25 Things to do in Osaka | Japan Travel Guide ????????
In this Japan travel guide, we are sharing 25 things to do in Osaka!
Affectionately known as Japan’s Kitchen, Osaka was the first stop of our trip to Japan and a wonderful place to eat! We dove straight into the local cuisine visiting markets, street food stalls, and restaurants that required ordering from ticket vending machines.

So if you’re curious about what there is to see and do in this city, stick around and let us show you 25 things to do in Osaka, Japan!

Transportation in Osaka, Japan:
Now a quick note on transportation in Osaka (大阪市). When it comes to getting around the city, subways and trains are your best bet.
We spent our first few days buying one-way tickets and day passes, which in retrospect was a bit of a headache. The easiest thing to do is to get a prepaid card where you can load money as needed.
Osaka’s version of this card is called Icoca, but you can also use Pasmo and Suica in the city.
And that’s a wrap for our Osaka travel guide. We hope you found this video helpful and that it gave you some ideas of things to do in Osaka on your own trip.
If you have any other suggestion of things to do in Osaka that you think we missed on this visit, feel free to share your suggestions with fellow travellers in the comments below.

Zimbabwe's Codeine Cough Syrup Epidemic
Zimbabwe is at risk of losing its youth to codeine cough syrup, as the addiction epidemic has already engulfed what the experts estimate could be over half the country’s young people. Despite the growing problem, Zimbabwe’s government has not yet opened rehabilitation clinics, meaning addicts are often sent to prison or psychiatric wards.
The cough syrup, often of the brand BronCleer, is imported illegally from South Africa, and is sold on every street corner, in bars, school yards and on busses for as little as $3 a bottle.
We meet current and former users, as well as the NGOs pushing the government to open up rehabs, to find out why cough syrup has become the drug of choice for so many young Zimbabweans.

Tokyo Capsule Hotel Experience ★ ONLY in JAPAN
A real life capsule to sleep in. Cool!
This is one of the most ONLY in JAPAN experiences possible — staying in a capsule hotel in a Japanese city. It’s cheap and convenient but why do people actually stay here? Is it ... you know ... big enough?
In this episode, John Daub and Masahito Kawahata head to the Shinjuku Kuyakusho-mae Capsule Hotel in Kabukicho to find out.
Japan’s Capsule Hotels are more than cheap places to crash.
This type of hotel is distinctively Japanese in style, cramming in as much as possible into a tiny space to make a comfortable experience, but can a guest really be comfortable in one?
More and more foreign tourists to Japan want to give it a try! How small are these capsule? How much is a night? What are the rules?
Is it worth it?
Miss your last train?
Work too late?
Argument with your husband or wife and need a place to crash? Those might be the normal reasons why Japanese salarymen spend the night at a capsule hotel.
For foreign tourists it’s a chance to experience a unique style of hotel that seems more like spending a night at the morgue.
Before you pass judgement on capsule hotels, some things about them may surprise you!
What can you find at the capsule hotel?
Here’s a list:
Capsules
Lockers
Restaurant (Open 18:00~24:00)
Community Room
Vending machines
Laundry machines
Fast and free WIFI
English speaking staff
Women’s only floor
Japanese-style bath and sauna

TOKYO CAPSULE HOTEL TOUR IN JAPAN | Male vs Female Experience
Today we're giving you a Tokyo Capsule Hotel Tour! For our last night in Tokyo, we booked 2 pods in a super futuristic capsule hotel in the heart of Koreatown. This capsule hotel is called 9 Hours and it is part of a chain of capsule hotels found across Japan, so if you like the look of it, you can experience it across the country!
Capsule hotels in Japan used to be male only, and today there are some that are female-only, however, we stayed at one that welcomes both men and women. The only thing to note about staying in a capsule hotel is that there are separate floors for men and women, so if you're a couple, you'll be split on different levels.

