Puckpool Park - Isle of Wight
Puckpool Park is a free family attraction on the Isle of Wight. Situated in Seaview, the park is a short journey from Ryde. The park is an attractive spot and very close to Appley beach, making it the perfect day out. There are various activities on offer including mini golf, tennis, a zip-wire, a music making spider, plus various climbing frames, swings and slides. With lots of green open space, you'll find the perfect place for a relaxing picnic, or you could stop by the Puckpool Park Tea Gardens for a bite to eat.

Seaview is a small Edwardian resort located on the north-eastern corner of the Isle of Wight, overlooking the Solent. The village is popular with tourists and is only a 15-minute drive from the town of Ryde, where most tourists reach the island by ferry or hovercraft. Together with Nettlestone, it forms a civil parish of Nettlestone and Seaview.
The High Street is perpendicular to the shore. On the seafront lies the The Old Fort pub, a drinking spot popular with both residents and summer visitors. The Salterns Cottages used to house salt pan workers. One street is named Rope Walk, because long sections of rope for rigging ships were laid out there.
The well-known Priory Bay is approximately a ten-minute walk from the village. This stretch of beach can only be reached at low tide. It is filled with white sand and offers excellent swimming conditions. In addition, Seagrove Bay, between the village and Priory Bay, is quite popular. Some of the largest houses in the area are along Pier Road and Bluett Avenue, and this is partly responsible for the nickname millionaires avenues. Further large period houses, now largely divided into flats, can be found in Ryde Road.
In 1870, Augustus Gough-Calthorpe, 6th Baron Calthorpe, had a French Renaissance style house, Woodlands Vale, built by Samuel Sanders Teulon. The nearby Calthorpe Road is named after the family. Seaview has many holiday homes including some with sea views. This leads to a seasonal variation in the activity in the village - with many second-home owners visiting only in the summer months or holiday periods.
The village is home to the Sea View Yacht Club, founded in 1893. In summer, the village hosts the Seaview Regatta, during which locals and tourists can take part in many traditional activities, such as the greasy pole where people line up and see how far they can slide along a pole covered in grease. Once they have slipped off, they drop into the sea below. There is also a diving competition and a firework display concludes the event each year.
In 1877 the Seaview Pier Company was formed to build Seaview a promenading pier, and approval for a 350-yard-long pier was given by Parliament in 1878. The suspension pier was designed by Frank Caws, a Seaview-born engineer/architect then working in Sunderland. The pier was finished in 1881, and was 1000 feet long and 15 feet wide. There were four towers from which the pier deck was suspended. In its heyday, the pier received passenger ferries from Portsmouth and other south coast towns. At the entrance to the pier was the Pier Hotel, which catered for holidaymakers. The Pier was still in use after World War II, but was destroyed in a storm in late December 1951.

Holiday Park after 12 YEARS Abandoned! (Found Indoor Pool!)
► THE EXPLORE: Part of my Isle of Wight trip this year. One of only 2 successful explores from the trip. This is an abandoned holiday park that I previously visited with Neil, Rupert and a few others about a year ago. Let's see what we missed... and stick around for a glimpse of the as yet UNTOUCHED inside of the swimming complex that I've wanted to get into for AGES!
► SITE HISTORY: The site closed in 2006 and soon after in 2007 was the victim of a massive arson attack that destroyed the entertainment complex. Which is a shame, because in 2 visits to the site, I can't even tell where it was due to the fire completely wiping the place out. 12 years on the site is now falling to pieces, with very few parts of it not falling down or destroyed.
► DISCLAIMER: Urban Exploring is DANGEROUS. Do not attempt this yourself. Leave it to idiots like us instead...

Re: Isle of Wight Tourism dangers/ DANGER #1 Puckpool Sea Wall
Following the uploading of my video regarding Puckpool Sea Wall which was the first video in the: Isle of Wight DANGERS series, I have had a very encouraging response through YouTube Messages from other YouTube users. However it has been pointed out to me that although I had covered the Dangers of: the lack of a barrier; the blind eye being turned to the danger being caused by cyclists using the sea wall and the blind stairwells emerging onto the sea wall, I had not adequately emphasized the condition of the surface of the sea wall itself.
As you can see from this video, that I have now put together to remedy this, it is in an appalling condition consisting of numerous tripping hazards due to years of botched repairs which together with the lack of a safety barrier can only lead to an avoidable tragedy.
When the inevitable does happen here we will be told once again that lessons have been learned we are sick of this stock response and action should be taken to prevent obvious dangers by the officers we are employing for this very purpose.
We explore Harcourt Sands holiday Park Isle of Wight
Harcourt Sands, owned by Renowned, closed back in 2006 resulting in over 11 hectares of land becoming an unused eyesore with the loss of 167 jobs. In 2007 vandals targeted the abandoned buildings resulting in a massive blaze that destroyed the holiday park’s entertainment complex. The site has not been occupied since.

A Coastal Adventure On The Isle Of Wight #AD
As a family we love to explore new places and living in Southampton we have quite a lot of different areas around us. The Isle Of Wight is just over the water from us but somewhere we haven't ventured in many years. So when Parkdean Resorts got in touch with me and asked if we wanted to join in with their Coastal Adventures campaign and celebrate the beauty of Britain’s coastline I knew that this was a perfect fit for us. We tried living inland before but only lasted 6 months before we quickly got back home to the coast again!
They wanted us to visit The Isle Of Wight for the day and see what fun things we could find to do. I am focusing my Coastal Adventures around Parkdean Resorts Nodes Point. This is on the East side of the Island and only about 40 minutes drive away from the ferry terminal at East Cowes.
