4K | Ultimate African Safari and Gorilla Trek in Uganda
In 2018 I went on a safari trip in Uganda, the landlocked African country at the equator.
The journey started in Entebbe at Lake Vicoria and continued to Queen Elisabeth National Park with the broad Kazinga channel and the tree-dwelling lions. In the rain forest of the Kibale National Park I watched the chimpanzees in the tree tops. The highlight of the journey was the Mountain Gorilla trekking in the heart of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park next to the volcanoes of Virunga.
Further stops were at Lake Bunyonyi (world's fourth deepest lake), Lake Mburo National Park and the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre in Entebbe.
In the video you can see the notorious big five animals (lion, buffalo, rhino, elephant and leopard) in their natural habitat.
A special thanks goes to Mamaland Safaris:

Uganda Highlights
Uganda, officially the Republic of Uganda (Swahili: Jamhuri ya Uganda), is a landlocked country (except for its borders with Lake Victoria and Lake Albert) in East-Central Africa. It is bordered to the east by Kenya, to the north by South Sudan, to the west by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, to the south-west by Rwanda, and to the south by Tanzania. The southern part of the country includes a substantial portion of Lake Victoria, shared with Kenya and Tanzania. Uganda is in the African Great Lakes region. Uganda also lies within the Nile basin, and has a varied but generally a modified equatorial climate.
Uganda takes its name from the Buganda kingdom, which encompasses a large portion of the south of the country, including the capital Kampala. The people of Uganda were hunter-gatherers until 1,700 to 2,300 years ago, when Bantu-speaking populations migrated to the southern parts of the country.
Beginning in 1894, the area was ruled as a protectorate by the UK, who established administrative law across the territory. Uganda gained independence from the UK on 9 October 1962. The period since then has been marked by intermittent conflicts, including a lengthy civil war against the Lord's Resistance Army in the Northern Region led by Joseph Kony, which has caused hundreds of thousands of casualties.
The official languages are English and Swahili, although any other language may be used as a medium of instruction in schools or other educational institutions or for legislative, administrative or judicial purposes as may be prescribed by law. Luganda, a central language, is widely spoken across the country, and several other languages are also spoken including Runyoro, Runyankole, Rukiga, Luo and Lusoga.
The president of Uganda is Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, who came to power in January 1986 after a protracted six-year guerrilla war. He has since eliminated the presidential term limits and the presidential age limit, becoming president for life

Mountain trekking in Uganda. Be Fearless. Be Intrepid.
As seasoned adventurers, it takes something unique to really rattle Ari and Tayla. Like the guttural growl of rare mountain gorillas hiding just out of sight, or the gaze of a silverback staring you down. But what starts as a hair-raising experience quickly becomes moving, as the two friends realise we have a closer connection with these vine-jumping, playful primates than we think.
Intrepid Travel has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1989. A company that began with two bearded backpackers, a typewriter and a kitchen table now leads 100,000 travellers across the globe each year.
And although we’re a bit larger these days – with 1,000 local staff based around the world and over 800 different trips across every continent (not to mention multiple kitchen tables) – our mission remains the same. We still get a kick out of responsible travel, small groups and very (very) big adventures.
NTV Green: Kibale National Park, the world's primate capital
In this week’s NTV Green, Suhail Mugabi explores Kibale Forest National Park which is now widely termed as the primate capital of world as it is home to least 13 primate species.
The main attraction in the park is chimpanzee tracking in the wild, which remains one of Uganda’s main tourist attractions.
