Prince Edward County Lavender
This is a beauty montage, Vinette, of Prince Edward County Lavender Farm. Produced by Crowe Video Productions: croweproductions.ca
Prince Edward County Lavender is a grower, distiller and crafter of fine lavender products. Nestled among the rolling hills in the heart of Hillier wine country, on a farm rich in history dating back to the 1830's. Our lavender farm is a short two-hour drive from Toronto, three hours from Montreal and Ottawa. On our farm you will find many cultivars of lavender offering a myriad of colours, scents and tastes. Some of our cultivars are praised for the exceptional essential oil quality while others are best kept for the culinary aspect or craft.
In our boutique, you can browse and select from an array of hand crafted lavender products including body care, pure essential oil, dried lavender, wands, sachets and plants to name a few. We are very excited about our newest line of culinary products, including lavender salt, lavender sugar and Herbes de Provence where all herbs are grown on our farm. And each year we keep adding new products as our volume of lavender increases. We are proud to offer lavender products nurtured in a herbicide and pesticide-free environment.
We invite you to tour our fields of lavender and feel a touch of Provence in the County. Visit us during the peak flowering period throughout July for the definitive lavender experience. As the lavender plants take three years to mature, each visit of our farm will give you a different view and appreciation of these gorgeous purple fields.
Prince Edward County Lavender Festival & Closson Chase Winery
Please watch: My Latest Video! Davis Family Farm Sunflower Festival, Sunflower Fields Near Toronto
--~--
In this video, my family and I paid a visit to The Prince Edward County Lavender Farm, and the Closson Chase Winery. Located in the Hillier Wine region of Prince Edward County, a short 20 minute drive from Belleville.
There are a few Lavender fields near Toronto, but this one has been on our family weekend bucketlist because this year, they celebrated their 8th annual Lavender Festival. We'd read about Live Music, A Portable Petting Zoo, and a Lavender Fairy online, who would all be attending this year. We are so glad we made it for the last day of the festival, where we got to enjoy them all, and taste some delicious Lavender Gelato!
After our trip to the PEC, we stopped not far down the road for a Closson Chase Wine Tasting, which could not have been more enjoyable and beautiful. The property itself is so majestic, it would be hard for anyone visiting not to fall in love with their exquisite wines and enjoy the scenery. What was totally amazing and unexpected about our visit there, was that the wonderful people at Closson Chase gave my son Aiden a great big red Freeze to enjoy while we adults sampled the phenomenal wines!
Thank you to Closson Case Winery for making our very first expirience at a winery as a family so incredible and enjoyable.
Admission was $10 for the Festival, Free for kids under 12 ($5 throughout the regular season) Parking was Free and On Site, making this already amazing experience even sweeter!

Claudine Galy - Why Prince Edward County?
Jeff asks, “What made you choose to call Prince Edward County your home?”.
The list is long but I’ll tell my favourites. First, the sense of community here is unmatched. People are warm, welcoming, and supportive. One example: I was proud to witness & be part of the community effort for PEC Syria. So much care & thought was put into helping Syrian families move to our area. Second, this is a community driven by many types of business ranging from agriculture to heavy industry and all in between, but there is definitely a support for and focus on the Arts, food, craft beer, and wine, which makes this a really fun place to live year-round. Third, I grew up in the Caribbean and will tell you all day, we are spoiled here in the County for beautiful, sparkling waterfront .. including picture-perfect white sand beaches!
I see Prince Edward as the perfect location to lay down roots & build a business. The entrepreneurial spirit here is strong & creative. I love hearing the stories of those who are making a success of themselves here! On that note.. what more perfect of a location to have this conversation, than the County Canteen? Nat and Drew are completely inspiring to me, a great example of families who move to (or return to) Prince Edward County, pursuing a dream and enriching our community with their energy & drive. Looking forward to another year of discovery and growth in Prince Edward County!