TOKYO CAPSULE HOTEL TOUR IN JAPAN | Male vs Female Experience Travel Food Video Transcript:
One of our bucket list items in Japan was to spend a night in a capsule hotel. So before leaving Tokyo we booked a night at 9 hours. A futuristic capsule hotel that pretty much looks like a spaceship. This pod hotel is located by Shin-Okubo station right in the heart of Korea Town and in this video we're going to share the whole experience with you guys.
We are just waiting for the elevator now. The reception is surprisingly on the 8th floor not the first.
The check-in process was simple and straight forward. We were each given a card with a qr code which would act as our key for the duration of our stay.
We checked out the views of our neighborhood and also learned that the capsules for men and women are on separate floors.
This is the part where Sam and I have to go our separate ways. Different floors for men and women. So I'm on the 6th floor and I'm on the 4th.
We'll each take our own camera and show you are own experience. Indeed. And we'll meet back here in a bit.
I went up to the 6th floor to find my locker and store my belongings. All of the lockers have an overnight kit to make each guest stay at the capsule hotel a little more comfortable. A look inside the bag coming up soon.
I also discovered that my suitcase was a little too plump for my locker so some pushing and prodding ensued.
And inside I had this little bag already waiting for me. It looks like we have a towel, some slippers and PJs. It looks like we have slippers with the 9 hours logo. We have a towel.
We've got some pajamas to put on. This is going to be fun.
Oh okay toothpaste. Toothbrush. That is our kit for spending the night at a capsule hotel. Let's actually go check out my capsule. Before going into the dorm with all of the capsules we have to take off our shoes and put on slippers.
The Spaceship.
Even though it was the middle of the afternoon I was ready to explore my pod. First up a little stretch test to see just how much space there is in one of these capsules.
Stretch Test.
Not bad. I definitely didn't feel claustrophobic in there so that is a good start.
It is time for final thoughts on our first and only capsule hotel experience. Yeah.
What did you think? How was your night?
We were sleeping in different areas. I had a great sleep. I went to be about 11 pm woke up at five and I slept continuously.
Overall I would recommend staying in a capsule hotel but I think just for one night. Yes. I don't think you'd want to be in there for multiple nights.
I would agree. I would want to experience it once here in Japan but I don't need to sleep in a capsule for a week or a month. Book a hotel or an apartment or something else.
So yeah that is it for now we'll see you guys in the next video. Bye.
This is part of our Travel in Japan video series showcasing Japanese food, Japanese culture and Japanese experiences.

Trying Shabu Shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) | Japanese Hot Pot in Tokyo, Japan
Come join us in for lunch trying Shabu Shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) also known as Japanese Hot Pot in Tokyo, Japan. Shabu-shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) is a dish we first tried together while teaching in South Korea. We loved it and wanted to try eating it for the first time in Japan. For those who have never shabu shabu before it is a hotpot dish (Japanese nabemono) consisting of thinly sliced meat (beef or pork) with vegetables boiled in a watery broth. Shabu shabu literally means swish swish and makes for great do it yourself social meal as it is cooked in various stages at your table.
In order to prepare shabu-shabu you dip the thin slices of meat or vegetables in boiling hot dashi (broth) made with kelp (konbu) before dunking it in sauces such as ponzu or goma (sesame seed). Often shabu-shabu is served with either rice and/or noodles.

Trying Shabu Shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) | Japanese Hot Pot in Tokyo, Japan Travel Food Video Transcript:
it is time for another food video here in Tokyo. And today we are having Shabu-Shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ). That is Japanese hot pot and this is a dish we've had so many times when we were living in Korea. This is our first time trying it in Japan so it is going to be pretty cool.
We've already got the pot here at the table and we've ordered pork and beef so we're going to be cooking two different types of meat.
Also lots of veggies so this should be really tasty. It has been a long time since I had shabu-shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ).
Okay so the meat has arrived at the table. I'm guessing the lighter one is pork yes and this other one is beef. And underneath we have a whole bunch of veggies like cabbage and I don't know leafy greens, some tofu. Yep.
So we're just going to be adding all of it in and letting it cook because the water is already bubbling.
So I'm just going to use my hands here. And start adding stuff in. Get them veggies in the pot. Some tofu. Woah!
I remember in Korea they would give us scissors to like chop up all of the veggies but here it is already been pre-chopped so I'm just getting it all in there. It kind of makes it nice.
So yeah guys you cook the veggies well first yeah before you put in the meat. That is the key to shabu shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ).
I would have to say like even though this was really good I prefer Korean shabu-shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) just because I feel like that has different courses. Yeah.
And like I'm getting more food and more of a culinary experience at the table. Yeah, that is a good point. Mmmhmm.
Um but anyways let's talk about the price. The total for this was 2,100 Yen which is $19 US dollars and also this was a lunch special so it is a lot cheaper to eat Shabu-Shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) for lunch than it is for dinner.
Also when we were trying to find a shabu shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) restaurant we noticed that most of the restaurants only opened for dinner. From 5pm onwards so you'll want to do some research before you head out and make sure you're going to a restaurant that serves shabu-shabu (しゃぶしゃぶ) for lunch. Otherwise it might be disappointing. But yeah we're leaving here stuffed. That was a very good meal. We hope you guys enjoyed the video and we'll see you next time. Bye! Tata.

