Princess Diana Beach, Barbuda (2018) - Before and After Hurricane Irma
I got a chance to go to Barbuda yesterday with Excellence Cruises. Princess Diana Beach is still my Favorite beach in the world despite loosing ALL the coconut trees. Still the softest sand you will ever feel, a unique color blue sea and the clearest waters i have ever seen. This was my first time exploring Barbuda since Hurricane Irma Passed in September 2017 and damaged over 90% of the infrastructure which led to the entire population of 1600 people being evacuated. I was on one of the first boats to bring supplies and evacuate the elderly, pregnant and women with young children 24 hours after Irma hit (with Excellence Cruises ) Video in link below. It was hard to see the state of Barbuda. They still need lots of help because hurricane season is approaching again.
About 300 people currently live in Barbuda at the moment in some tough conditions. There is only an ATM, no bank, many people are still living in tents and many roofs have tarpolans and some are being reconstructed. Excellence Cruises offers a tour to Barbuda once a week which recently just started back. Lunch, open bar, 2 beach breaks and complimentary 45 minute tour of the Frigate Bird Sanctuary. See Barbuda as it recovers from the Strongest ever recorded Hurricane to Hit the Caribbean. Barbuda received the eye of Irma.

This is a video i found on my computer from last year when some of my family visited from Canada and we went to Barbuda for the day. I have no idea how i made this video but has some great shots of Barbuda while on a tour with Excellence Cruises.
Honeymoon: Barbuda - Princess Diana Beach
Barbuda Tour with Excellence Cruises (2015)(Low Bay, Princess Diana Beach, Frigate Bird Sanctuary)
This is an old video i did from 2015 from my day trip to Barbuda with Excellence Cruises (The largest boat offering day tours in Antigua). They normally do a Circumnavigation tour around Antigua in 5.5 hours but they also do a Barbuda tour for the day in about 6.5 hours. Lunch, open bar, 2 beach breaks and guided tour of the Frigate Bird Sanctuary is all included. Princess Dianna Beach was one of the most beautiful beach in the world with the coconut trees (Before Irma), now it is arguable.
The male frigate birds with their bright red chests return annually in August and September. The frigate Bird Sanctuary tour is an ADVENTURE by itself (a MUST if you ever visit Barbuda).
The tour does cost about $140 USD (non locals) per adult.

BARBUDA ~ Epic ADVENTURE DAY ~Robert De Niro future Hotel Aerials ~ WeBeYachting.com
Footage of our epic Adventure day. Barbuda is an island in the Eastern Caribbean, and forms part of the state of Antigua and Barbuda. It has a population of about 1,638 (at the 2011 Census), most of whom live in the town of Codrington. The island is famous for its beautiful pristine pink coral sand beaches. Low Bay beach is 17 of unbroken miles of pink sand beach. With mysterious abandoned forts, Neolithic caves and beachfront untouched since the days of Christopher Columbus, Barbuda is host to a wild bird sanctuary standing on a mesmerizing lagoon. A liberal scattering of ancient shipwrecks off its shores, Barbuda is both the deepest retreat into solitude you could dream of and almost untouched to the world.

WEST INDIES: BARBUDA: BRITAIN'S PRINCESS DIANA'S SUNSHINE VACATION
English/Nat
Princess Diana escaped rain and a family feud at home and fled to the sunshine of the Caribbean this week, only to find herself in the middle of a land battle between locals and resort owners.
Barbudans are furious that government efforts to protect the privacy of the most photographed woman in the world have cut off access to one of the country's best beaches.
Princess Diana avoided Christmas with the Royal Family for this: the beautiful beaches of the Caribbean.
Some of the beaches in Antigua and Barbuda which are supposed to be open to the public, have been closed off since the Royal visit to protect the princess' privacy.
The restrictions have upset some locals and angered some members of the council in Barbuda, a tiny two-island nation in the eastern Caribbean.
Ever since Diana arrived Wednesday, police and soldiers have blocked the road to the exclusive resort where she's staying, cutting off public access to its two miles (three kilometres) of public beach.
Coast Guard boats are patrolling offshore.
When a photographer snapped pictures from a boat Friday, the Coast Guard confiscated the film, even though Diana was not on the beach.
Barbuda Council M-P Frank Hilbourne explained why part of the island's beautiful beach needed to be cordoned off.
SOUNDBITE: (In English)
Well the whole beach, I would expect that for security sake some part of the beach would be cordoned off for the Princess' protection and security. But not two miles of beach depriving locals and other visiting people from having access to a public spot.

Mr Hilbourne criticised those people who had questioned the validity of Diana's visit.
SOUNDBITE: (In English)
Well they have insulted the representatives of the island.

Journalists trying to get near her holiday home -- seen here behind the plantation -- were abruptly told to go away by well armed soldiers.
However many local people said Diana should be given a warm Caribbean welcome.
SOUNDBITE: (Vox Pops)
I think she is an ordinary person just like me. I'm just sympathetic with her because she has to lead this kind of life, being so guarded and not liberal.

SOUNDBITE: (Vox Pops)
Well I think it's a welcome visit - enough people didn't get to see her, but we understand the nature of her visit and any person who desires to be on an island for a vacation deserves to be left alone for a while - some sort of privacy - that's about the only way you can truly enjoy yourself.

The luxury resort's assistant manager, Jean-Luc Chomat said he was unaware of the islanders' complaints that they aren't welcome at resorts.

Barbuda, From Above
It’s one of the least developed islands in the Caribbean — and wonderfully so: Barbuda, the sandy sister island of Antigua, home to endless stretches of perfect white sand beaches. Here’s a quick look at what it’s like, from above.