Hillier Gardens May 2017
Had the day out with the family on the bank holiday weekend. Had a nice day at Hillier Gardens.
I shot the whole video on one lens. Samyang 12mm f2. I wanted to do a test shooting an entire video on one focal length. In this case it was my manual wide angle lens. My most used lens is the 30mm but thought I should practice my wide angle lens/gimbal shots. It is really interesting to shoot on a wide angle only and on a manual lens. I missed focus on quite a few shots due to the manual focus.
I also used a lighting stand and attached it to the Zhiyun Crane which was how I was able to get the elevated shots.
Also I did masked/rotoscope transition and this is the first time I've tried this on FCPX and I learned that irregular shaped objects (in this case a tree) is difficult and tedious! But this is all a test to help better my skill as shooter, editor, mograph and vfx.
Hope you enjoy!

Prince Edward County Wines Video
Winemaker Norm Hardie and wine blogger Joe Hache video chat with Natalie about:
- what minerality means in wine and Norm makes a great comparison to hydroponic lettuce
- why the grapes grown in Burgundy, France, do so well in Prince Edward County
- how county wines are different from those made in other regions of Ontario such as Niagara and southwestern Ontario
- what visitors to the county can do aside from visiting wineries: artisanal cheeses, meats and terrific restaurants
- why the people's choice awards for wine is the next great step in promoting Canadian wine and fully engaging Canadian wine drinkers

Casa-Dea Estate Winery La Pergola Restaurant Prince Edward County
The video is on the Restaurant but it also might as well be the winery. The former Carmela Estates is now called Casa-Dea. The physical surroundings are very much the same but the current owners have made a real mark for themselves in the County. Great food, service and wine at a resonable price.
The sparkler, Dea's Cuvee is the best Canadian Sparkler this Hypersensitive taster has had. The other wines we tasted were also very good.

1875 Captain's House, Prince Edward County, ON VRBO
Historic Century Estate On 120 Acres. Short Walk To Very Private Beach. Restored Victorian Brick With 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths In Beautiful Pastoral Setting.
Originally the farmhouse for a 120 acre estate, The Captain's House* is a very private 4 bedroom 2 bath brick Victorian shaded by 100 year old Sugar Maples and Lilacs. Built in 1875 and lovingly restored by the heirs of the estate, the Captain's House is just 1.5 K from a beautiful Lake Ontario beach and within a few minutes of 15 different wineries. This all season retreat is ideal for families, beach lovers, cyclists, golfers, equestrians, wine enthusiasts, antique collectors, bird watchers, hunters, fishermen, boaters, cross country skiers, art lovers and those who enjoy fine cuisine. As you enter, you walk over two ancient gristmill stones that harken back to older days. The front veranda and the rooms inside have beautiful views of tranquil pastures, a Century Barn and distant views of Huyck's Bay. Once inside, you find hardwood floors, tall ceilings and spacious rooms typical of the era. The living room features large airy windows, an upright piano and a collection of interesting antiques and artifacts from the original estate. There is also a comfortable double sofa bed for those who might have trouble navigating the stairs to the second floor bedrooms. Adjoining the living room is a formal dining room with the original dining table that seats 8 very comfortably. Adjoining that is a very well equipped kitchen with brand new appliances, countertops and cupboards along with everything you need to prepare meals for the gourmet or the gourmand. In the next room, your children will find privacy and everything they need to entertain themselves including satellite TV, Wi-Fi, a CD player, board games, Foosball, a pool table and just outside, badminton & croquet. Completing the downstairs is a full four-piece bath with porcelain tile floors and a large washer and dryer. Upstairs, there are four charming bedrooms—two with double beds and two with queen beds—all with original wide plank pine floors and tasteful décor. There is also a four-piece bath with porcelain tile floors and brand new fixtures. Outside, the grounds are landscaped and the shady patio has a BBQ, a table with seating for eight and is host to many species of birds that flock to the feeders.
All in all, the Captain's House harkens back to another time when peace and tranquility were the rule. Not the exception.
*The Legend of The Captain's House. In 1874, there was a terrible storm on Lake Ontario that sank many boats and washed many things ashore. Soon after the storm subsided, two farmers who then owned the property were walking along their beachfront and saw what appeared to be a large wooden door with something lashed to it. That something proved to be a man, long drowned and unrecognizable, who was wearing a Captain's uniform the pockets of which were stuffed with gold coins. The farmers respectfully relieved the Captain of his burden and ceremoniously set him adrift once again thinking a burial at sea was the proper thing to do. And besides, why waste the money. So they used it to build two very fine houses. One of which is now called The Captain's House.
