Trainspotting at Preston Station | 19/12/2019

2160p 4K HD!
Hello everyone, MT here with the usual trainspotting action. Since Avanti West Coast took over the West Coast Mainline franchise from 8th Dec, they got straight of adding their new livery to their pendolino fleet. Therefore, I thought of popping out to any of the station along the WCML to try and capture some. Here at Preston railway station, only one of the pendolinos that appeared within my hours’ time there was in the new livery but it was enough when seeing all the other traffic there including the Northern Belle. Hope you all enjoy this!
Trains include: Avanti West Coast Voyagers & Pendolinos including 390156 in new livery, Transpennine Express 350’s, Northern 156, 158’s, 195’s, 319’s & 331’s, DB Cargo 90’s and West Coast Railways 57’s hauling the Northern Belle

Multiple UFO Formation Sighted Over Preston, UK ( February 11 2018 )
UNEDITED WITNESS STATEMENT : Outside Preston train station and saw these lights in the sky.
1. I did see more than this before I recorded this video but my phone battery was low. There was also alot of witnesses that saw these lights. I was thinking Chinese lanterns at first but they are banned in this country now plus they don't fly in formation like that and the weather was bad that day. There was no sound coming from these lights and it was 6.25pm, Preston United Kingdom .

Hello everyone, MT here with the usual trainspotting action. Around ninety minutes trainspotting at Preston railway station on the west coast mainline. I was hoping at capturing one of the brand new TPE nova 3 sets on test before they go into service later in the year, but nothing came. However, Northern were doing similar testing with its brand new 195 & 331 units so I managed to capture one of each while I was there. Other unusual things also happened during the trip such as platform 3 was closed with reasons unknown especially with Network Rail’s orange team on duty. Apart from that, there was the usual passenger and freight services passing through.
Trains include: Virgin Trains 390 Pendolino’s & 221 Voyagers, Transpennine Express 350’s, DB Cargo (EWS) 66199 and Northern 142’s, 150, 156’s, 158’s & 319’s along with 195103 and an 331 on test runs

A busy visit to Preston on the West Coast Mainline on Saturday 18th May 2019.
Preston info:
Preston railway station in Preston, Lancashire, England, is a major station on the West Coast Main Line, roughly half-way between London Euston and Glasgow Central (206 miles from London Euston, 194 miles from Glasgow Central). It is served by Northern, Virgin Trains, and TransPennine Express services, plus Caledonian Sleeper overnight services between London and Scotland.
The North Union Railway opened a station on the site in 1838. It was extended in 1850, with new platforms under the separate management of the East Lancashire Railway, and by 1863 London–Scotland trains stopped here to allow passengers to eat in the station dining room. The current station was built in 1880 and extended in 1903 and 1913, when it had fifteen platforms. A free buffet for servicemen was provided during both World Wars. The East Lancashire platforms were demolished in the 1970s as connecting lines closed. Only six platforms remain in regular use today.
As well as intercity trains to London Euston, Birmingham New Street, Manchester Piccadilly, Glasgow Central and Edinburgh Waverley, the station is served by local trains to other parts of Lancashire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Yorkshire.
Station layout and amenities:
The main entrance to the station is at the bottom of the station approach, a ramp off the bridge that carries Fishergate over the railway. The ticket office is located within the small concourse. This concourse gives direct access, down the ramp, to the intercity platforms 3 and 4. There are footbridges on either side of this ramp to all other platforms. The eastern footbridge ends at an alternative entrance to the station on Butler Street, giving closer access to Preston city centre and the station car park. There is also a subway which provides step-free access to all eight platforms in use at the station and another entrance serving the station car park at the south end of platform 7.
The island forming platforms 3 and 4 is a very wide island platform with a long series of buildings. Inside these buildings are services and amenities including a newsagent and several food outlets including a licensed restaurant. There are also toilets and a large waiting room. A small travel centre on platform 3, near the ramp, is operated by Virgin Trains staff to give information for passengers on the platform. In addition to these main amenities, there is a small coffee shop outlet on platform 4, as well as an additional shop on platforms 1 and 2.
Passenger information systems were updated during 2007 and now use dot matrix display screens. Preston retained a manual tannoy system until 30 January 2017, a rarity amongst the larger stations in the UK.[citation needed] A new automated announcement system was introduced. In 2009 the station was identified as one of the ten worst category B interchange stations for mystery shopper assessment of fabric and environment, and was set to receive a share of £50m funding for improvements prior to a public spending review initiated in 2010.
Services:
There are currently six through and two bay platforms in use at Preston, with two more available for emergency use. All lines are electrified, allowing any train to use any platform.

The aim is to have Preston one of the terminals of the Northern Line. The document states, The potential use of battery powered Merseyrail units may improve the business case.
