Ozark Air Lines DC-3 engine runups, takeoff, flight & landing (interior), October 1996
This is video of the Prairie Aviation Museum's former operational Ozark Douglas DC-3, N763A, showing the aircraft firing up its two engines, taxing, taking off, cruise flight and landing.
The aircraft began as a Douglas C-53 (military equivalent of a DC-3A) that was completed at Douglas Santa Monica on March 11, 1942. A week later it was transferred from the USAAF to the Navy as an R4D-3 with squadron VR-1. Later during the World War II, it was operated by American Airlines on behalf of the Navy.
After the war, Continental Air Lines purchased this DC-3 government surplus in March 1947 and registered it as NC73726. Southern Airways then bought the airliner on August 31, 1949 with the registration now N73726 (later re-numbered as N70SA in 1954) and used it until 1966. The DC-3 went through a number of owners from 1967 and saw little activity until it was bought by the Prairie Aviation Museum in 1984 (by this time registered to as N763A) and restored to flying status.
The video you're watching was recorded on October 20, 1996. That day the Prairie Aviation Museum was providing flights aboard its' DC-3 not only to museum members, but to the public as well. You got an approximately 30 minute, low altitude trip out of the Bloomington-Normal, IL airport flying up north 20 miles over beautiful downtown El Paso (Illinois) and then return (note the views of Illinois State University upon the return flight over Normal, IL) to the airport. I seem to recall the cost for an adult ticket being around $85.00. Not too bad a price for a flight aboard a then 54 year old vintage airliner even back in 1996. And yes, that indeed was a nice landing. The pilot really greased it in!

Illinois Adventure #1306 McLean County Museum of History
The McLean County Museum of History traces it roots back to 1892, the year the McLean County Historical Society was founded. The original Museum opened in 1904 when Historical Society members had collected enough material, in the form of presented papers, transcribed reminiscences, and donated objects, to share the collection with the public.
Illinois Adventure #1301 Weldon Springs State Park
Lying just southeast of Clinton in DeWitt County, Weldon Springs State Park is a 550-acre park for all seasons. Weldon Springs' recreational agenda is among the most comprehensive in the state park system, offering recreational opportunities year-round. During the milder seasons, you are invited to fish, boat, picnic, camp, hike, and view wildlife. Or, you might want to pitch horseshoes at the park's tournament-quality horseshoe pits. When the snow flies, hardier outdoors persons not only continue many of the warmer weather pursuits, but add sledding and tobogganing on a one-eighth mile hill, ice fishing and cross-country skiing to the itinerary of their visit.
At Issue In Brief #130601 Changing Illinois
In this At Issue in Brief, host H Wayne Wilson talks with Brad McMillan, who is the executive director of the Bradley Institute for Principled Leadership in the Public Interest, about changing the way Illinois draws its electoral districts. The organization Change Illinois is leading a petition effort to place a referendum on the November, 2014 ballot, that would create an independent commission to draw the redistricting maps instead of the Illinois Legislature.
