worth checking out. And really, it's not explainable but very cool. Hard to capture on video since they're so far away but, we'd recommend going out of your way to see them! You can park overnight w/ your rig at the viewing area, also.

Romantic Tradition Could Come to an End
The US Postal Service is potentially closing more than 3,700 offices across the country.
But for one West Texas town, getting stamped out, would mean more than just closing the doors...especially on one day in particular.
It's a town of just over 200 people, but at least one day of the year, Valentine, Texas is known to nearly 39,000 people around the world.
Australia, Africa, New Zealand, remarks postmaster Maria Carrasco, looking through letters she's received.
They're Valentines, sent to the town's post office to receive a special cancellation stamp designed by students in Valentine ISD.
My parents usually sent my brother, sister and I a valentine with a special stamp so I've received one almost my whole life, remembers Bianca Porras.
It's a tradition embraced by romantics across the globe, even newspaper articles from as far away as China describe the charm of a specialized stamp.

Governor Perry has actually named our postmaster, Mrs. Carrasco, the Cupid of Texas, claims Porras.
It's a role, Carrasco has been playing for over 21 years now.
But with the news that the post office could possibly close, some people in Valentine fear that without a zip code their small town doesn't exist.
This is all we have here...we have a school, we have a post office. It would be really sad if our small community lost our Post Office, Porras says.
The USPS will be reviewing all of the offices on the list before making any final decisions.

10. Prada Store
When it comes to fashion, Prada is one of the most popular, and expensive, luxury brands out there. If you were to own a piece of Prada apparel, you're saying that you like high-quality stuff. So imagine people's surprise when a Prada showed up in the middle of a Texas desert.

Allow us to rewind time back to 2003. It was in the Iraqi War, and the United States was determined to free the country from their dictator leader Saddam Hussein. One thing that became quite apparent to the United States was that while the battle on the ground was very tough, the battle in the air wasn't happening as frequently as they surmised.
8. The Witch Of The Desert
When it comes to visibility in a desert area, it's both surprisingly good, and terribly bad. In the daytime, you can see for miles without obstruction, but at night, your visibility is determined by the lights in the sky, and what you brought with you.
7. Secret Swimming Pool
When you're out in the desert, there are many things that you need to survive, but the biggest one is water. While a person can last for quite a while without food, they can only last days without water. So imagine people's surprise when they found out that in the Mojave Desert...there's a swimming pool.

Ancient Egypt had many rituals and beliefs when it came to preserving and honoring their passed. One of the more common ones was to have a transportation vehicle buried with them so that they could be ferried to the afterlife. Chariots, horses, boats, and more have been found in tombs and even common grave sites.

Intent is a very important thing when items are built or made. When people in the Arizona Desert started to notice giant arrows made of stone in the ground, pointing to random directions, they started to wonder what was the intent here.

Google Earth has allowed people to see the planet they live on in new and fascinating ways. But when some people decided to look at the Gobi Desert within China's Xinjiang and Gansu province, they noticed something that they couldn't explain. Mainly, there were massive lines and patterns within the ground of the desert.

Imagine this scenario. You're out in the desert, your car has broke down, your cell phone has no signal, and you are desperate to contact someone. Out in the distance, you see a box-like object, as it comes into focus you see it for what it truly is...a telephone box.
