Pasul Prislop - Borsa Complex | Prislop Pass, Romania (Part 2)
Prislop Pass (Romanian: Pasul Prislop) is a mountain pass in northern Romania.
Linking Transylvania to Bucovina, Prislop Pass is surrounded by the Rodna and Maramures Mountains, both ranges of the Carpathians. The highest peak in the region is Pietrosul Rodnei — 2,303 meters.
The Prislop Pass is situated at an altitude of 1,416 meters, being the highest Romanian pass. The road that crosses the pass (DN18), links Viseu, Moisei, Borsa (province of Maramures) with Campulung Moldovenesc, Suceava County (province of Moldavia). The nearest city is Borsa. It is a hair raising mountain pass, it has a beautiful scenery, absolutely amazing but the quality of the asphalt is really bad. However, if you are there for the scenery and you are not in a rush, you will enjoy the curvy, high altitude road.
In winter the pass is blocked by snow, because of the altitude, but in the summer the tourists have a wonderful view to the Obcinile Bucovinei, to the Rodna Mountains with Pietrosu (2303m) and Ineu (2279m) peaks, and to the springs of Golden Bistriţa. In the second Sunday of August here it takes place the folk festival Hora de la Prislop celebrating the descending of the sheep flocks from the mountains.
I think it was a good challenge for me to ride down Prislop Pass.
For many of us, mountain biking isn't just a sport or a hobby, It's a way of life opening the door to a world of possibilities, places often too remote for the tourist hordes and engage with locals in a more meaningful way than from the seat of a tour bus.
@Romana:
Asa ca: Good Luck!! .

Magnificent Stretches of Forest BikeRide | Prislop - Borsa, | Maramures 2019
Prislop Pass (Romanian: Pasul Prislop, is a mountain pass in northern Romania, connecting the historical regions of Maramures and Bukovina over the Rodna Mountains, in the Eastern Carpathians, situated at an elevation of 1,416 meters. The nearest city is Borșa.
Prislop also known as DN18 is probably the most beautiful pass in Romania which links Viseu, Moisei and Borsa (Maramures) to Campulung Moldovenesc (Suceava).
National Road 18, which crosses two mountain versants: Gutai Mountains and Rodna Mountains, has one of the most amazing scenery in the country. Prislop has a length of 50 kilometers, between Borsa (on the west side) and Cârlibaba Village, (on the east side) and an opening width between 30 to 40 km.
From the top you have an amazing view over the Obcinile Bucovinei, the Rodna Mountains with Pietrosu (2303meters) and Ineu (2279meters) peaks.
Every year, on the third Sunday of August, following the day of Saint Mary (in the Orthodox Calendar) an inter-county festival takes place which promotes traditions, customs, traditional costumes and songs. The folk festival, ‘Hora de la Prislop'( Dancing in Prislop) takes place on Prislop Pass, 1,416 meters altitude. Hora de la Prislop is a traditional event in Romania and it was mentioned for the first time in old documents in 1738. It was forbidden for a long period of time, but restarted in 1968. It gathers annually a large number of people, tourists too, and the record was set in 1973, when over 50,000 people came over.

TRANSALPINA road (Romania)
Enable English subtitle ! - Activați subtitrarea în românește !
Transalpina is a 148.2 km long road crossing the Parang Mountains (Southern Carpathians) from south to north, joining Oltenia (Novaci, Gorj county) with Transylvania (town Sebes, Alba county). The road is the highest in Romania, in Urdele Pass reaching the clouds, 2,145 meters. It is probably the most spectacular road in the country, especially in the portion of the alpine between the Rânca resort and Obarsia Lotrului where a length of 20 km it has the character of a ridge road passing near the tops Dengheru (2,084 m), Papusal (2,136 m), Urdele (2,228 m), Iezer (2,157 m) and Muntinu (2,062 m). The scenery is complemented by spectacular views with lakes and glaciers calderas. Opening this road by the Roman army on the way to Sarmizegetusa (the capital of Dacia) is not very clear, instead the use since medieval times as a way of transhumance between Tansilvania and Oltenia is sure. This road has been repaired by the German army during the First World War and then by the Romanian state during 1934-1939 at the order of King Charles II. The road was rehabilitated by the German army in the Second World War, after which fall in derelict. In recent years, the road has finally been modernized, not completely, but ensuring good conditions especially in the ridge area. Our video only plays sequences from the south, the most spectacular, of Novaci - Rânca - Obarsia Lotrului sector, with serpentines and high slopes that test and car and the drivers.
