Nanjing, China Highlights: City Wall, Presidential Palace, Fuzimiao Markets, Sun Yat Sen Mausoleum
While not as well known as Beijing, Nanjing is the former capital of China (during the Ming and Qing dynasties) and is just as superb for cultural attractions. It has its own extraordinary city wall, palaces, temple markets, and mausoleums. And the locals are much friendlier IMHO :) Located just a few hours west of Shanghai, this is a must see for anyone's southern China itinerary.

南京第一天 | Nanjing Day 1 - Zhongshan Monument, Presidential Palace, Confucius Temple
Yoooooooooo
So we finally arrived in Nanjing! Nanjing had been the capital of ancient china for four dynasties, so it is a city full of history and culture! I absolutely loved Nanjing.
Today we went to several famous tourists spots including the
1. Zhongshan Monument / Dr. Sun Yat sen's Grave
2. MeiLingGong / Song Meiling's Villa (Dr.Sun Yat sen's wife)
3. MingXiaoLing / Ming dynasty tomb
the above were all located inside the Zhongshan Park
4. Presidential Palace
- where Dr.Sun Yat sen and his team used to hold office and work
5. Confucius Temple
- where the old national testing system for thousands of years take place. It's also a museum now where you can learn about the history and miscellaneous things regarding this Test
6. Qinhuai River
Nanjing's famous river, which runs along the Confucius Temple and through Nanjing. It's a shopping and food centered tourist attraction. You can walk along the river, enjoy some street food, and take pictures with the beautiful view (if there isn't that many people which is impossible) haha
hope you like Nanjing day 1. Tomorrow we will go to some even better places in Nanjing ;)

Nanjing city wall | Nanjing | China(南京瓮城)
Nanjing city wall is a highlighted part of Nanjing attractions and a tentative site of UNESCO world cultural heritage. The existed city wall was built in Ming Dynasty, so it is famously named Ming City Wall. The whole duration of construction is 21 years. And the construction does not follow the traditional layout design for the capital but built in a unique and innovative way. It maximally extends for over 60 kilometers. The Ming city wall of Nanjing is not only the largest city wall in China but also the No.1 in the world. Anciently, it played a role as an ancient military defense installation, and its greatness shows both in its functionality for defense and the construction technology for city wall. Someone takes it as another historic miracle next to Qin Dynasty’s Great Wall.

Beautiful Nanjing. China.
Nanjing (About this sound listen), formerly romanized as Nanking and Nankin,[3] is the city situated in the heartland of lower Yangtze River region in China, which has long been a major center of culture, education, research, politics, economy, transport networks and tourism. It is the capital city of Jiangsu province of the People's Republic of China and the second largest city in the east China region,[4] with acreage about 6600 square kilometers and a total population of 8,230,000.[5] Nanjing remains the de jure official legal capital of the Republic of China, which lost control of the mainland during the civil war in 1949. Meanwhile, Taipei serves as the provisional capital of the central government of the ROC, and controls the island of Taiwan.[6] The inner area of Nanjing enclosed by the city wall is Nanjing City (南京城), with acreage of 55 km2, while Nanjing Metropolitan Region includes surrounding cities and areas, with acreage over 60 thousand km2 and population over 30 million.Nanjing, one of the nation's most important cities for over a thousand years, is recognized as one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China, and had been the world's largest city aggregately for hundreds of years, enjoying peace and prosperity while with painful days of suffering wars and disasters.