INTER ACADEMY JAPAN ON THE SAN SIRO TURF! | Inter vs Lazio ????????⚫????
An internship has been completed in Milan by players and coaches from Inter Academy Japan, a project that came into being in 2013 and which 250 young players are involved in, whether as part of the soccer schools or the six Elite Teams that have been established. 25 young players led by coach Dai and professional Inter Academy coaches had the opportunity to enjoy unique experiences: first, they got to watch the Nerazzurri warm up pitchside prior to Inter vs. Lazio, while at half-time players from the Under-15s Elite Team took part in a 7-a-side practice match on the San Siro turf. Trying Ramen Noodles in Osaka, Japan ????
Come join us for another Japanese food review video in Osaka, Japan where this time we are trying Ramen noodles in Osaka, Japan in a famous neighbourhood called Dōtonbori. For those who have never tried Japanese Ramen, they are wheat noodles served in a meat and/or fish broth flavored with both soy sauce and miso with typical toppings added including dried seaweed, green onions, sliced pork and gyoza dumplings. Each prefecture in Japan has its own variation and so if you're traveling around Japan you can try a different style of ramen wherever you go. For this particular food video we were still fighting jeg lag so we ended up having ramen for breakfast. It is the type of meal you can eat anytime of day as many shops are 24 hours in busy parts of Osaka. If you'd like to try ramen at the same shop we visited the address is listed below:
Kamukura Dotombori
Ramen Restaurant
Address: 1 Chome-7-25 Dotonbori, Chuo Ward, Osaka, Osaka Prefecture 542-0071, Japan

Trying Ramen Noodles in Osaka, Japan ???? Travel Food Video Transcript:
Well good morning guys. Good morning. Second full day here in Osaka (大阪). We are still super jet lagged. We woke up at 1 am in the morning. It is now quarter to 5 am. I know it feels like it is later on in the day. It is hilarious that it is only five in the morning. In fact the metro is just opening up now. We are heading out. We found a ramen shop that is open 24 hours a day. And we figured this is perfect. We are jet lagged, we need food, let's go eat some ramen noodles (ラーメン).
We have made it to Dōtonbori (道頓堀) and the place we wanted to go to is packed. It is super tiny and it is kind of like a bar style restaurant where you just sit. You sit at the bar and you slurp on your noodles but there is no space so we walked around found another place where we actually have to order from a machine. Yes. Interesting. And that should be fun. That is what we're going to do. We're just reading the menu that is outside and then we'll place our order.
I'm getting number 6 the Ramen with soft-boiled seasoned egg and Sam is going for number 11 the meat filled wonton dumplings Ramen (ラーメン). We have our receipts.
Sam is going to give us a quick history of Ramen. Yes.
Courtesy of wikipedia. Ramen is a Japanese dish it consists of Chinese style wheat noodles served in a meat or occasionally fish based broth. Often flavoured with soy sauce or miso. And uses toppings such as sliced pork, dried seaweed and green onions. Nearly every region in Japan has its own variation of ramen from the tonkatsu pork one to bone broth ramen of Kyushu to the miso ramen of Hokkaido. Alright and so ramen (ラーメン) is the specialty of Japan and we can't wait to try ours.
That was a great meal. The price of the meal um in terms of the ramen was 1740 Yen which is just under 16 US dollars. Basically 8 per person. I thought that was excellent value. Like the sizes were huge. Like this is one of the biggest breakfasts I've had in a very very long time. The ingredients were fresh and it was just a cool eating environment. There were a lot of other people in there slurping surprisingly this early in the morning. If you are in Osaka (大阪) or really anywhere in Japan to be honest definitely make sure to have a few bowls of ramen (ラーメン). Ramen. Ciao for now.
This is part of our Travel in Japan video series showcasing Japanese food, Japanese culture and Japanese cuisine.
