Preah Khan of Kompong Svay
Traditionally, Preah Khan of Kompong Svay district has been the toughest of the remote Angkorian temples to reach. Even now getting there at the peak of the wet season is almost impossible, and the best time to visit is between January and April when the trails are dry. It's located some 93km north of Kompong Thom and 64km south of Tbeng Meanchey in Preah Vihear Province.
Most locals call the temple complex Prasat Bakan but it's common name is Preah Khan of Kompong Svay. Covering almost 5 sq km, it's actually the largest temple enclosure constructed during the main Angkor period, dating from the 9th to 13th centuries. The central tower at Prasat Preah Stung is adorned with large enigmatic faces and the central area of Preah Khan is overgrown by forest and has been badly damaged with many towers collapsing. Some of this was caused by severe looting at the site. If you are looking for a remote temple complex, then it doesn't get much more remote than Preah Khan.

Temple exploring in Cambodia without the crowds
Those who make the journey almost 100km from Preah Vihear province's capital Tbaeng Meanchey to the 11th century remains of Preah Khan Kompong Svay will be richly rewarded. The archaeological site, also known as Prasat Bakan, has around five square kilometres of lush green grounds to explore, and buildings with all the atmosphere of some of Angkor's — minus the throngs of tourists.

Trip to Sangkum Thmei district in Preah Vihear province
It's a long trip from Phnom Penh city to Sangkum Thmei district in Preah Vihear province. Our goal is to see Preah Khan temple as people said that this temple is at Ta Seng. It's Prasat Preah Khan Kampong Svay in Preah Vihear province. The trip started from Phnom Penh crossing the river along national highway 6A to Kampong Cham province (we had breakfast), Kampong Thom province (shortcut road to Ta Seng, Prasat Preah Khan Kampong Svay). We need to travel on a small path with lots of potholes, mud and spent the whole day to get to Ta Seng, Kampong Svay. We asked lots of people along the road to find this location as it's our first time to go there. We got to Ta Seng, Kampong Svay at around 5:45pm, we can't visit the temple as it's dark and everyone is hungry. We need to find a homestay, but there's no electricity, we can't sleep, so we decided to travel further to Sangkum Thmei district as people said there is a guest house there. We need another hours to travel from Ta Seng Kampong Svay to Sangkum Thmei district. We finally found a guest house, the only one at this district called Thy Nan guest house. It's only a fan with broken door room for my family. We had dinner and sleep. The next morning, we got up and took pictures in front of Sangkum Thmei district office and head off to the main paved road.

Preah Khan Kampong Svay or Brasat Bakan is was Bakan Svay Rolay is location in Preah Vihea province.
This Temple distance 100 Kilometers east of Siem Reap Capital Province.
Brasat Bakan or Preah Khan size 5 Kilometers square one of less visited Angkorian sites.
The Temple was a royal residence during the kingdom of Suryavaman II and Jayavarman VII but the temple was build by King Suryavarman I in 11 Century.
The sculptures and carving of Preah Khan Kompong Svay are among the peaks of Khmer art and also temple has been widely sacked in the past by official expedition.
Brasat Bakan or Preah Khan Kampong Svay is oriented to north-east and has four concentric enclosures.
It was provided with water by a large baray with 2.8 Kilometers by 750 Meters but now aday almost completely dried.
