This was probably one of the funnest trips we've had in Hawaii.
We usually go towards more of the touristy parts but this time we ventured deep into the island and it was an incredible experience.

Princeville
Recorded January 18, 2004. Princeville is a planned resort community on the north shore of the island of Kauai, and is home to the Princeville Resort. The area was named in honor of an 1860 visit by Prince Albert Kamehameha. This video begins as I drive onto the resort property and then admire the scenic ocean view from the property. Next I visit Hanalei Lookout, the majority of all of Hawaii's taro is grown here. Also included in the video is an aerial view of the area from my helicopter tour a couple days earlier.

Princeville Kaua'i Hawai'i 27
Princeville is a 9,000-acre (3,600 ha), upscale, unincorporated, master-planned community of homes and condos on the north shore of the island of Kaua'i in Kauai County, Hawai'i, United States.
Princeville is bordered to the east by Kalihiwai, to the west by Hanalei, and to the north by the Pacific Ocean. It is the northernmost settlement in the state of Hawai'i.
A total area of 2.5 square miles (6.4 km2), of which 2.4 sq. mi (6.2 km2) are land and 0.1 sq. mi (0.2 km2), or 2.60%, are water.
The area was named in honor of an 1860 visit by Prince Albert Kamehameha, son of King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma. It was then a plantation owned by Robert Crichton Wyllie. He named another part of the plantation Emmaville, but that name never stuck.
Originally the land was planted with coffee, which was not suited to the wet lowlands. It was then planted with sugarcane. In 1867 it was purchased by Elisha Hunt Allen and later became a cattle ranch. It was sold for development in 1968 and became a golf course and resort called Princeville at Hanalei.
The Nene (Branta sandvicensis), aka Nēnē and Hawaiian goose, is a species of bird endemic to the Hawaiian Islands. The official bird of the state of Hawaiʻi, the Nēnē is exclusively found in the wild on the islands of O'ahu, Maui, Kauaʻi, Moloka'i, and Hawaiʻi.
The Hawaiian name Nēnē comes from its soft call. The specific name sandvicensis refers to the Sandwich Islands, a former name for the Hawaiian Islands.
The nene is an inhabitant of shrubland, grassland, coastal dunes, and lava plains, and related anthropogenic habitats such as pasture and golf courses from sea level to as much as 2,400 m (7,900 ft). Some populations migrated between lowland breeding grounds and montane foraging areas.
The nene could at one time be found on the islands of Hawaiʻi, Maui, Kahoʻolawe, Lānaʻi, Molokaʻi, and Kauaʻi. Today, its range is restricted to Hawaiʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi, and Kauaʻi. A pair arrived at the James Campbell National Wildlife Refuge on Oʻahu in January 2014; two of their offspring survived and are seen regularly on the nearby golf courses at Turtle Bay Resort

Queens Bath Princeville, Kauai Adventure | Home In Hawaii
Queen's Bath in Princeville Hawaii is a unique tide pool which is a sinkhole surrounded by igneous rocks. It takes a short hike which is 2 miles round trip. The trail starts off on a steep down hill hike, It is very muddy and slick. I would recommend using a hiking stick if you plan on doing this trail. The scenery is very amazing and eventually leads to the coast of what remands from an extinct volcano. Continue on and stay on you left until you see a secure area that is fully blocked off from ocean. This is the Queens bath. Small fish and sea life also live in the pool which makes it a unique place to snorkel under safe conditions.
