One of the most offbeat places in Himachal Pradesh, Prashar Lake is a crystal clear water body situated about 52 km north of Mandi Bus Stand, with a three-storied pagoda-like temple dedicated to the sage Prashar. The lake is located at the height of 2730 m above sea level with deep blue waters and holds a saintly position there. Bounded by mighty Dhauladhar ranges in Kullu Valley, the place is full of mystic charm. It is surrounded by snow-topped peaks and looks down on the fast flowing river Beas. The temple was built in the thirteenth century, and its construction comes under the light of a vague myth. The lake has a floating island in it, and its actual depth is unclear. Its lush green valleys, interspersed with rivers and lakes offer one of the most scenic and enjoyable trekking experiences.

Prashar Lake lies 50 km north of Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India, with a three storied pagoda-like temple dedicated to the sage Prashar. The lake is located at a height of 2550 m above sea level.

प्रसार झील, मंडी से 50किमी. दूरी पर स्थित प्रसार गांव में है जो समुद्री स्‍तर से 2550 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर बहती है। इस झील के पास में ही तीन मंदिर भी है जो झील के किनारे पर ही बसे है। यह मंदिर संत प्रसार को समर्पित है जो यहां बैठकर ध्‍यान लगाया करते थे।

ऊंचे-ऊंचे पहाड़ो से घिरी यह झील नीले रंग के पानी की है। इस झील की गहराई के बारे में कोई भी जानकारी नहीं है।

पर्यटकों को समय निकालकर इस छोटे से द्वीप पर अवश्‍य आना चाहिए। यह जगह मनोरंजन और मस्‍ती के साथ धार्मिक स्‍थल भी है। नदी व्‍यास का निर्मल जल आपके मन को शांत कर देगा।

Prashar Lake is dedicated to Maharishi, Sage parashar , the father of Ved-Vyasa and the grand-son of Maharishi Vashishtha  Sage Vasishth was the Religious and spiritual counselor of Lord Rama while Ved-Vyasa was the Raj Purohit of Kuru dynasty कुरु वंश;कौरव और पांडव, stated in Mahabharata . SagePrashar Rishi is supposed to be the narrator of first Purana, the Vishnu Purana of Hindu mythology.

People do not know much about this lake, so this place is quite peaceful and far away from the pleasures of the people. It is located at an altitude of 2730 meters above sea level. The amazing beauty and peace here make this place as a small paradise.
The specialty of this lake begins here, with its geography. You will not find a tree around Parashar lake. Parashar is a wonderful temple of Lord Rishi in the 14th century pagodas style, surrounded by a green green grass field around the lake and nearby. These green green grasslands near the lake fall yellow in the month of December. The biggest secret of the lake is to sit in it 'walk'. Yes, it is a small island of the lake, which keeps on walking throughout the year. If you ever go here, sometimes you will see this in the corner of the lake, sometimes that is why it is called stroll.
It is said about the temple established near Parasar lake that Parasar Rishi had done penance in this temple. This was made by King Bansen of the Mandir Principal. Interestingly, years ago, this lake used to have a very big tree, which was constructed without cutting it without cutting it, without any lifting. This temple was built in 12 years, the magnificence of this Timangli temple You have examples in. Art-culture lovers visit the temple temple frequently and again. With respect to those donations, folding hands in front of the statue, pray with devotion to the revered eyes. When the prayers are closed, the grains of those rice are counted. If they are in an odd number like the rash of three five and seven, then the devotion of devotees will be fulfilled, if not even in number.
It is believed that, when the desire is completed, the goat or goat's sacrifice is given outside the temple courtyard. According to the stories, it is said that if the rain had not been done in this area, then Parashar Rishi would call him Ganesh Ji. Ganesha ji is located at a place called Bhatwadi, which is a few kilometers away from here. This was done in Vandana Raja times too and today it is still happening hundreds of years later. There are fish in the lake which is a charm in itself. Every year near the Parasher lake there are huge festivals of Ashrand's Sankranti and the Panchami of the Lord of Bhadrapad. Fair Parashar, which takes place in Bhadrapad, is celebrated as the birth anniversary of the sage.
The natural beauty of the lake is still intact. You will reach the rebel from the Mandi with a Catla. From here, Parashar lake can be reached by trekking at just 8 kilometers. There is also a road route from the rebel to which even the distance is 18 kilometers. On this road you will get the bus facility, which will reach you approximately 1 kilometer before this lake. In front of it you can walk comfortably to the lake.

Prashar Lake Mandi, Himachal Pradesh

Prashar lake is situated at a distance of 49km from Mandi in Prashar village. Mandi to Baagi then 8km trekking to Prashar lake, or you can go by car upto 1km below Prashar lake.

Prashar lake is dedicated to Maharishi Prashar, Father of Ved Vyas and Grand Son of Maharishi Vashisht.

It looks like a pond when seen from a distance. There is no tree near lake but the lake is surrounded by high mountains looks like providing shield to Prashar lake.
It is a beautiful small lake away from hustle bustle and population. here is a floating island in lake which is called as Tehla as it continues to revolve around lake all the time.

there is a three storey temple near the lake dedicated to Maharishi Prashar. It is said that he meditated here. This temple was constructed by King of mandi, Raja Bansen.

Interesting thing about this temple is that it was construted from a big tree which was there near the temple a long time ago. It tooks 12 years to build this Prashar temple.

PRASHAR LAKE : A bike trip from Delhi to prashar lake, Mandi Himachal Pradesh

SUBSCRIBE NOW - (Free). Parashar Lake is situated around 74 KMs from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. The Lake is located at a height of 2730m above the sea level, the view makes you refreshing and meditative if you are a mountain trekker or love to spend time with nature so this place is for you.

You can reach Parashar lake by Bus from Delhi, you will have to reach Mandi, Himachal Pradesh then you need to hire a private vehicle to reach the camp area.

I went there by my bike Suzuki Gixxer SF, a bike trip to Parashar lake is a good idea, even I went solo and I enjoyed my ride, but you can expect off-roading for a while in between.

Prashar lake is an oval shaped-lake in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh.It is believed that the local temple of Prashar Rishi is made of one Deodar tree. The local temple of Prashar Rishi next to the lake, with its riveting Himachali architecture, blends perfectly with the landscape.The area has been surrounded by the dense forest and is awesome place to relax and connect with nature.Near the lake there is a forest rest house is available to stay. PRASHAR LAKE Trek & Floating island in winter (H. P.) in HD -A MUST TREKKING PLACE IN WINTER

The beautiful Prashar Lake lies 50 km north-east of Mandi and 64Km south of Kullu in Himanchal Pradesh (INDIA). The lake is situated at an avg. height of 2730m (8,960 ft) in the lap of mountains.
The lake has been named after the sage Prashar (father of Vedavyas) who has mediated here and is a pristine spiritual place.
The deep blue lake lies in a saucer shaped valley and is surrounded by snow-capped peaks.

Alongside the lake there is an old three storied pagoda shaped temple dedicated to the sage Prashar. The temple and a small ground alongside the lake offers great scenic natural beauty and provides the feel of heaven. This temple was built by Raja Ban Sen of Mandi in the 14th century and is capped with a roof of slate tiles and has a wealth of wood carvings.

This is 1st Drone-Video of Parashar Lake located near Mandi in Himachal Pradesh, India.
Note: We had gone there in December 2016. So, greenery was lost from this area. In morning, ice-formations over the lake can be seen in video too starting at - 9:00
After this season this place gets snowfall. In summers greenery return as viewable on Wikipedia, Google and other sites.
