The predominant activities for an island vacation are usually swimming and #snorkelling, especially if the waters are clear, like #Langkawi’s seas. #Snorkeling is a family-friendly activity that can be enjoyed by anyone, regardless of age.
If you're looking for the most scenic spot in #Langkawi, you won't have to look too far - Pulau Payar is located an hour away via speedboat from the main #Langkawi island, perfect for that relaxing day trip at the beach that you've been craving for.
#Pulau #Payar Marine Park is arguably the most popular place to go if you are planning a #snorkelling trip. The Marine Park is actually made up of four islands which consist of #Payar, Lembu, Kaca and Segantang which are all currently uninhabited, making it the best place for snorkeling in Langkawi. Expect to find diverse and colorful sea life all around the islands here which is its main attraction and also the reason it is Peninsular #Malaysia’s best diving site on the west coast.
One of the main attractions here is the black tipped baby sharks that you can spot when the tour guides take you out on their boats. If you are lucky, you may even be able to swim beside one of the baby sharks which is perfectly harmless and a #thrilling experience. Further out into the seas, you will be able to see even more corals and various other fishes darting amongst the corals. Langkawi snorkeling is definitely a fun and exciting activity that you can’t miss out when you are here.
There are a lot of tour agencies. Pick one and book your trip to #Pulau Payar. This tour takes you from Langkawi Island to #Pulau Payar straight from your hotel, so you won't have to worry about complicated transfers or stressful commutes to the jetty. As soon as you arrive on the island, you can choose to embark on an array of exciting activities, depending on your chosen package. Go #snorkeling from the shore - where you can spot reef sharks as near as 20 meters from the coastline - or from a reef platform in the middle of the ocean and spot exotic coral and marine species.
Tentative Itinerary:
• 7:30am-8:45am hotel pick up
• 9:30am arrive at Kuah jetty and depart by ferry
• 10:30am arrive at Pulau Payar Marine Park
• Based on your selected package, proceed with swimming, snorkeling, or diving
• Lunch
• Continue #snorkeling or #diving
• Glass bottom boat ride (for platform and scuba package only, starts every 15-20 minutes from 1:30pm-3:00pm)
• Change and shower
• 3:30pm depart for Kuah jetty
• 4:30pm arrive at Kuah jetty and return transfer back to the hotel.

Pulau Payar Marine Park is a popular site for snorkelling and diving enthusiasts keen on exploring Langkawi’s undersea action. Just 30km south of the main island, it is about 45 minutes away from the Kuah jetty point and you can take either a catamaran or a speedboat to get here. Comprising four islands, the largest of which is Pulau Payar, and three smaller isles (Pulau Kaca, Pulau Lembu and Pulau Segantang) this marine park is spread over two nautical miles. None of these islands are inhabited and are strictly regulated by the Fisheries Department of Kedah to maintain their pristine condition.
One of Pulau Payar Marine Park’s best features is its Coral Garden, a secluded section of the ‘park’ with colourful coral beautifully protected and preserved due to its sheltered waters. Those eager to explore the park will have to obtain permission from the authorities (fishing is strictly prohibited) before venturing into the waters: alternatively you can join a tour group. The park caters well to tourists with an extensive array of facilities ranging from picnic tables, barbecue pits, gazebos and restrooms set at strategic points throughout the park.

We booked with Naam Adventures for Snorkeling in Pulau Payar Marine Park. We paid about 100 MYR more then the usual packages but it turn out to be the best value in the end, because it was like a private boat charter!
We departed via the Langkawi yacht club in the morning and were lucky to have spotted some whales on the journey.
We were suppose to be on the Sea Heron which can take up to 20 people but there were only three of us so we had the Sea Hawk all to ourselves.
It was a great experience.
The kid had fun, and got close up with the sharks and marine life
It is not something that we get to do often so it was pretty enjoyable
The highlights of the trip was definitely swimming with baby sharks。

DIVING IN PULAU PAYAR, LANGKAWI, MALAYSIA

#Langkawi is not a #diving destination. However, if you are there for other reasons and want to get in the water there are a couple of options. One is #Langkawi #Scuba which operates a dive boat from the beach at Pantai Cenang. Other dive shops take their divers by ferry to #Pulau #Payar, about an hour out of Kuah Town.
#Scuba diving is frequently offered during tours to Pulau Payar. Once you book a trip to the island, the operators will approach you on the ferry to see if you’re interested in scuba diving. The dive masters provide a one-on-one guide for those who decide to take up on the offer, so that those who have never dived before can do so. The deeper waters where the operators bring you hold a richer variety of large fish. Guided by experienced divers, you’ll see schools of barracudas, cod and snappers, which are absent from the shallow waters of the beach in Pulau Payar. After an hour or two in the deep water, the divers will head back to Pulau Payar for some fun and relaxation. Pulau Payar scuba diving tours are about two hours long, with dives being conducted at 15 sites in the area of the four islands.
The Best Time for Scuba Diving in Langkawi While Pulau Payar scuba diving is available all year round, #Langkawi experiences heavy rainfall due to monsoon winds in the months of September and October. While showers are sometimes accompanied by violent thunderstorms, the weather in Langkawi is mostly good, even at this time. Therefore, the sea surrounding Langkawi is relatively calm compared to destinations on the east coast. The best time to enjoy this popular #Langkawi activity is during the dry season, which takes place from November until April. The weather is sunny, with little rain and good water visibility, and temperatures ranging between 25°C and 32°C. You can still enjoy a day of scuba diving in Langkawi during the mid-season (April until August), when rainfall is light and waters are relatively clear.
