Intermediate Russian Listening Practice: Nikolay Przhevalsky

This video for intermediate Russian learners will not only help you to practice your listening and reading skills but it will also give you some information about a person whose name is well-known to most Russians, it's Nikolay Przhevalsky. Do you know who he was? If you don't, I recommend you to watch this video, just because most Russians know this name well.

You will see his monument in Saint Petersburg and also the only Przhevalsky's museum in Russia, located in a village called after him - Przhevalskoye. I visited this place a couple of weeks ago and decided to tell you a bit about the person, whose name is well-known to most Russians, but not known to most foreigners.

So – you can practice your Russian language skills and learn some new information at the same time.

You can try reading books about him written by, for instance, М.А.Энгельгардт, П.К.Козлов (btw, he was a member of Przhevalsky's team), Н.Ф.Дубровин, and by contemporary writers such as В.М.Гавриленков, Donald Rayfield etc
