Prince of Wales pier Dover - pier fishing mark, Kent, England.
for more angling video guides to
English South Coast shore fishing marks.
One of the most well known of all British places to go shore fishing...and possibly one of the best to try for the beginner angler living near the South Coast.
The video explains why it makes for convenient fishing for the shore angler, covers depths along the pier, rules, costs and parking, as well as giving you a general feel for the fishing there.
Sheringham Bone Ship - The wreck of the Prince of Wales
On the night of 24th October 1868
in a heavy gale and stormy seas
the sloop The Prince of Wales,
carrying a cargo of bone from
Rochester in Kent to Kings Lynn,
floundered on the reef just outside
Sheringham, North Norfolk.
Two boats manned by local
fishermen immediately launched
to go to the aid of the stricken
vessel and managed to save all the
crew including the Captain, W Snawe,
sailing the Prince of Wales for the first
time for its new owners.
Unfortunately the ship was beyond
help and was wrecked on the beach at
Sheringham's Old Hythe where 150
years later it still lies in shallow water
emerging a few times a year at very
low tides.
The wreck has over the years
become known locally
as the 'Bone Ship' and more senior
members of the community can recall
finding animal bones along the seashore
in the area of the wreck on occasion.
The segments of 'live' video are
what remains of the 'Bone Ship' and
were filmed at the Old Hythe in
July and August 2018.
The Prince of Wales is listed in the Lloyds
Shipping Registery of 1868 as a 54 ton
iron bolted sloop some 180 foot in length
and 50 foot in breadth and built in
Wisbech in 1857.
For those wishing to see the wreck,
check the local tide times and conditions
and remember it can only be seen on the
very lowest of tides throughout the year.
Map co-ordinates are in the vicinity of
52.947021, 1.186667

Ghost stations is the usual English translation for the German word Geisterbahnhöfe. This term was used to describe certain stations on Berlin's U-Bahn and S-Bahn metro networks that were closed during the period of Berlin's division during the Cold War. Since then, the term has come to be used to describe any disused station on an underground railway line, especially those actively passed through by passenger trains.
An abandoned (or disused) railway station is a building or structure which was constructed to serve as a railway station but has fallen into disuse. There are various circumstances when this may occur - a railway company may fall bankrupt, or the station may be closed due to the failure of economic activitiy such as insufficient passenger numbers, operational reasons such as the diversion or replacement of the line. In some instances, the railway line may continue in operation while the station is closed. Additionally, stations may sometimes be resited along the route of the line to new premises - examples of this include opening a replacement station nearer to the centre of population, or building a larger station on a less restricted site to cope with high passenger numbers.

Admiralty Pier Dover in Kent - English shore fishing location, South East Coast, UK
Admiralty Pier in Dover - pier fishing mark in Kent, England.
for more angling video guides to English South East Coast shore fishing marks.
Dover docks are very big and how to get to the Admiralty pier is not obvious, so this video includes driving directions and access as well as the angling considerations.
Along with the other two fishing locations in Dover, the Prince of Wales pier and the Southern Breakwater, the Admiralty pier is one of the most popular of all South East coast sea fishing marks.
Pier fishing in heavily visited venues can make for uncomfortable fishing, however. This video tries to show that, to inform the visiting shore angler what to expect.

Ffestiniog And Welsh Highland Railway Photo Charter - November 2019
After a break of a few years Bob Branch organised a week of charters on the narrow gauge railways of Wales which took in the Ffestiniog, Talyllyn and Vale of Rheidol Railways. This video covers the 5 1/2 days at the Ffestiniog which saw the eagerly awaited return of Baldwin No.608. Sadly the loco suffered from badly leaking tubes on the Sunday and with a number of other problems was not fit to run on any of the following days. Scenes included in the video as follows;
Baldwin 608 and 'Prince' near Hafod Ruffydd, solo at Boston Lodge and entering Porthmadog across The Cob.
Posing with 'Russell' at Pen y Mount
Between the tunnels in the Aberglaslyn Pass and finally a diiferent view at Hafod Ruffydd
'Hugh Napier' and 'Lilla' with skip wagons at Minffordd and Boston Lodge
'Russell' at Nantmor, Aberglaslyn Pass and Beddgelert
'Prince' departing Porthmadog
'Merddin Emrys' entering Porthmadog and then passing Boston Lodge
'Taliesin' slipping into Minffordd
'Merddin Emrys' and 'Taliesin' at Rhiw Goch and a view of 'Taliesin' at Cei Mawr
'Merddin Emrys' at Dduallt
'Taliesin' at Campbells Platform
'Blanche' at Cei Mawr and Tanygrisiau Reservoir
'Merddin Emrys' at Tanygrisiau Reservoir
'Palmerston' and 'Taliesin' in the Aberglaslyn Pass
'Palmerston' and 'Prince' climbing through Beddgelert Forest to the summit of the WHR at Pitt's Head
Many thanks to Bob Branch and all involved at the Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland Railways and the WHHR for organising the event
