Praia do Buraco - A Marinha Beach Adventure, Lagoa, Carvoeiro, Portugal - Algarve Holidays
The famous arches of Marinha Beach are the highlight, but there's plenty more to do and see on this stretch of Portugal's Algarve coast. Right next to Marinha, located in a secluded cove, is the beautiful, if small, Praia do Buraco.
The size of this beach depends on the tide, and since the tide is in on this day, the beach is quite small - but still exciting. And oh so beautiful.
It's a nice, quick little adventure to get there from Maninha and - as always around here - there may be a cliff to jump from into those beautiful Algarve waters.

ALGARVE: Praia da Marinha, beach (Portugal)
Praia da Marinha is one of the most beautiful beaches of Portugal, located on the Atlantic coast in Caramujeira, Lagoa Municipality, Algarve.
The beach is considered by the Michelin Guide as one of the 10 most beautiful beaches in Europe and as one of the 100 most beautiful beaches in the world.
In 1998, it was also awarded with the distinguished Golden Beach award by the Portuguese Ministry of the Environment because of its outstanding natural qualities.
Many pictures of this beach have often been used in promotional material and Guides of Portugal distributed around the world. Marinha Beach has often been used by international advertising agencies and by television producers in advertising campaigns.
This beach is not only famous for its beautiful cliffs, but also for the high quality of the water.
In 2015, the Marinha Beach was officially classified as one of the best destinations in Europe by the European Best Destinations / EDEN European Destinations of Excellence.

Carvoeiro is a Portuguese coastal town in the Algarve. Carvoeiro is commonly known as Praia de Carvoeiro, although this is no longer its formal name.
Formed from a picturesque fishing village, with a long history of settlement, the parish slowly developed into a tourist town, in the municipality of Lagoa.
Algar Seco, a few hundred meters along the coast east of the main square and beach, is a popular nature site where ocean wave erosion has carved out grottoes, islets and water-spouts.

Praia da Marinha no Algarve - Das mais bonitas de Portugal
A praia da Marinha fica situada no concelho de Lagoa no Algarve em Portugal. A praia tem uma beleza extraordinária especialmente vista de cima, devido às falésias de cor ocre, às formações rochosas dentro de água e ao azul cristalino da água do mar. No entanto, a faixa de areia é muito estreita e encabeçada pelas altas falésias, que para além de constituir um risco, é praticamente impossível estender a toalha durante o Verão.
Já foi considerada das melhores do Mundo pela CNN em 2018 e Guia Michelin (2007), e das mais bonitas de Portugal pela Lonely Planet e Tripadvisor.
A praia da Marinha tem nadador-salvador, restaurante bar e o acesso é feito por escadas de madeira, não sendo aconselhada a pessoas com mobilidade reduzida.

Marinha Beach Trip Portugal - Portugal's Best Beaches!! Lagoa, The Algarve!!!
Marinha beach is definitely one of the best beaches we've visited and it is also rated as one of the best in the world.
Located along an Algarve stretch of some fantastic beaches (Albandeira, Carvalho and Benagil are others nearby), the famous rock-formation arches of Marinha make this one especially breathtaking and can be seen in many advertisements and commercials throughout the world.
The arches are an impressive site that you can approach along the rocky coast during the lower tides, although it's a bit of a choppy and dangerous swim to get there without a boat or swim board.
Some people do swim out there, but it's not recommended.
This beach has it all - excellent sand area, amazing rock formations and cliffs that plunge into the Atlantic Ocean. We rock-hiked beyond the sandy beaches to view the famous double-arches up close - we found a cave or two, enjoyed the waves and then hiked the cliff tops above the beach.
An amazing day. Enjoy the views. Although a fair share of locals visit the beach, it's very touristy and the beach bar prices are not near as reasonable as the prices on the Armacao de Pera beaches (see previous video) - bring a pack lunch.

The Stunning Marinha Beach, Lagoa, Portugal 2018 - Algarve's Best Beach
Marinha beach on the Algarve Coast near Lagoa and Carvoeiro is certainly one of Portugal's most picturesque and beautiful beach experiences. Not far at all from the famous Benagil Beach Cave, Marinha is a splendid sight in itself.
Tucked into the base of a coastal cliff, the sandy beach is broken up into sections and stretches quite a ways down the coastline before giving way to rocky coves which can be hiked to approach the Marinha arches.
In this adventure, we arrive at the beach, find our spot on the sand and quickly hit the water for some rock climbing, cliff exploring, lots of swimming and some chilling in order to take in some amazingly fabulous (yes, I can plug a few adjectives together) views.
It's tough not to consider Marinha one of my favorite beach spots in the Algarve and you'll see why during the video. To top off the adventure, there's nothing like a cold beer, too. And luckily enough there is a beach bar on the way out.

Hi everyone! This is the video footage from our holidays in Carvoeiro, Algarve, Portugal in July 2013.
Carvoeiro is a cluster of whitewashed buildings atop gold-tinged cliffs and backed by gentle hills. Shops, bars and restaurants rise steeply from the small arc of beach that is the focus of the town, with holiday villas sprawling across the hillsides beyond. It's prettier and more laid-back than many of the Algarve's bigger resorts, but its diminutive size means that it gets full to bursting in summer.

Carvoeiro is an Algarve fishing village turned tourist hot spot located five kilometers south of Lagoa. Built into steep red sea cliffs, the once-attractive village has mushroomed since the 1960s to accommodate (mainly in self-catering apartment blocks) the hordes of tourists who come every Summer to soak up the sun and escape the more hectic pace of towns such as Lagoa, Albufeira and Portimao.
Backed by hills, Carvoeiro centres around a picturesque cove with a sandy and sheltered beach, although it does get very busy in high season. Better and quieter beaches can be found close by at Praia do Centianes and Benagil. The village (technically a town since 2001) was formerly known as Praia do Carvoeiro.
The name is thought to derive from 'Caboiere', the old word for an Islamic-Medieval hamlet of fishermen. Carvoeiro has a colourful history of pirates and naval attacks, stretching back to Roman times. The most famous battle took place in 1544 between a fleet of Portuguese ships and the notorious Turkish pirate Xarramet.
To the west of the town is an old ruined fort, which was built in 1670 as part of the Algarve's coastal defences. Very little of the fort survives although the site is also home to the shrine of Nossa Senhora, a chapel overlooking the sea which is said to pre-date the fort.
One kilometer east of the beach are the impressive rock formations of Algar Seco. Steps cut into the dusty cliff lead down to a series of dramatic overhangs above blow holes and grottoes.
