A Praia da Luz (também conhecida como Luz ou Vila da Luz) localiza-se a 7 km de Lagos. É também o nome da vila turística da Luz. Sendo uma aldeia piscatória, agora tem diversos complexos turísticos para férias.
A praia em si está dividida em duas partes, uma com areia fina e branca, característica da região do Algarve e outra com rochas. A água é limpa e transparente. A praia está qualificada com uma Bandeira Azul. O areal é acompanhado por um passeio com bancos, convidando a uma pausa frente ao mar.
A Igreja da Luz de Lagos, de onde vem o nome da vila, situada perto da praia, foi gravemente danificada no terramoto de 1755, tendo sido reparada com contribuições dos locais.
Praia da Luz (also known as Luz or Vila da Luz) is located 7 km from Lagos. It is also the name of the tourist town of Luz. Being a fishing village, now has several tourist resorts for holidays.
The beach itself is divided into two parts, one with fine white sand, characteristic of the Algarve and the other with rocks. The water is clean and transparent. The beach is qualified with a Blue Flag. The beach is accompanied by a promenade with benches, inviting a break by the sea.
The Church of the Light of Lagos, hence the village name, located near the beach, was badly damaged in the Earthquake of 1755, having been repaired with contributions from locals.

É uma zona de férias que recebe todos os anos turistas de diversas nacionalidades (sobretudo portugueses, espanhóis, ingleses, franceses e alemães). Apesar da cintura de betão que continua a desenvolver-se em seu redor, a vila mantém parte do seu encanto, sobretudo nos dias de Verão, quando a praia é uma das mais concorridas.

A Praia da Luz localiza-se no concelho de Lagos, junto à Vila da Luz.
Desde o paleolítico, estabeleceram-se diversos povos nesta zona, tais como os fenícios, gregos, romanos e árabes.
A praia é composta por duas zonas distintas, uma com areia fina e branca e a outra com rochas. No limite oeste da praia existe uma extensa plataforma rochosa muito esculpida pelo mar. Na extremidade este do areal encontra-se uma arriba esbranquiçada da qual sobressai uma formação rochosa escura, designada por Rocha Negra. Trata-se de um filão vulcânico proveniente da Serra de Monchique, que se estendeu até ao mar.
A Igreja de Nossa Senhora da luz reúne traços arquitectónicos de tipologia tardo-gótica, manuelina e barroca. Relativamente à sua origem existe uma inscrição referindo o ano de 1521.
A Fortaleza de Nossa Senhora da Luz é um dos melhores exemplares da arquitectura militar seiscentista existentes no Algarve. Foi construída no reinado de D. João IV, sobre uma antiga estrutura fortificada. A sua planta é poligonal e tem 4 baluartes angulosos que definem um quadrilátero irregular próximo da forma estrelada. Ocupa uma área de cerca de 200 m2.
As Ruínas Romanas da Luz foram descobertas no séc. XIX, pelo arqueólogo Estácio da Veiga. Foram encontrados tanques de salga de peixe, um aqueduto e um edifício termal. A sua construção remonta aos séculos II ou III.

In this video we visited Lagos and Praia da Luz in the Algarve region of Portugal. We went on an amazing kayaking trip along the coast of Lagos and then drove to the top of ponta da piedade to get a view of the cliffs from above. Later on we went on a little hike along the cliffs to a place called Praia da Luz. Overall our favorite day in the Algarve so highly recommend you visit these places!
