Motonosumi Inari Shrine, Yamaguchi, Japan
Motonosumi-inari Shrine (Yamaguchi) – The 123 Torii gates stretches from the Motonosumi-Inari Shrine to the cliff overlooking the ocean.
A popular shrine where locals wish for success.
The final Torii's donation box is placed out of reach at the top of the gate. It's believed that if you can successfully toss money into the box, all your wishes will come true.
Welcome to Yamaguchi!
Here is an abridged introduction of the various tourist spots within Yamaguchi Prefecture.
Fukutoku Inari Shrine [1000 tori gates], Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi, Feb 2016 (福徳稲荷神社 [千本鳥居]、下関、2016年2月)
Took my GoPro through Yamaguchi prefecture's Fukutoku Inari Shrine Tori gates. Walked under 1000 gates, and got treated to some amazing views of the Hibiki-Nada Sea at the end.

Yamaguchi Kintai Bridge - 錦帯橋 - 4K Ultra HD
Yamaguchi Kintai Bridge - 錦帯橋 - 4K Ultra HD : The Kintai-kyo Bridge has been Iwakuni's most distinctive landmark since its construction in 1673. Entirely made of wood, and this without the use of any nails, the Kintai bridge is composed of five arches sitting on top of massive stones pillars crossing over the Nishiki river and located on the foot of Mt. Yokoyama where Iwakuni castle is situated.
In fact it was only after the construction of the Iwakuni Castle, completed in 1608, that the first lord of Iwakuni domain, Kikkawa Hiroie, started the construction of a series of wooden bridges. Unsuccessful until 1673, with most of the bridges were destroyed by floods, it was under the order of the third lord of the Iwakuni domain, Kikkawa Hiroyoshi, that the actual Kintai bridge was built. This time it involved a revolutionary new design where stone piers would replace wooden ones alongside a greater series of wooden arches.

Old-School Regulars Rolling In & Out in Yamaguchi
Just the other week I was up in Yamaguchi Prefecture to see their annual Car Festival. I was at the same event last year and was impressed by the quality and variety of nostalgics.
The cars you see most in this video are the ever-popular Nissan Skylines and Fairlady Z's. Coming in at No. 2 are Toyota Mark II's, with a couple of old Mazdas, Subarus and Bluebirds filling the gaps.

Yamaguchi Iwakuni Castle - 岩国城 - 4K Ultra HD : Believe it or not but this castle was actually destroyed 7 years after its completion in 1608! Indeed it was on an order from the Tokugawa Shogunate that enforced a ‘one-castle-per- province’ law (一国一城) that meant Iwakuni Castle had to be destroyed. It was only in 1962 that the actual castle was rebuilt and serves today as a small museum and tourist attraction.

(Akama Shrine)
Akama Shrine is a Shinto shrine in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan.
It is dedicated to Antoku, a Japanese emperor who died as a child in the Battle of Dan-no-ura (aka Dannoura), which occurred nearby in 1185.
This battle was important in the history of Japan because it brought an end to Genpei War in which the Minamoto clan defeated the rival Taira clan, and ended the Taira bid for control of Japan.
The shrine is situated on the waterfront of the Kanmon Strait, between the centre of Shimonoseki and the tourist restaurants of Karato, Kanmon Wharf. The bright red main gate makes it a very visible sight.
The colours and style of the gate are inspired by Ryūgū-jō. Antoku's grandmother, Nii-no-Ama, who drowned with Antoku, wished for their palace to be created underwater as she jumped into the sea. Ryūgū-jō is a mythical underwater palace, belonging to the dragon god of the sea. Nii-no-Ama told Antoku, before jumping, that they would go to an underwater palace, without referring to Ryūgū-jō. Then, Antoku's mother (Kenreimon-In, aka Taira no Tokuko) had a dream, in which they were living in Ryūgū-jō.
In 1871, the Kanpei-sha identified the hierarchy of government-supported shrines most closely associated with the Imperial family.
The kampeisha were shrines venerated by the imperial family. This category encompasses those sanctuaries enshrining emperors, imperial family members, or meritorious retainers of the Imperial family. Up through 1940, the mid-range of ranked Imperial shrines or Kanpei-chūsha included the shrine; and it was then known as Akama-gū In 1940, Akama's status was changed Kanpei-taisha , which is the highest rank; and since then, it has been known as Akama jingū.

Yamaguchi stunning views Tour 2019
I participated in a bus tour around a beautiful place in Yamaguchi.
[ Maniac Japan Travel -Chugoku Region ]
It was a little disappointing that it was cloudy, but it would have been more beautiful if it was clear.
Tsunoshima
A long time ago, the island used to have functioning ports, but now people are free to swim in the turquoise water after exploring the mix of traditional Japanese and European architecture. Moreover, the locals are very proud of the lighthouse on Tsunoshima’s island proper. Built 130 year ago, the lighthouse was one of the first ones in Japan and was constructed using Western building techniques.
Most Japanese tourists only come for the bridge and the population of the island numbers only 900, so you can often find secluded patches of nature. It’s a great place for those seeking an unusual, yet picturesque, getaway destination.
Tsunoshima Ohashi
On the far west side of Yamaguchi Prefecture, there is an island that attracts a very specific kind of tourist: the Japanese bridge fanatics.
This island is hidden on the southwest of Japan’s main island of Honshu. Tsunoshima is connected to mainland Japan by the second-longest bridge in the country. Tsunoshima Bridge is 1,780-meters long and it is known for its perfectly straight length and then sloping curves. The bridge is famous not only as a great photo spot but also as a fantastic place for a scenic drive. Driving across the open water is an exhilarating experience.
Motonosumi jinja
Motonosumi Shrine was selected by CNN Travel as one of the 31 Most Beautiful Places in Japan. The shrine's remarkable location makes for a striking contrast between the red of its gates and the cobalt blue of the waves below.
This shrine was built to honor a white fox spirit, to whom visitors prayed for financial success, success in fishing, and safety on the seas. Nowadays, a wide variety of wishes are fielded by the fox god, including good fortune & wealth, childbearing, marriage, traffic safety, success in school.
An offeratory box is positioned at the top of the tallest torii gate, and it is said that the wishes of those who can successfully toss their coin up into the box will be granted.
