Pu Mat National Park, 120 km from Vinh city in Nghe An province, is the largest forest in north-central Vietnam and a world nature reserve. Its beautiful landscape and abundance of fauna and flora have also made Pu Mat a popular tourist destination.
Pu Mat National Park is located on the eastern slope of the Truong Son mountain range, spanning the Con Cuong, Anh Son, and Tuong Duong districts of Nghe An province. Pu Mat, in the Thai language, means ‘high slopes’.
The park was established in 2002 and recognized by UNESCO as a World Nature Reserve in 2007,with a core area of 94,000 ha and a buffer zone of 100,000 ha. At 1,840 meters above sea level, Pu May is cloudy the year around.
It is one of Vietnam’s principal nature reserves, with 2,400 flora species that include numerous valuable herbal plants. Of these flora species, 37 are listed in Vietnam’s Red Book and 20 which are in the world Red Book.
The forest also has 240 fauna species that include elephant, tiger, and a rare animal called a saola, that looks like a cross between an antelope and a goat or cow. The saola, also known as the ‘Asian unicorn’ is one of the world’s rarest species.
It was completely unknown before 1992 and has been found living only in the Truong Son forest of Vietnam and Laos. The saola is on the Red List of Threatened Species of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources.
Cao Tien Trung, an official of Vinh University, said: “Pu Mat Nature Reserves has great biological importance. Pu Mat National Park, Pu Huong Nature Reserve, and Pu Hoat Nature Reserve represent a rich source of rare and precious genetic material.”
Running across Pu Mat National Park is the Giang River, whose magnificent waterfalls, channels, and caves draws many tourists and has boosted local incomes.
Nguyen Van Vinh is a tourism official in Nghe An province: “Pu Mat National Park has a great tourism potential in mountain climbing, kayaking, and camping. Ecological tours are becoming increasingly popular in Vietnam as in the rest of the world.”
In the buffer zone of the National Park are villages inhabited by Thai, Kho Mu, O Du, and Dan Lai ethnic minority people, who still cling to their traditional customs and culture. Ngo Kim Hong is a tourist from Hanoi: “Dancing over bamboo poles and drinking rice wine through bamboo tubes are impressive experiences. Visiting the Thai villages, I love to watch the locals weave their brocades. It’s fun to pose for a photo in a beautiful Thai brocade dress while standing beside a waterfall or in the dense forest.”
Pu Mat National Park is a place where scientists can explore a rich biodiversity of unspoiled nature while tourists explore the area’s beautiful scenery and rich ethnic cultures.

Nghe An province, the homeland of President Ho Chi Minh, is also home to several other cultural figures and national heroes. The province is also a tourist attraction thanks to its beautiful landscapes.
Nghe An province, 300 km south of Hanoi, has a favorable location for road, railway, waterway and airway. The province is like a miniature of Vietnam because it covers plain, mountain and sea.
Nghe An attracts tourists thanks to its ancient forests, beautiful beaches and many historical and cultural relics. Vinh city in Nghe An province is also a popular tourist destination.
Tran Ha is a tour guide of Vietland Travel Company: “Five kilometers from Vinh city is the grave of great poet Nguyen Du, a World Cultural Figure. The Kim Lien relic site, the home village of President Ho Chi Minh, is 15 km from Vinh city. 17 km southwest of Vinh City is Cua Lo beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in central Vietnam.”
Nghe An has more than 1,000 cultural and historical relic sites.200 of them have been ranked. The most popular tourist site in Nghe An is Kim Lien relic site which showcases the childhood of President Ho Chi Minh. Hoang Tru village is the home village of President Ho Chi Minh’s mother. There, in a thatched cottage, items associated with President Ho Chi Minh’s early years are displayed.
Nguyen Thi Yen is a visitor: “I have read and been told about President Ho Chi Minh, but visiting his home village, I think our President is so great. His home village is as modest as other Vietnamese villages but such simplicity makes our Uncle Ho great. This is my first visitto President Ho Chi Minh’s mother’s village. I’m very happy.”
The 10-km Cua Lo beach in Vinh city lures a lot of tourists. The islands of Hon Ngu, Hon Mat and Lan Châu nearby enchant the most demanding tourists. To Lan Phuong is a visitor from Hanoi: “I have visited many places but Cua Lo beach is so beautiful.
Local people are friendly, sincere, and hospitable. I will come back.”
Pu Mat National Park, 120 km southwest of Vinh City, is also a tourist destination in Nghe An.
Located on the eastern side of the Truong Son range, Pu Mat National Park and Khe Kem waterfall are famous nature reserves of Vietnam which are home to a number of precious and rare fauna and flora species.
The western mountain region of Nghe An province is home to Kho Mu, O Duo, Tho, San Diu, and H’mong ethnic minority groups. Each group has its own culture, festivals, folk songs, and chants.
Nghe An province has a lot of festivals throughout the year, including Whale worshiping, clam procession, boat racing, Cuong temple, Bua cave, house warming, rice wine, and village festivals.
Beautiful landscapes, historical sites, culture, and ethnic cultural diversity make Nghê An an attractive tourist destination.

Hi, everyone. Sorry for my delay my exercise because I don't have much time. Ok, allow me to introduce myself. My name's Tien, my full name's Trinh Ngoc Tien. I come from Nghe An province, but now, I live and work in Ha Noi City. I'm 29. I have seen our english group in facebook, I think, I am the oldest person in our class. But, i have one information, special information for the girls in our class : I'm not married. Exactly, I don't have girl friend. now. Why do I learn English? I want to learn english for my job, conversation, translate my document, and maybe, I want to find a girl friend in english class.
I was born in Nghe An province. I lived there with my parents during I learned primary school. I learned high school in Vinh city in 2001. And then, I studied in Hanoi medical university in 2004. And now, I'm a dentist. Ok, let me talk something about my job. When you have a problem with your teeth. What's the problem with your teeth? You pain, uncomfortable, lost some teeth, you can not eat. I can help you. I will make a new tooth and certainly, you will feel better after you meet me. I love my job.
Ok, my favourite is football, watch film, meet friend. I want to make friends with many people. I love Premier league in England. My favourite team is chelsea club. But, my favourite football player is zinedine zidane. He is not England. He is French. And now, he is the manager in Real Madrid club. He hasn't played football since 2006.
I love film. I go to the cinema everyweek with my friend. I never go to the cinema alone. Why? Because I hate lonelinis. ok. That's it ! Thank you for your listening and see you soon.
