Herve: My name is Herve and I'm giving the Prestige Tour in Versailles. Today we're going to be going behind the scenes.
Here we are in the nave of the Chapel Saint Louis inside the palace and as you see, we get to go in the nave, which is not the case for most people.
I love being a tour guide and specifically on the Prestige Tour, because I get to open the doors that we're not supposed to open.
We are in the bathroom of Marie Antoinette. How come there's a bed in the bathroom? For the reason that in those days, doctors would say that taking a bath would weaken your body, so after taking a bath, you had to lie down.
Now we arrive behind Marie Antoinette's bedroom. So Marie Antoinette fled through here, going from her bedroom to the Salon of the Bull's Eyes, and to the king's bedroom when the palace was attacked.
Louis XV was very well known for having many, many mistresses, but Madame de Pompadour is the main one. She was treated like she was a queen, even though she wasn't, and that's why she was hated.
Here we are in front of the Petit Trianon. The Petit Trianon is Marie Antoinette's estate. Queen Marie Antoinette used to say that when she was at Trianon, she was not the Queen, but she was herself.
This is the hamlet. The idea was to recreate a village of Normandy. It had to look very natural.
Man: We got into the background. That was just amazing. That's what makes it VIP, very special. I would give the tour a 10 out of 5.

Versailles, France - Palace of Versailles (2018)
The Palace of Versailles (French: Château de Versailles) was the principal residence of the Kings of France from Louis XIV in 1682 until the beginning of the French Revolution in 1789. It is located in the Yvelines Department of the Île-de-France region, about twenty kilometers (14 miles) southwest of the centre of Paris.
The Palace is now a French Historic Monument and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, notable especially for the ceremonial Hall of Mirrors, the jewel-like Opera theater, and royal apartments; for the more intimate royal residences, the Grand Trianon and Petit Trianon located within the park; the small rustic hamlet created for Marie Antoinette; and the vast Gardens of Versailles with fountains, canals, and geometric flower beds and groves, laid out by André le Nôtre. The Palace was stripped of all its furnishings after the French Revolution, but many pieces have been returned and many of the palace rooms have been restored.
Fontainebleau, France: Royal Château
More info about travel to France: It seems every king, queen, and emperor since has loved this palace — Louis XIII was born here, Louis XV was married here — but Fontainebleau has more Napoleon Bonaparte connections than any other palace.

Located only a 24 Km away from Paris, The palace was originally built by Louis XIII as a hunting lodge. It wasn’t turned into a palace until Louis XIII’s son, the famous Louis XIV, decided to do so. The Château de Versailles housed the kings and queens of France until they were chased out in 1789 during the French Revolution. But luckily for us, the Palace of Versailles still stands in all its glory.

Paris Travel Guide 2019 | Louvre Private Tour | Things To Do In Paris
Welcome back to our family travel vlog and we are very excited to share with you our Louvre private tour adventure in Paris. It's an amazing place to visit. Learn more at
Want to learn how to travel as we do? See our Free training:
We are at the top of the Eiffel Tower in Paris and we are going to walk down the stairs instead of the elevator and there is a 10-minute walk of course.
We have got a private boat tour scheduled here and we are gonna go see the Eiffel Tower. A rainy day in Paris this our last full day so we are going shopping.
The Eiffel Tower, La Tour Eiffel in French, was the main exhibit of the Paris Exposition. It was constructed to commemorate the centennial of the French Revolution and to demonstrate France's industrial prowess to the world.
The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Paris, commonly known as Sacre Basilica and often simply Sacre-Coeur Basilique du Sacre-Coeur, pronounced is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, in Paris.
If you're only going to visit one museum or gallery in Paris, the Louvre should be it. But how do you best explore its riches without getting overwhelmed and lost in the crowds? Bring along a local expert on a private Louvre tour.
Your local guide will ensure you skip the line - after all, that's no way to spend your time in Paris! Once inside, you'll smoothly navigate through the palace to see the Louvre's most celebrated treasures: the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, Leonardo's Mona Lisa, Michelangelo's Slaves, the Coronation of Napoleon... or perhaps focus on just one or two areas, if you have a special interest.
As one of our Louvre guides, Isabelle, explains: The rapport between a Guide and their clients implies that subtle music is written, a dynamic is enjoyed and that knowledge is shared. Pleasure, too. And that is very important. Expect your private tour to the Louvre to be every bit as nuanced, enlightening and enjoyable as Isabelle suggests.

Narrator: Welcome your City Wonders VIP tour of Versailles. Everyone who comes to Versailles is a part of history. What happened here at Versailles in the 17th and 18th centuries affected the way nations and cultures around the world think about authority, government, and national pride. This Versailles VIP tour does have the skip the line feature, which means that you get to go in straight past the long line of people queuing up to enter the palace. And then once you get into the private apartments, for much of the time, our group is alone, and we don't even mingle with the rest of the crowd.
Louis XIV, I said, he always lived in public. He lived in the big rooms that we are going to see later. But that doesn't mean he didn't use these rooms. Louis XIV was a collector. The treaties that created the United States were signed in Versailles and in Paris.
Female: The best part was being in the rooms back behind the scenes, especially when you saw the crowds when you came out from where the kings would go back in and out.
Narrator: Now you've emerged from the private apartments into the state apartments. The apartments intended to blow everyone's minds. And you can see why the kings, later Louis XV and Louis XVI, they didn't want to live in these rooms. They're too big. And they also didn't want to change them. They're too magnificent. The French gardening style must be understood as the triumph of man over nature.
Male: The tour today was, in a single word, outstanding. It really was just a very great experience.
