The store is located in Port Hope, Ontario. It imports unique arts and crafts from around the world for over 16 years! Open to the public 6 days a week, seasonally. Primitive Designs is family owned by Ron Dacey, Rhonda Cook and their son Maximus. Their is our 26’ tall freestanding Optimus Prime robot, which is located at the front entrance. Weighing in at just over 2 tonnes, this robot is made out of recycled auto parts and took 7 months to complete! Since bringing this giant overseas from Southeast Asia in 2012, it has captured the media’s attention all over the Country. Rated #1 on Trip Advisor, and one of Canada’s Top Roadside Attractions, it is worth the drive. Located in Eastern Ontario.

Primitive Designs is a retail, import store located in Port Hope, Ontario. We have been importing unique arts and crafts from around the world, for the past 13 years! Open to the public 6 days a week, our 8000 square foot gallery (as well as numerous outdoor tents), can occupy your time for hours! Our marketplace atmosphere, complete with music from around the globe, takes you on a journey from Bali, Thailand, & Nepal, to Morocco, India, & Vietnam! Everything in the gallery is hand-made, and the Owner’s handpick every item. Rated #1 on Trip Advisor, and one of Canada’s Top Roadside Attractions, it is worth the drive. Our visitors come from Nova Scotia, Vancouver, & the US, as there is nothing else like us!
Our claim-to-fame is our 26’ tall freestanding robot, which is located at the front entrance to our gallery. RIPLEY’s Believe it or Not! has just purchased 1 of our 2 giant robots as well!

Every time I drive out to Port Hope, I keep thinking I should live there. lol I was amazed with the collection of MANY different things you could see at Primitive Design. Decorators would have a Field day. Take a road trip. 2 minutes North of the 401 on HWY 28.

There are Huge Transformers in Port Hope!
Voted the top tourist attraction in Port Hope, and I can see why!
Primitive Designs is so friggin' cool with gigantic robots/Transformers. The retail gallery and gift shop imports exotic antiques and crafts from countries such as Vietnam, Bali, Thailand and Mexico. From furniture, tiki huts, paintings, wall decor, light fixtures, to huge giant robots; this store is like entering an exotic museum.
Come take a tour! You will see my kids in the video having a blast as well.
