Long Ago Sewing We Will Remember: The Story of the Gwich'in Traditional Clothing Project
In 1999, the Gwich'in Social and Cultural Institute (GSCI) formed a partnership with the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre (PWNHC) and the Canadian Museum of Civilization (CMC) to create five replicas of a 19th C. Gwich'in man's summer outfit from the collections of the CMC. The project enlisted the help of over 40 seamstresses over 2 ½ years and gave us an opportunity to document, understand and appreciate how the clothing was made. It also repatriated skills and knowledge no longer practiced in the Gwich'in region. This video recounts the story of this project using footage from GSCI and CBC North and was edited with permission for the Gwich'in Traditional Clothing Project exhibit at the PWNHC in Yellowknife from 2007-2008.

The Tremain Collection, NWT_2012_Part 4
Gwen Tremain Runyard of California, USA donated a collection of northern clothing, models and crafts that was acquired by her parents, while they were living in the Northwest Territories (NWT) 1914-1919.
Mom's last trip was flying up to The Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Center, Yellowknife's museum to see her parents collection on display in 2012. The museum staff pampered us so. They were very nice folks.
